He went on and on about how suits are bad quality these days and that, often, poor bonding causes bubbling with dry cleaning. I was not very happy about this, but accepted it could be the quality of the bonding. However, when I returned home and tried them on, one of the suits had shrunk so drastically that I could not even put on the pants or jacket. I am well aware that dry cleaning should never cause shrinkage, unless there is a mistake in the process or malfunction with the heating in the machine. I returned to the store to politely let him know what had happened and ask for an explanation. He immediately became extremely defensive and started shouting at me, saying it was impossible that it was the dry cleaning's fault and I could take him to VCAT (that's not even who you would complain to, it is Victorian Consumer Affairs) but that he would win. I told him to lower his voice and calm down, and eventually, he begrudgingly refunded me the $20 for the shrunken suit. When I then had to urgently purchase a new suit for an event, I asked the suit shop about the incident. They said it was almost certainly the dry cleaner's fault and this is, sadly, very common. The staff said they recommend dry cleaning no more than once a year (the suits had only been dry cleaned once before, about 18 months ago), but shrinking should never happen if the dry cleaning is done correctly. Avoid this place like the plague, even if only for the extremely rude and aggressive owner.
