I cannot say enough good things about this place. Kansas City is sprawling and not super walkable…read moreand that is the only reason I can imagine that this place isn't constantly packed (although they get that way on weekends/with live music). I am a great lover of wine and I have never come here without learning something/trying something out of the ordinary. Kate, who works the bar, deeply researches and lovingly curates their offerings. Try a flight, and get an education! She will tell you everything you could hope to know about the wine. This place also has wonderful charcuterie and an extensive liquor/wine selections, featuring a lot of things you won't find elsewhere. The staff is lovely, the wine is priced very fairly and the bar in the back is very warm and cute. Check it out!!

I'm glad we did, the bartender was really nice and told us to take a seat. It was a cute little wine bar. They had live music playing and the bar back was so helpful and nice! She poured us each a nice big glass of white wine. The charcuterie board was beautiful and delicious! Glad we were able to sit down and enjoy! It's a cool concept you can buy your drinks from the store and take them to the bartender to open and enjoy there.

As far as bar stops go when you're at P&L, County Road Ice House probably isn't the first one on…read morethe list. No, this is more of a sit-yourself-down kind of place, instead of being a make-your-way-to-the-bar-for-yet-another-drink kind of place. But they serve up some Joe's Kansas City BBQ, so you know they've got a reason to pull you in. Nothing says Kansas City quite like smoked meats & fabulous sauces, so get comfy & sample a Z-Man. There is plenty else on the menu, but if you're vegan or vegan-ish, then good luck or maybe have a cheat day. The BBQ is fantastic and Ice House has added their own bar & grille twists, so you have options beyond smoked meats. Seating is pretty good, and with both a wraparound bar and table service, there are plenty of options. As is the norm these days, there are screens in all directions, so you just don't miss a single moment of sportsball if that's your jam. P&L is a jammed up place when events are happening, so if you can find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy, then that's a win. County Road offers that and more, and it's only real knock is the service levels, which can be slow at busy times. But hey, if you have a seat and maybe a drink, then wait just a few extra minutes for servers to plow their way through the bar crowd. Definitely worth it for the BBQ alone.

Trust the Yelp ratings and reviews on this place! It's ok but nothing more. When our server…read morediscouraged half of the menu choices I asked about, I tried to figure out if she was right or just doesn't like those items. Turns out, she was apparently right. The meats were all overcooked and dry to some extent. Some of the sides were good (onion rings, fries and street corn). Service was a bit on the slow side, but that's a small consideration. If you want good Kansas City BBQ, there are lots of good choices you should try before County Road Ice House. It feels like one of those restaurants that relies on its vibrant location to draw customers rather than delivering great food that keeps people coming back.

Went here for date night and was not disappointed…read more The beer battered cheese curds are a must. I got the smash burger and my partner got the waygu beef burger with some fun toppings. It took us a while to get through the menu because of all the fun burgers they offered. I kind of wish I tried something else because a smash burger is pretty straightforward, but delicious regardless. I also got a yummy gin drink (i'm blanking on the name) that was prepared in a cute cocktail glass. And of course, we had to get the truffle fries which were to die for. Great service, he got us in and out of there on a busy night without rushing too much. Higher end burger place with prices that reflect that, but nothing too ridiculous. Definitely will be coming back.

We chose BRGR in Power & Light for a six-person birthday lunch specifically for the patio…read more When we arrived around noon Thursday, we were told the patio wouldn't be opening despite the sunshine and mild temperatures. We explained why we had chosen the restaurant, offered flexibility about seating and service, and asked for a manager. The answer remained a flat no. With appointments afterward, we stayed in a freezing dining room just feet from the outdoor seating we had requested. There appeared to be only about three other occupied tables, which made the inflexibility even more frustrating. I understand operational limitations. What disappointed me was how dismissive the response felt. We left feeling like accommodating our request was an inconvenience. The service staff were fine. The food was unremarkable. With sandwiches around $17 before adding tots and drinks, our lunch came to approximately $34 per person including a 20% tip, before tax. For the overall experience, that was poor value. Our office is a block away. This could have become a regular lunch destination, but I won't be returning. Customers do not owe a restaurant their business. It has to be earned. A prime Power & Light address doesn't make up for dismissive hospitality. BRGR, do better.
