I searched high and low for a weight loss doctor who ran an Optifast program. My search ended…read morehere. Everybody else wants to cut you open like a fish as a cure for weight loss, when there really are other solutions that work equally as well. Dr Briones will take the time you need with her. She's very knowledgeable about obesity and it's causes because she dealt with many of it's after-effects in her previous practice as a PT Doctor. She will do an evaluation that includes blood work and EKG, in her office and you will pay for that out of pocket but it is very reasonable. Insurance does not typically pay for diets, but you can try and see if you can work that out. Don't let that discourage you. When you're on Optifast, if you're like me, you spend less on your food than you would have otherwise. It's actually lower cost for me to be on a personally-customized, very closely medically-supervised diet, with a real Internist, weekly visits, encouragement, periodic blood work and all of my food for the week than to live my daily life before. I spent more at my work cafeteria and in a few take-out meals per week than this. I'm doing great and will update my review when I meet my goal weight. Update December 2017 - I am 15lbs away from having lost 200lbs in 1 year! Everything is going great. This has been easy to do and my health and fitness have rebounded in a big way. Thank you Dr Briones!

After moving to a new area, I needed a new primary care physician, and decided to rely on reviews…read moreto find one. Dr. Briones had high marks on ZocDoc, and after my experience with her, I am sorry I trusted the reviews as this was one of the absolute worst experiences I've had with any doctor in my nearly 40 years of life. My sister and I decided to use Dr. Briones for our annual physicals. Upon arriving 15 minutes early at her office, the receptionist asked if I had filled out the new patient paperwork through ZocDoc. I didn't realize it was required, so she handed us the paperwork on a clipboard, and I filled out in a few minutes. Then, I waited. Over an hour. When I asked the receptionist if the doctor would be seeing me soon, she snapped: "Well you should have filled the paperwork online." The paperwork that took me 5 minutes in office (in which I was early anyway), was what held up my appointment by an hour? Finally, the doctor pulled my sister and I in for what we presumed was the annual physical. Instead, this is what we got: a confused, distracted doctor who asked our family and medical history while she scrawled it down. A few minutes through the repeating of the information we already provided on the intake forms, her cell phone rang. She said "I have to take this," stepped out for a personal phone call and was gone for ten minutes. She returned even more disoriented. I reminded her she needed to provide a prescription for diagnostic testing for my sister. She wrote my name down, and when I corrected her that it should be for my sister who was next to me, she scribbled it out on the prescription paper. I asked for her to redo it, and her response was that she couldn't since she ran out of prescription pads. A doctor...with no prescription pads? Then, she took both of our blood pressures. She tells us we are both 120 over 80; same exact readings but also the perfect blood pressure? How ironic. The stethoscope was even more haphazard. She barely placed it on the heart and back, and goes "you're fine. You're healthy." She proceeds to take our weights and sends us to bloodwork. That's it. If you remove her inappropriate ten minute phone call, we were probably seated for under 10 minutes total. Cut to a week later, we return to pickup our bloodwork results since she hadn't called with them. We also asked for our medical records. Again, we waited in the reception area for 30 minutes then are told by the doctor, "it was JUST a physical, I don't have records for you." She gives us a copy of our lab printed bloodwork and a paper she was jotting notes down, which come to find out she marked that she completed a number of other tests (eye, ear, etc) that she did not perform during the physical, essentially falsifying the physical report. She didn't review the bloodwork results either. Our insurance provided annual exam was wasted and we learned absolutely nothing, except that this is not a doctor that should be facilitating any PCP work. She runs a weight loss clinic and that seems to be her focus. Do not go here if you want to walk blindly into your health. I still don't know what those lab results mean and I am questioning whether this was even a real doctoral practice. Do yourself a favor and avoid this doctor if you care about your well-being.

I came here today for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine…read more Roughly 30 seconds after receiving it, I felt light headed. A staff member, who said that he was also an EMT, took my vitals. My pulse was racing at 160. My blood pressure skyrocketed to 182/111. The young man also gave me a small bottle of water, which did not help. My vitals did not stabilize. He, nor the pharmacist who administered the vaccine were equipped, to help me. They did little for me. The young man said that he has an EpiPen but that my symptoms did not require use of one. Lastly, he did not even given me a glucose tablet when I asked for one. I thought my blood sugar was also low. I thought that I was going to die and called my next of kin. Thank goodness I had my phone with me. Staff called an ambulance, which came in about 10 minutes. The crew wheeled me out of the store in a stretcher and said that I likely have vasovagal syncope, which is a rare adverse reaction to the vaccination. The MD at LI Community did not formally diagnose me with that. Dr M. merely said that I had a "fast heart rate and racing pulse" in response to the Pfizer vaccine. An RN administered IV fluids and continuously monitored my vitals. Staff also gave me an EKG and withdrew some blood for testing. I spent four hours in the ER before my vitals stabilized. Lesson learned: ONLY GO TO A VACCINATION SITE THAT HAS AN EMS, AMBULANCE AND MEDICAL STAFF ON PREMISES. Google research indicates that Pharmacy staff is not equipped to handle severe reactions to any vaccine. I should have done my due diligence before I selected Walgreens as my vaccination site. Addendum: The pharmacist, Jenny, did call me the next day to check my status. She also informed me that she will be reporting this incident to VAERS, as required by Federal law.
