Closed permanently. As in, not open any longer. Why does Yelp require a minimum length?

Agave - Mezcal is the answer!

We tried a few of their mixed drinks, all are absolutely delicious, well made with quality ingredients. $10-$15 per drink is not cheap for Mexico, but this is a touristy town and the shitty cruise bars are all expensive. What we like the most is their mezcal quality and variety , which is what we came for. They have more "in the back" somewhere since the bar is really small. Food: meh. Not fresh nor exciting. Don't bother. Ambience: this is a really small area, 2 tables and a bar sitting. At max 10-12 people elbow to elbow. Cool decorations though, not at all touristy and "cheap" like most of Cozumel bar scene. We really enjoyed our visit. Service: we came on a Friday early afternoon and there was only one other tourist group. The bartender was great! Really young (20 yo!!!!), but apparently he has been doing the job for more than 5 years. (I guess the legal drinking age in Mexico is just a suggestion) Overall this was one of the highlight of our visit. Will come back here again if we are ever in the area.

The selection of agave based liquor was immense and Israel was a wealth of knowledge. I tried at least 8 different agave products. Unfortunately we had eaten before we came but did try the traditional snacks (I.e, bugs) with guacamole and the coconut ice cream which was amazing.

Almost…read more The restaurant is tucked away from the main tourist strip, and walking in feels like discovering a hidden garden. At night, it really comes alive. Lanterns hang from the trees casting a warm amber glow, everything feels soft and intimate, and a live band playing low-key jazz ties it all together. It's cozy, a little romantic, and honestly one of the better dining atmospheres on the island. Hard to say how it translates during the day, but at night, it works. The Food The food holds its own, even if the setting gets most of the attention. By Cozumel standards, it's some of the better food we had on the island. The menu leans creative but still approachable. We tried a bit of everything. The Mexican dumplings were fine. Not bad, not memorable. The trio of guacamoles was a hit, especially the one with fruit and bacon, which sounds questionable but works really well. The queso was exactly what you expect. Good, comforting, not trying to reinvent anything. The standout surprise was the tortillas. Freshly made and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They elevated everything they touched. The meat tacos were also very solid, well-seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was the house specialty, a cornbread-based dish with ice cream and toppings. Don't remember the name, but I remember finishing it, which says enough. Service Service was good across the board. Friendly, efficient, nothing over the top but nothing missing either. Overall Kondesa is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, but the food makes sure it's not just a pretty place. Come for dinner, take your time, and enjoy the setting. It's one of those meals where the environment does half the work and the food handles the rest.

I know it was the nachos because my husband and I ate the same things yesterday with the exception of the imitation crab on the nachos. When they sat them down and I saw it was imitation crab I was disappointed but it was late and I was hungry. My husband ate maybe a few bites and he picked the imitation crab off. He said the nachos tasted disgusting to him. We went back to our room, and about 3 hours later I woke up and immediately started projectile vomiting. I spent most of the night in the bathroom feeling like I was going to die. I thought the imitation crab tasted a little off, but just chalked it up to being different than what I'm used to in the states. Big MISTAKE. I've managed to slow down in the vomiting and trips to the bathroom but I still feel awful. Nauseated, headache (probably from dehydration), stomach pain and back pain....I assume that's from how hard I was retching. We will never go back. Food poisoning is not something I give any additional chances for. If you've had it, you understand.
