We go to Blue zoo a few times a year and we always enjoy our time. The staff is always helpful and the spaces are always clean. The little ones love the encounters where you can feed the animals. I would recommend Blue Zoo for families.

Took my girlfriend here for a little date and we had an awesome time. It's a pretty small place but there is plenty of different animals and fish to look at. We took our time and did everything possible and probably spent about little over an hour here. I would definitely recommend coming here if you like sea creatures or birds.

Had a blast at the Blue Zoo today! My friend and I got to pet stingrays, touch starfish, sit with parakeets, and learn fun facts throughout the visit. It's fun to pet the animals, highly recommend getting the tokens to feed them too, especially the stingrays! The gift shop has the cutest merch, some featuring Cara, their famous escape-artist

Blue Zoo is a great addition to Baton Rouge! We had a lot of fun visiting with our 18 month old and he had a blast. The touch pools were great: stingrays, urchins, sponges, hermit crabs, fish, and more! They also let you pet lizards, birds, a tortoise, and other animals. Plenty of colorful fish and even some sharks are there for viewing. The interactive play area was a lot of fun as well, especially for little ones. My biggest piece of advice is to GET THERE EARLY. It fills up fast and the line gets VERY long to get inside. Arrive 15 min before opening if you can. It took us just over 1 hour to do the whole thing, and we weren't going too fast. I don't know how anyone could spend over 1.5-2hrs here, but maybe? I'm sure we will be back to visit our new aquatic friends soon!

I was looking at random places on the internet like you do and found this place. For essentially $20 per adult, there is about an hours' worth of fun here. I did enjoy watching the kids though. I liked the bird room the best. This is located on the first floor of the Mall of Louisiana between the two entrances of Dillard's. The employees are friendly. All of the animals seemed to be well cared for. There are signs all around advertising birthday parties, baby showers, engagement parties. Also there are mermaid shows, and feeding times for the fish.

Feed the parakeet budgies ... was a blast!

A zoo in a mall?! This place is small, but hella fun! You can feed and pet a variety of sting rays, birds, fish, turtles etc ! They have skin cleaning fish - garra rufa is their technical name - who tickle you when they clean your skin. The turtles are adorable and will swim to you for you to feed them. The parakeets will climb all over you when you feed them millet. While I know people will complain about the size of the place, I came to the point where it didn't matter, simply because I was having a blast with so many types of animals! I spent well over an hour just playing with fish, birds, and stingrays!

a lot of fun with touching

i like it. But too small this place. some windows are empty. stingrays are nice. we feed birds too.

The Audubon Zoo is one of those institutions that everyone needs to visit when in New Orleans. It's…read morelocated in a beautiful park, just off Magazine Street, and one can ride the St. Charles Street Car to get there. It's an old institution, and is often working to improve their historic exhibits to better serve their animals as well as their visitors. When I recently visited, the sea lion exhibit was being improved. They still had a sea lion show, and I was there at just the right time to see one of their sea lions enjoying an enrichment event. The exhibits are designed to provide a spacious and natural environment for the animals, while allowing the visitors to observe them. In some cases, this allows several species to inhabit the same exhibit, which is a more natural setting. This is definitely a well planned and managed collection, and helps the visitors understand to need to conserve our natural environment. The zoo has a great Louisiana swamp exhibit, which also helps the visitors learn about the cultural history of Louisiana. There are native animals that few might see in nature, but which the visitors can learn about in this setting. These include Alligator Snapping Turtles, and Louisiana Black Bears. There's plenty of places for the visitors to eat, drink, and buy gifts. These are found in convenient locations throughout the park. It's a great experience and especially good for families.

We didn't really encounter anyone that worked there that smiled to say hello or goodbye. It was so nice how the zoo is thoughtfully set up for families. Lots of places to sit down and view the animals. The day that we went, because it was now closer to closing (we were there for about three hours) the animals must have been brought inside before 5pm. It made it difficult to see some of the wildcats because they were inside. The park staff does end up doing some pop up discussions. We attended one with the gorillas and it was interesting to hear about them. The giraffe feeding station has been closed due to construction. *** unsure when it will reopen but would like to share this as it was disappointing to arrive and discover this. The Asian elephants were interesting to see and learn the difference between the African and Asian elephants. I felt like the animals at this zoo and the habitats looked like they could use a little more upkeep. With it being spring and all, the leaves were in all their water habitats. We enjoyed some salt water taffy while we were walking and this was a nice treat.

So many types of insects exhibited in their environments. I particularly liked the velvet red ants. Ginormous. Can't really say I spent too much time reading any of the information on the insects. The space is dark. There's also a cafe where you can snack on insects. Again, not really my cup of tea. Thanks, but no thanks. My favorite part of the insectarium, where I spent most of my time, was the butterfly atrium. What an absolutely spectacular place. Heavenly. When you walk through one door, it has to close before another door opens. This is to ensure no butterflies escape. As soon as I walked in, there were hundreds of butterflies! Of all shapes and sizes, blue, brown, white, yellow, orange and black. The majority of them were attached to the window where they thought they could fly out. There's different types of plants for them to land on. Fruit and sponges with nectar are set throughout the trail for them to land and suckle on. There's a walkway for visitors, but you have to be careful because butterflies land on the walkways, too. You're not supposed to touch or hold the butterflies, but it's fine if they land on you. The staff member there kept repeating not to touch the butterflies because there was a child who kept grabbing at them. You could tell some of the butterflies were man handled because pieces of their wings were missing. Honestly, it's pretty hard to keep your hands to yourself when there are so many butterflies flying around your head.

The insectarium was clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. My favorite part was the butterfly room. I also got to eat free chocolate chirp cookies and apples and cinnamon roasted mealworms. We spent about 5 hours at the aquarium and insectarium, including a beverage break at Cafe Aqua. They do have some extras like a hurricane simulator and VR chairs. It's a little pricy, but all the bugs and the facts they list about them was worth the price.
