Plenty of beautiful birds to watch. It is most unfortunate that the marina restaurant and bar are closed and the building is not operational at all. The bathroom facilities are clean however the biggest deal for us is that there is no code to use the facilities (especially at night) so it feels unsafe. Actually, it is unsafe. My husband walked me to the the restrooms in the middle of the night and thank goodness he did because when he went into the men's bathroom there was a homeless man utilizing the sink to clean himself. If I had gone by myself and encountered someone at 2am I would have been pretty unsettled about the situation. So be aware.

Even with COVID, the amenities are comfortable, clean and well maintained. The boardwalk around the Marina is terrific for exercise and biking. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the community is welcoming for long term boaters and transients alike. This quiet and safe community Is convenient for provisioning and there are many dining and entertainment options within 10-15 min drive. Every marina has its stuff that it's working on, but having spent time at several marinas in the area, we are proud to call Salt Ponds home. We can't wait until the COVID restrictions are lifted and the pool can be opened.

A few weeks ago, my husband stained that shirt. I called the marina, explained the situation and bought him a new shirt and had it shipped. When the shirt arrived, they included several stickers as well as a note thanking me! What nice people! Great customer service, if I get a chance to boat in Virginia Beach, we are staying there.

Herewith my ActiveCaptain review of Cobb's Marina as of May 2018. UPDATE May 2018 This is really getting boring. I have nothing to complain about. I stopped here for fuel and a nap while waiting for the second owner to arrive for the last leg of a delivery. Dockmaster David Benns was hospitable as always. I consulted with David about a mildly creative approach to springing and warping a somewhat unwieldy 50' pilothouse ketch from the lift well bulkhead to the fuel dock to avoid backing down the fairway - it is clear David is as comfortable and competent on boats as in a marina. Many thanks--again--to all the staff at Cobb's Marina for their support and customer service. UPDATE August 2017 Another delivery and another stop at Cobbs, this time for a couple of days for some minor mechanical work and to wait out some weather. Frank in the parts department tracked down some obscure parts for us really fast. The entire team at Cobb's is first rate. UPDATE July 2017 Once again Cobb's Marina demonstrated that customer service is their priority during a brief visit for inbound C&I and fuel while on delivery. Many thinnks to David Benns for getting us turned around and on our way despite a later than hoped for arrival. Extract from previous review: We visited Cobb's in March of 2017. At the end of a difficult delivery that included a failed main halyard, a seized engine, and a tow from the USCG our arrival at Cobb's was welcome. Everyone on staff was helplful and kind. Dockmaster David Benns took care of us. Although we could not reach the fuel dock given our circumstances David made sure we could get diesel on the boat. The docks are nothing short of lovely with sturdy cleats and good bumper strips. Showers and baths are heated and there is plenty of hot water. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery. CBP clearance was a piece of cake. I will be back.

We had planned to haul out in a few months for blister repair and bottom paint, after observing we decided we found our place. Excellent work, reasonably priced, and impeccable communication. Great pool and bath house, laundry, floating docks, dog park across the street, with instacart and walmart delivery options. Great short ride to Yorktown via dinghy to enjoy the free hop on and off trolly tour. Can't say enough great things about this place we will defiently return.

They have just opened the new bath house, laundry room and pool. There are a couple of beautiful flower gardens, not to mention the marina is nestled in a placid area surrounded by large trees. The entire marina is pristinely manicured. They have a full working service yard and haul out. The ship store is stocked with a wide variety of boater's needs. We are on the great loop and needed a repair to our bow thruster, the marina was happy to work us in even though they were booked through July! So much to do close by, Uber does pick up from here and food can be delivered. If you get the chance this is a great place to stay.

There is an exit for the marina and adequate parking. The area is sketchy and looks like something out of a movie with its aged docks. So yes it does have character going for it, but not sure it's in a good way. The best thing going for it is it's proximity to Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The Sunset Grille is also located at the marina. It's been a few years since I last dined. It's ok if your there any way, but would not put yourself out to grab a meal. It's a small rustic joint open lunch and dinner. The best thing is you can catch a sunset over dinner and drinks. However, outdoor seating is limited to four tables. Most of the piers are in sorry shape and if you ask me not safe. There are boats evidently paying a slip fee that are falling apart. The price is right and one of the more reasonable options for the area. Check them out, but no recommendation from me on making this marina home for your craft. 2.5, will round up with a fantastic location to launch from.

The facility's main business is dry storage for power boats up to about 40 feet, but they also handle daily or extended in- or out-of-water stays from transient boaters, and those local boat owners wishing to perform maintenance on their boats, both sail and power, up to about 60 feet. The marina has all the normal amenities, including both gasoline and diesel fuel, a very nice Ship's Store, a selection of bait and tackle for fisherman, on-site mechanical and rigging service personnel, bottom cleaning and painting capabilities, fiberglass repair services, and full electrical and water services for both in-water and landside slips. Short or long-term storage contracts are available, and range from one-day visits to yearly dry storage contracts with provisions for on demand in-and-out-of-the- water hauling included. Sunset is located in a fairly quiet part of Hampton, and is a short walk or tender ride up the Creek to the center of the city and all the commercial action, hotels and restaurants. But, aside from the peacefulness of the place, one of the benefits of its location is that prices here are a bit lower than at those spots further up the Creek and closer to Downtown. And, for whatever reason, the folks that frequent Sunset seem a bit less plastic than those at the more "sophisticated" marinas at the head of the Creek. And whether that's good or bad, of course, is entirely up to you.
