We decided to sit outside as the sun was shining and pushed a couple of tables together to seat all six of us. Unfortunately, there were dirty plates and glasses left on the table and we eventually had to ask for these to be removed as none of the staff seemed keen to do this. You order your food at the bar. The inside of Lime is a massive void of a place decorated in brass with illuminous lighting. Not particularly pleasing to the eye and certainly more suited to the evening crowd. The menu is quite eclectic and has something to suit pretty much everyone. I went for the homemade burger. The food came pretty quickly. The burger was ok, the meat was decent but under seasoned and unfortunately the garnish made the bun soggy and it disintegrated in my hands before I got to the end. The chips were chunky but a little soggy and sadly there was approximately six of them - I have a hangover, I need more carbs! Other dishes including the club sandwich, sea bass and steak sandwich were well received but the noodles were missing from the oriental platter. However, this was quickly resolved by the wait staff. Overall, Lime is probably a better option than the standard chain restaurants that otherwise fill Salford Quays, it just seems to lack a certain je ne sais quoi.

The menu wasn't the best with mainly grills and salads and seemed quite expensive for what it was, i had the chilli burger at £12.95 a bit pricey though it was nice though the chips wasn't and seemed to quite bland and seemed to be cooked from frozen, they seems like the type u get from Tesco? It was just an ok meal, nothing to say that good about it really. Its a nice bar though and great if you wanted a couple of drinks before seeing a show at the the lowry theatre which is directly opposite or a couple of drinks on there terrace in the summer, but the food isn't that great for the money.

We went to Tib Street Tavern a few weekends ago to watch the first half of a Sunday Liverpool game…read more- the promise of some good food before having to watch football was enough to get me on board! Only knowing it as 'somewhere to watch the match', I was pleasantly surprised at the general atmosphere and interior of the pub/bar. We sat downstairs and managed to bag a table (roughly an hour before kick-off) at the edge of the room, giving me a good people watching spot and the other half a great view of the many, many large screens. People started to trickle in at the same time as us and, by half time - when we left to meet up with some friends - it was rammed, including people sitting on the stairs to capture what was supposed to be a Liverpool victory. Food wise, it's a simple menu but there's something for everyone. I had the steak sandwich with fries, and it was nice enough. The steak was cooked as requested, but the fries were a bit greasy, and the ones hidden under the sandwich were lacking any texture at all. As a place to go and find a compromise on a Sunday, I'm happy to be in Tib Street Tavern.

He then suggested a "similar" beer that I'd already had on several occasions that was not even remotely close to the AmberAle that I was looking to drink. Seriously? He flatly was a jerk. Must be new protocol in Manchester pubs. Experienced it repeatedly. Was more interested in the chat with his mates then providing any service whatsoever. Don't waste your time unless you enjoy a surly uninterested bartender and crap service.

That said, it is fairly welcoming to those of us who get snooker and pool mixed up (STILL) and who, contrary to popular belief, know the off side rule. But nothing else about football. The drinks are inexpensive and it's a good bar to go for a quiet chat. If you don't mind ve-ery casually dressed locals smoking outside the door, then this is the place for you. Don't dress up. Riley's got very busy on New Year's Eve last year as, like everywhere else, it was open late until about 2am. Other than this obvious exception, the only other time that I have seen it too busy to be comfortable was on a 21st birthday held there. I have never used their dancefloor here but you know, that's a personal choice.

Oddly located just off the Prestwich run, Riley's is primarily a snooker hall, supposedly supplying future Stephen Hendry's and Jimmy Whites of this world a place to practice and compete with one another at well competitive rates in a safe and relaxing environment, that also happens to house a couple of big screens, a bar, and a few sofa style back rests. Some hardcore pool players come here, but if you're local, then it'll be in your subconscious as a stomping ground for college age persons to come and socialise, and even get a bit rowdy when the DJ spins some tunes. Even as an attendee at Riley's I was never sure how the damn thing worked. Sometimes you needed a membership card, other times you didn't. Sometimes it depended who you were with, other times it was a matter of who was playing, if they were playing, if they weren't playing, and so on and so forth before they'd allow you to go in. It's a bit dingy in the décor department but as it isn't professing to be a glitzy American style snooker hall, it's almost expected, maybe preferred. One thing to bare in mind, it does have that vibe where if you're not local and you step in through the doors, everyone in there will turn around and have a good ole look at you and see where you're headed and what you're doing and such before they turn back to what they're doing. The bar staff and manager were really friendly and also nice to each other, which gave an overall very positive impression of how the Clarence is run. Upstairs in the attractive restaurant area we were seated by the window and were quickly approached for our drinks order by the server who was brilliant throughout the meal. She was very pleasant and efficient and gave me helpful advice on what to order. We started with the generous-sized black pudding and leek croquettes with a pear and porter sauce which bf loved. Next up I had the roe deer and bf had strip steak. Bf extremely happy with the steak and also commented that the chips were "American standard." I ate most of his perfectly cooked greens. My own dish was really interesting - it was cooked perfectly and also featured a little pie which I was not expecting! The menu has many good points. It's varied both in type of dish and price, so you can come for a special occasion or weekday dinner. It features local elements like the Bury black pudding. It has a good range of steaks. And it has more unusual dishes like the roe deer, venison in my experience being comparatively rare on Manchester menus. Drinks-wise, we enjoyed the light Sauvignon Blanc rose and some kind of delicious port-like dessert wine which was basically like drinking raisins without the plastic aftertaste. Unfortunately we did not get to sample the cocktail bar as it is only open Fridays and Saturdays but bf says it is v nice and if you dine you can normally get in for drinks, even though it's otherwise members only (£250 a year). Downstairs is a traditional pub and a few tables. I can imagine it gets very busy at the weekend. The restaurant, upstairs, is lovely and very large. After looking at the menu, it was clear that the sunday roast was going to be the winner, so i opted for the beef Sunday roast with yorkshire pudding and all the veg! We also ordered cauliflower cheese on the side as an extra. Overall i couldn't fault the meal. It was excellent and the service was impeccable too!
