Even before we formally signed on with them, they were extremely helpful in providing advice on how to expedite our case with the new centralized unit for foreign marriage applications, which was for a period stalled -- and based on our experience, we would highly recommend them for any international couple wishing to marry in Denmark.
The process following approval was extremely smooth and stress-free -- we primarily worked with Anna once we signed on, one of us being American, and were able to largely tick boxes on an form to order items or services that we wanted for our ceremony, including provisions for over a dozen guests (we ordered many items -- including a large cake, extra champagne, a bouquet and flower crown, and horse and carriage). Anna double-checked any additional minor details with us, and we were set -- the only things we had to arrange for ourselves were group accommodations and meals at local restaurants, which DIW also helped or offered to help with. They similarly provided for us items which were not part of the advertised package, upon request -- such as a projector at no additional cost -- and arranged last-minute on-site hair styling for two of our guests, with a local hair stylist, at a very reasonable cost.
Once we arrived in Ærø, we were handed off to Louise, John, and Yuki. DIW made everything maximally easy for us; they coordinated very well with the photographer we hired (Neli, who we also highly recommend), and arranged meetings for us and two of our guests with all relevant local parties at their office, discussing all aspects of the ceremony (and hair styling, in the case of our guests) with us. We had a somewhat unusual science fiction-inspired wedding theme, but they happily ran with this and made suggestions to us for how to further customize our ceremony. For two people who wanted to make key decisions, but fret about as few details as possible, this was perfect.
Thanks to DIW, the day itself was fantastically organized, and all we had to worry about was dressing ourselves (with them providing assistance with details), getting downstairs to the ceremony, and getting down to the reception in the cafe downstairs (which they also helped organize) once we were done with guest speeches. The beautician, Mira, did an excellent job in the morning, as did the hairstylist DIW arranged for two of our guests. At some point our failure in adequately timing reception events clashed with the schedule of the horse and carriage that was ordered, but DIW immediately smoothed everything over, and we were able to leave with the photographer to take pictures, while remaining events were rescheduled for after we got back. We were so glad that we did not have to worry at all about how to deal with this!
In the end, we and our 14 international guests had a fantastic time and a very fun and stress-free ceremony at the Old Merchants' Court (despite some disorganization on our part), all thanks to the efforts of DIW. We whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone wishing to marry in Denmark, particularly if you would like to host a party rather than simply getting married at the registry office (which we're very glad we didn't limit ourselves to!).
