AMAZING! Hard to find a good veterinarian Dr. Doughty is compassionate, intuitive, and very knowledgeable

Dr Eddie and his staff run a very caring and capable animal hospital. My two past dogs and current dog are cared for here. The doctor answers all my questions. There are no hidden charges on any procedures and the prices are very good for vet services. The facility is always clean and smells great. Usually there is only one pet at a time so there are no conflicts with other animals. I also have friends who bring their dogs here and just love this Dr and his staff read more

Clean, friendly, and courteous. Dr. Doughty is kind and knowledgeable, and will help you decide what steps to take, and what's best for your pet. He's conservative with treatment, and doesn't recommend ultra-expensive diagnostic procedures if the situation doesn't call for it. Let's try this first (maybe some inexpensive medication), and then we go from there... He's just a good all 'round veterinarian who cares about the animals. I also appreciate that if there's something he doesn't know, he will do the research and find out. Also keep in mind he's a one-man band. He's a lone veterinarian, not an animal hospital with several vets on staff. I personally like this situation for regular vet visits because you build a relationship with the doc, and he also gets to know your pet. The first time he met my dog he knelt down on the floor with little dog treats and took the time to get to know my dog ... he was gentle and kind. That's the kind of vet I want. read more

If you're a Greyhound owner, do not waste your time here. They are extremely polite and gentle with their patients, but they are not knowledgeable or qualified to treat this breed's unique needs. They do not listen to the owner when presented with well documented (peer reviewed) treatment options. However they are happy to have you come in so they can charge you for an office visit then refer you to a specialist for treatment that is typically performed by a general vet. I highly recommend Dr. Decker at North Ogden Animal Hospital over Bluegrass. She's experienced with greys and listens to the owners. She isn't afraid to research the source of the problem and then take action to treat it. After almost two years of wasted time with Bluegrass, my boy is walking pain free and has his old quality of life back. Thank you Dr. Decker! read more

I am second generation to call Dr. Doughty "our vet". He is always so kind and gentle with the animals with a true compassion for their wellbeing. I recently had to get my young dogs' leg amputated. His guidance and care was truly remarkable. Not only to my fur baby, but to my 12 year old who had a rough time with it. The assistants are also amazing. Vet seemed jumpy and not well trained. Made my wife sit in the car until her appointment. Dog tested negative for Parvo but the vet still said she still might have parvo, even though she had no symptoms and the test came back negative. The vet came recommended but didn't know how to handle a dog and rushed my wife right out after 2 minutes and charged 120.00 Also, if the vet was so concerned about Parvo even after my dog came back negative, what does it say about about a vet that is concerned about Parvo in a dog but gives no instruction on what to do about it or where to take my dog but just bills us and shoves us back into the world with no idea how to proceed? Does that sound like a responsible vet? I highly recommend against this vet. they were not courteous, they took no time and only seemed interested making money and not having us at their facility. No worries there. We won't be back. read more

I was visiting relatives when my dog started limping, I thought he sprained/broke his leg and I was able to get a same day appointment when I called. Dr. Doughty did a thorough examination determining it was joint/arthritis related and not a broken bone. He prescribed a medication that would not harm my pet as he is allergic to several medicines and food. I do my best not to take my pets outside their regular vet (in Colorado) because of past experiences with other vets/emergency basically "sticking it to you" so to speak or ignoring the pet's allergies to medicines. My visit at Bluegrass Veterinary was a pleasant, comfortable experience and I felt that Dr. Doughty genuinely cared about his patients. I would certainly go back to them if I am in the area and would highly recommend them to the locals. read more

I used to take my dog to see Dr. Doughty when he was a a different clinic and was so happy to find him again. He is so caring and gentle with the animals and you can tell he cares more about their wellbeing and not making money off your animals illness. He didn't try and talk me into a bunch of expensive services that weren't absolutely necessary and really took time to explain my dogs illness and care options. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The clinic is very clean. I will recommend him to all animal lovers and will be taking my animals there from now on. read more

My husband and I have been taking our dogs to Bluegrass Vet clinic and seeing Dr. Doughty since 2010 or 2011. He's done a few surgeries, routine visits with our babies and always been so kind and loving to them. He almost never puts them on a table, he always gets on the floor with them, which I love and appreciate. This helps keeps them calm and happy! We wish we could find human Dr's that loved what they do and cared about their patients as much as Dr. Doughty and his assistants do! We would NEVER consider taking our babies to anyone else!!! We also know of many people who have therapy dogs and they all love and trust Dr. Doughty too! We are currently training our English Cream Retriever for therapy as well. Thank you to Dr. Doughty and the staff at Bluegrass Vet Hospital for a stress free visit for me and my dog Jersey. Even though Jersey was only there for his yearly vaccines, Dr. Doughty took time to check his ears, mouth, heart, etc and even asked how our other dog was doing. The attention we were given and the calmness in the office made me think we were there only patient that morning. Then Misty told me they had 3 emergency walk-ins before us. Wow!
