Shell Station, Whataburger and Convenience Store
    Ray F.

This location has all you could want (well, maybe just all you need right now). It has a Whataburger, Shell Gas station, convenience store, and a car wash. It is opened 24 hours a day and very busy around lunch time. The drive through line for Whataburger can almost wrap around the building at lunch time. Parking includes spaces for large rigs as well as cars. It is generally kept very clean. During my last visit during lunch time, it was suffering from a lot of concrete workers washing up in the restroom. They really needed a wash rack to wash up or a stroll through the car wash. The staff is always fast and friendly. The prices are higher but you are paying for the convenience.

In-N-Out Burger - Travel Day Redemption…read more Yesterday turned into one of those travel days where everything that could go sideways... did. We spent the morning finishing up a job and wrapped around 1:00 PM. From there it was straight to the Cleveland airport while trying to make flight reservations on the drive. Lunch? Not happening. Through TSA quickly, but then came the marathon walk to the gate. Houston was the same story -- another long trek between terminals while passing what felt like dozens of tempting places to eat. Unfortunately we had a short layover and no time to stop. By the time we landed in Dallas we were hungry, tired, and running on nothing but airplane snacks. Then came the next adventure... rental cars. None available. Finally Avis saved the day, but not before we stood outside in line waiting for cars to be cleaned and released to renters. Just when things couldn't get any stranger, the airport announced an evacuation alert. At this point we just looked at each other and laughed. But I had a plan. I told my traveling partner, "There's an In-N-Out about 10 minutes away once we finally get a car." Now that's motivation. We finally made the short drive and pulled into burger heaven. The drive-thru line was wrapped around the building (of course it was), so inside we went. No line! It was about 9:30 at night and the order was easy: * Double-Double Protein Style * Fries well done My buddy went classic with the Double-Double on the bun -- no shame there. One small disappointment... the shake machine was down. But a few minutes later the burgers arrived and all was forgiven. There isn't an In-N-Out anywhere in Oklahoma, so whenever I'm in Texas I take advantage. And after a day of airports, delays, missed meals, rental car chaos, and evacuation announcements... That burger tasted absolutely perfect. Of course the adventure wasn't over yet. We still had a three-hour drive home because tornado activity had temporarily shut down Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City. But at that point none of it mattered. Full bellies. Smiling faces. Happy ride home. Sometimes a great burger is exactly what the day needed.

I have never lived near one u til I moved to Dallas and yesterday I had a prime opportunity to try it out. I got the double double and tossed the bun. It was so tasty and the patty was perfectly cooked- it was NOT overcooked like so many burger places. It was filling and satisfying.

But this time (April 15, 2026 at 12:35) I pulled up through the drive through and the two people that were outside with tables looked at me with the most unwelcoming vibe. I asked if I had to order with the and the gentleman just nodded. He had a terrible attitude towards taking my order and when it was time to take my payment, he just held the reader close to him. I'm supposed to know when I'm ready to pay with no indication? No "hello how are you?" No "thank you have a great day". I understand times are tough but leave your bad day at home when you're getting paid to work a service job. Been in the industry for decades and attitudes are never rewarded, can't forget about the person at the window not greeting or anything until it was just time to hand me my food. I will not be coming back to this location.

Portillo's is typically a hit or miss with us here…read more Depending on what you get will actually determine how you like the food. We always get the [Jumbo] Hot dog, which is not as big as you'd expect, but it's tasty. We enjoyed eating the Jumbo Chili Cheese Dog, Char-Grilled Maxwell Street Polish Sausage, and the Char-Grilled Polish Sausage. These are all the hot dogs we typically order. We're not fans of the Italian Beef Sandwich nor the Big Beef Sandwich; they typically have a lot of gravy in them. The Char-Grilled Italian Sausage Sandwich wasn't worth it. If you side the gravy and don't add peppers (an extra charge), you'd literally just get the bread and the sausage. The fries and onion rings are usually mediocre, but it's good served as a meal. On the other hand, the staff has always been kind, both in-house and drive-thru. The place has never been too crowded.

It was one of those places you just kept going back to because the food was consistently great and it felt like a true Chicago institution. So when Portillo's finally came to Texas, I was thrilled. Let's start with the star of the show...the Italian Beef with hot peppers. It's incredible. Order it dipped and you will be in food heaven. And if you really want the ultimate Chicago move, make it a combo by adding the Maxwell Street sausage. That combination is absolute perfection. Messy, bold, and ridiculously good. Of course, the Chicago-style hot dogs are outstanding too. Just make sure you order it the right way and "drag it through the garden." That means the full lineup of toppings, just like they do in Chicago. It's the real deal. The sides are fantastic as well. The crinkle-cut fries are always solid, and the onion rings are super crispy and addictive. If you're trying to behave a little, the chopped salad is my wife's favorite. It's fresh, loaded with flavor, and honestly one of the best salads you'll get anywhere. And here's the surprise for people who haven't tried it...the hamburger is fantastic. Big, meaty, juicy, and full of flavor. I'll say it plainly. It's better than just about any fast-food or fast-casual burger out there. Bottom line...Portillo's isn't just another restaurant. It's a Chicago legend that delivers every single time. I'm glad Texas finally got the memo.
