Disappointing--and a little concerning…read more This place comes across less as a restaurant with a bar and more as a dingy bar that happens to serve food. That wouldn't necessarily be a dealbreaker if the food made up for it, but unfortunately it didn't. My wife and I shared the Ribs and Side Pieces. The ribs tasted okay, but they had considerably more fat and less meat than I prefer. The fries were similarly unremarkable--perfectly edible, but nothing I'd go back for. What really bothered me was the cleanliness. The bathroom was dirty. A friend of mine who owns several restaurants once told me that he considers the condition of a restaurant's bathroom a useful clue to how seriously management takes cleanliness in areas customers can't see. Fair or not, that thought was difficult to shake after seeing this one. More concerning: a few hours after our shared lunch, both my wife and I became sick. Obviously, I can't establish that the restaurant caused it, and I'm not claiming that it did. But given that we ate the same meal and both developed symptoms afterward, it's something I think is worth mentioning. Between the dingy atmosphere, dirty bathroom, mediocre food, and our unfortunate experience later that day, two stars feels generous.

Each item was delicious and made with love. A few in our group who are into smoking and bbq at home were impressed by the exceptional skill of the meat preparation (pulled pork and brisket). I am a huge fan of coleslaw and can be very critical and Darrell's coleslaw was delicious- creamy, crispy with just the right amount of zing. The beans and Mac and cheese were unique and delicious.
