They stock good quality watches from the likes of Rotary and Tag. You'll not find much in the budget range but the value is good. The staff are very helpful and manage to create a good atmopshere and one that is conducive to spending money on quality jewellery. They allow you to take your time and will show you everything that you need. From time to time events are held and you can book an appointment with a specialist to value or redesign jewellery. The advice given is good and there's no pushy sales talk. If you want ideas then they can be found. I thoroughly recommend this outlet.

The reason I like this place is the expert behind the counter, who mends things skilfully (sometimes while you wait), and peruses things through a jeweller's glass as you browse, giving the whole place an air of Dickensian authenticity. He won't blink were you to take him an intricate old pocket watch, for example - he can put his hands instantly on the correct tools, and clearly has the knowhow to deal with pretty much anything you might need fixing. I took in a bracelet for a friend once in which the filigree clasp was the focus of the design, and had fallen off at a gig and been trampled on by a succession of excitable sixteen year olds before being rescued. He merely whipped out a succession of miniscule needle nosed pliers and almost by magic, restored it to perfect working order. He didn't even charge. He felt it was too easy. Altogether then, it's probably not worth the visit for the stock alone, but it would be an excellent choice for restoration and repairs.

We returned the ring and they said the ring had been mistreated (it hadn't) and they refused to pay for repair or replacement. In the end we had no choice but to issue court proceedings which the jewellers defended all the way. At court the judge was critical of them and told them to be more careful in the future and awarded all damages and costs in our favour. Lesson learned - they were very helpful and nice at the point of sale, but the moment things started to go wrong the customer service was non existent. While we got all the money back in the end, it took a long time and a lot of effort. There are LOADS of jewellers in The Lanes in Brighton, so if you avoid this one you'll still have lots of choice.

Lucy talked us through all of the options of which metals and which ring shapes there were, which was really helpful, as neither of us really wear much jewellry. We settled on palladium rings for both of us, with one being given a hammered effect, and the other being engraved on the outside. The engraved ring was for me, but I was unsure of the pattern to have. Lucy showed me previous examples of engraved rings, but I ended up submitting my own design. This was then engraved onto a sample ring by the local metal engraver, who this shop uses. Once I was happy with the final look, my actual ring was engraved. The rings are both gorgeous, and really good quality. The price was also very good. I'm so happy that we chose this jewellers for our wedding rings, as I know that twenty years down the line, the rings will look as good as they do now. The range is mostly silver or platinum, with a little gold, and includes both male and female jewellery. There is a good choice of unusual wedding and engagement rings - ranging from the slim and classic, to the more edgy and modern. There's a good choice of necklaces, bracelets and cufflinks, with many designs incorporating colourful stones and various types of pearls.
