This is advertised as a 5 star adults only site and certainly delivers. Very clean, very friendly…read moreand helpful. 3 mins by car or 15 mins walk across a path and you're on the beach at Sandilands. No tents allowed here; just caravans, folding campers and motorhomes. No dog restrictions and it's a cracking beach. 20 mins walk into Sutton on Sea along the promenade. Beach huts along the prom can be hired from £15 per day (cheaper by the week).

The site has a site club with kids room and 2 toilet blocks, it also has a washing and drying facility and a lot of space for tourer caravans whether they be weekend visitors or season long members. There is a feeling of community between on the site which is allways a good thing, kids tend to keep to themselves and don't cause trouble and any trouble that does happen is sorted quickly by the site staff. The staff are friendly and always a good laugh, this is a nice place to stop with the family, good for pet owners as well as the site site has a dog walking area that goes alongside the river.

None of them spoiled our weekend, and for the price, this site is a gem. The site has two fields for camping. The first includes both tents and caravans and includes power points. It also features free-range chickens, which we decided to avoid. The other field was dedicated to tents and has no electric hook ups. On the minus side: A water tap in the 'tent' field would save relatively long walks with heavy water cans. Whilst the new showers were very good and clean, the water did run cold at busy times over the May bank holiday weekend. The showers are new for 2011 and the water heating is due for an upgrade in 2012, so this problem should be short-lived. Note the old showers to the rear of he Hall still require a 50p payment in the meter. Not a problem for me, but if you're used to wet shaving, there was a lack of hot water and a mirror in front of a sink On the plus side: afternoon cream teas were served from the coffee shop on the lawn An on-site bar and coffee shop An on-site farm shop, with farm shop prices, but the quality to go with it 5 minute walk to the Kings Arms, Wing Within a stones throw of Rutland Water Free wi-fi available in the vicinity of the hall well priced campsite and friendly staff Overall, I would recommend this site to a friend, especially if you're an outdoor type looking to explore Rutland Water and the surrounding countryside. We willbe going again.

There are just over a hundred pitches and we have never found noise to be a problem on this site. It is very sheltered and peaceful and it never feels cramped. The site is well run by helpful and friendly staff and the toilet and shower blocks are of a very high standard and kept extremely clean. There are a couple of family/disabled shower rooms too which is useful if you have small children. There are decent laundry and washing-up facilities and a well-stocked on-site shop for any essentials you may have forgotten. They also have book and magazines you can borrow during your stay. There is a small children's play area which has got one of those giant swings, a sandpit and climbing frame with slide. There is also a well-stocked fishing lake although we have not used this. Some lovely woodland walks surround the site too. I highly recommend a stay on this site (but not when we want to go of course!). It is also within easy access of the North Norfolk coast and is a good base for exploring this delightful part of the country.
