Just an update - I called Customer Service about this and they told me that what this CTA employee is doing is not even a part of their policy. If the person ahead of you swipes their card, and the turnstile says enter, you are rightfully allowed to go through. I'm not at all about scamming the CTA out of a whopping $2.25. Just wanted to clear that up:) read more

I could probably write a book 30 chapters deep on the quantity of uncanny behavior my friends and I have encountered on the El: delusional crack fiends, bros, boosters, etc.; today wasn't any different. About 20 minutes ago a woman got on the blue line at Washington. I had already claimed my seat on the swarming train at Monroe, next to a pile of fried chicken bones and aging fingertips with disco nail polish. The woman boarded the train a riot, arms whipping around trying to detach themselves from her body. She bobbed left, right, forward, slid her fleshy palms up the handrail, and clung on as the train sped off to clark and lake. By the scattered eye rolls i'm pretty sure everyone in the cart had come to a acute awareness of this woman's inebriated presence. With each bump and groove she dipped her head into a patient brunette's extensions, breathing apologies down her neck. The woman's legs were useless, i felt like i was watching a paraplegic dangle from monkey bars. The El surfaced at Damen, i figured this woman was truly a champion of well deserved liberty... or at least my seat. L I T E R A L L Y, seconds after i got up, the woman trucked her head foreword and sprayed chunky, fluorescent, discharge all over the girl adjacent. The girl screamed bloody murder. I laughed so hard that i felt my whole body, the crowding of my teeth, the hole in my sock. The girl began cursing in heavy vocal fry and the woman slipped into my seat with a sigh of relief. i was so distracted that i hadn't noticed the el was already at my stop. I dashed to the doors just as they were closing, i did not slip out gracefully. The doors closed on my face popping a pimple i complained about to a coworker yesterday. With that said, the Blue Line is better than Pornhub, or the Kardashians, or that neighbor's mail you keep "accidentally" opening . read more

Blue Line CTA - Trains Near Me

Grrr..... I guess if I traveled on the blue line more often, I would probably be used to it by now. But I have taken it twice in the last week, and I am still bordering on mild amusement to severe disgust. I understand it's a popular route, but I felt like a sardine! And please, someone let me know, what is the special prize you win to be the first one off the train? I want to win. It seemed that everyone crushes up to the doors way before their stop, and are willing to even commit voluntary manslaughter to be the first one off the car! read more

Blue Line stations are always PRETTY-PRETTY clean, the train is fast and I've never feared for my life one way or another either at a stop, looking for my car at a lot outside of a terminal on my own. it can get busy but not to the degree where I want to vomit from claustrophobia, or heat stroke from all the bodies fumbling up against each other. Last year at Lolla somehow at the end of the night I managed to sneak into one of the cars of the FIRST train that stopped when I reached the station. There's plenty of seating/standing space and considering the amount of people that packed into that train and the luck I had sneaking in that night with the masses bumbling about at Lolla it was a glorious experience. Always heated/cooled depending on the weather to a fantastic degree and out of all the fancy colorful lines to travel I always "uulchh" if I have to take something other than the Blue. It's my favorite. read more

They suck! Always late and when they finally come there is 3 buses at the same time and all 3 going so slow like is not late already. Goddamnit!!! Ventra is another problem it says 5min to next one to arrive and takes 10min. Are u freaking kidding!!!!... ugh!!!! read more

I always enjoy the weird things I see on the L. The blue line is always packed, but usually clean. It is the closest line to my house so I use it all the time. read more

It always amazes me how quickly I can get from downtown to Wicker Park on this thing, and I love seeing things out the window from the time it surfaces briefly until it descends again in Logan Square. Until tonight I had never gotten off at North and Damen and headed toward the North exit. It's terrifying. Try to wait till the train has left the station as you pick your way along the very narrow platform (more like a trail). I would not enjoy this on an icy night. read more

This line stinks. Literally smells terrible. Every time I have come back from the airport it has smelled like an old wet dog. Why wouldn't it homeless people use it to transport bags of garbage all over the place. read more

Seems like some people are venting their frustrations about their bad one time experience of the CTA on yelp. Like for example one person is complaining about a 20 minute delay and basically bashing the CTA overall due to that experience. Sure many of us don't think they are perfect but don't go by just one experience. read more

I've lived off the blue line for several years now and I've grown to like it more than the red. The red seems crowded all the time but the blue is mostly only crowded during rush hour. Having O'hare at the end of it is a definite plus. I think the brown line beats em all though. read more

The Blue Line gets me to my destination, but I have to say the Brown Line is a little better. Unfortunately, the Blue Line attracts a ton of shady characters, but what el train doesn't? The Blue Line does the job, but I think they can clean the trains more often. I remember reading an article regarding the cleanliness of the trains... and it made me dry-heave afterwards. read more

The blue line is the second most dirty train line in the city since it's running 24 hours going to and from O'Hare, but again it's also the most secluded at some stops since mind you this is the west side we're talking about and shady stuff is nothing new for locals, but to tourists they need to be careful traveling on the blue line more at night. It is a little cleaner than the red line, but not a huge fan of the smell of piss from drunks and homeless people turning train cars into a public washroom. What is ridiculous is the $5 fare to come into the city from O'Hare. read more

Not like anyone from the city will read this, but what a joke this is. Most nights trains run on one track so always expect delays. Never wear your shoes in your house after using any CTA because you will step on urine at some point. 9/10 rides I take people are openly smoking cigarette in the car or weed. 9/10 rides there is spit or dirty food all over the ground. I'd say once a day/night there is a robbery or fight. It's a joke to anyone who visits from any other city. Hard to imagine another system even in another country being worse or dirtier than Chicago's. read more

the blue line gets me to work in less than 10 minutes. that alone is wonderful. sure, it's crowded...but it's RUSH hour. my station (chicago) is a pit toilet, but the train is still a okay in my book. i would say best line, in my humble opinion. read more

i know it's by chance or so-called "bad luck" but can someone explain to me why 3 out of 3 times i've wanted to use it in the last month it's been on-fire??? watch out for the washington stop.. it's always out of order, and smells like ash even when its not burning. the most frequent of the lines however. read more

The great thing about the Blue Line is that it runs to O'Hare and it runs 24-7; not as clean as other lines but I will admit that when we go underground - all those people on their cell phone lose connection and I get a nice 20 minutes of silence and not have to listen to someone else' conversation - why is it when people are on their cell phone - they have to raise their voices? read more

I prefer the Blue Line anyday over any other Line...Perhaps because its 2 blocks away from me? Nah, its because it gets me straight to downtown and to the airport. Great for eye candy in the morning to see all the hot business men going to work. :P read more

Anyone who loves the blue line does not have to use it to commute every day. Worst el line in the city (although come to think of it I have never ridden the green line, but I bet it's worse). So slow, trains so infrequent, it takes for F'ing ever...I really don't want to ride it later today... read more

No More Slow Zones!!! I get home in 30 mins and before it was a damn hour. However they need to clean the trains they are downright disgusting at times. read more

The dude at the Damen Blue Line stop creeps me out but service does seem to be better lately and the cars have been cleaner.

Coming from Oklahoma City, I love riding public. It's cheaper than owning a car. You don't have to worry about upkeep, flats (atleast ones you will deal with), insurance, and of course gas. I love the blue line. It gets me where I need to go and USUALLY on time. If you're expecting luxury, hire a driver. If you can't afford to hire a driver, buy a bike and quit bitching. read more

my review is based on using the blue line to get to o'hare.... because i remember yelping it to see if that was a good idea.... so now that i've been-there-done-that, i thought i'd share my feedback: brilliant! there's no reason to take a taxi and shell out a penny more than $2 to get to the airport. and it drops you off AT the airport. no extra shuttle from there. you just pick your terminal and keep walking. it's such a delight to be sitting on that train when you see traffic at a dead halt on 90/94 and know that you only paid $2 and you'll get to your flight on time. sure, it can get mad smushed and you have to deal with juggling luggage on the train, but pick a stop with an elevator (western as opposed to damen, in my case), and relax! this is one place where the cta really got it right. read more

I still love the Blue Line and it is still one of my most favorite L lines, but one thing that has been troubling me over the past couple months---what in the frickin' hell is up with these trains having only four cars on weekends?! Somebody explain that to me, CTA perhaps? It looks so odd seeing a subway train having four cars! I'm used to the elevated lines always having four cars at any given time and day, but the Blue Line subway having four cars on Saturdays and Sundays? This would make a great Saturday Night Live parody, and what happened this past Saturday afternoon at the Jackson stop solidifies that. Four young men, probably around my age, were waiting for an O'Hare-bound train. When one came and they saw it had four cars...they pointed at the train and then the whole tunnel erupted with boisterous laughter, their laughter, that lasted for over 20 seconds, and died down somewhat when one shouted "Gottttttt damn!" I couldn't help but laugh too when they did. Hey, laughing's contagious. But I went over to them and told them why the trains now have four cars on weekends, "I heard that ridership is down. That's why they're running four cars." CTA, I don't care if ridership is down on the Blue Line. I say NO to four-car trains on weekends. Give them six cars, got damnit. read more

Truthfully it is running much faster but I am holding that star for the fast train to O'Hare.

The blue line is home for me. It's never as crowded as the redline nor is it as bourgeois as the brown line. You can even get a good shot of the city between California and Damen. read more

The blue line has gotten sketchy over the past 5 years. Homeless are allowed to camp out in cars. Sanitation and health issues are a concern. Ride at your own risk. Police presence is minimal. read more

Watch out for Blue Line cars with exposed metal which catches clothes and tears. See photos posted read more

other than the fact they are always working on this line, it does go to O'Hare and downtown. Its pretty dirty although and quit smelly read more

Pros: Gets me from point A to point B as needed Cons: Noisy, occasionally (often?) smelly, various d-bags like to block open seats or collect money for fictional basketball teams I don't own a car, so I always come back. read more

The Blue Line is alright. Even though it gets crowded at times, it's the closest CTA train to where I live and it's the fastest way for me to get to downtown. read more

I really hate these trains. Always packed like sardines. People breezing on you neck, literally. They sneeze and cough in your face, I am constantly catching their viruses. The train shakes like crazy, the tickets are way too expensive for the quality of the ride. With all the taxes I am paying in Chicago, I would expect a bit better public transportation. read more

Why plastic sits?! I'm commuting and for half an hour every morning shivering on these awful plastic sits. It's cold as hell.

it's not always clean, but it comes often at my stop at western, so i can't really complain too much. the people on the blue line are the ones i sometimes can't tolerate...but that isn't really the CTA's fault read more

Every morning I ride thr blue line to work at 4am there's always homeless people sleeping on the train. The body odors are horrible and you can't move to another train because there homeless people on the other cars. One morning I seen a homeless guy urinating on the train while in his seat, one guy picking his nose putting it on the hand rails UGH. One morning there was a guy coughing and scratching picking out of his hair flicking whatever came out of hids hair. I was so upset that when I was getting off the train I used napkins to hold on the hand rails since I work at a hospital I will be wearing disposable gloves fo now on. Please CTA do somthing about the homeless problem someone is going to catch TB or somthing . read more

You will rue the day when you have to take the Blue Line to O'hare during a non-rush hour time. Even more rueing will ensue if you have to travel TO the Loop first by some other equally ridiculously smelly and slow train. I mean, it is just insulting how long it takes. A smart transportation system would have some sort of express train at least every hour that left from the loop. But as far as I've seen for the past 5 months, smart does not equal CTA. read more

Sunday March 9, 2014, around 2pm in the afternoon. The Irving Park Blue line train stop has only one machine where you do not have to use the Ventra card. That machine is broken. The people in a hurry who were trying to add value to their card to get on the train with their non-Ventra card were refused entry onto the train because they did not have a Ventra card. The CTA attendant was rude, verbally abusive, and tried to force everyone to buy a Ventra card instead of letting passengers in for free on account of the CTA's broken machine. I was just an honest consumer trying to get on the train. I wasn't trying to get a free ride, but honestly, I should have gotten one in this case. Instead I was verbally abused, yelled at, told to make a consumer choice that I didn't agree with, and I was refused entry onto the train. I think the woman who was working at the time needs some training in customer service so that this does not happen again. I don't think it was her place to try to tell me to buy the Ventra card or not. That is my decision. She could have spoken all of the words she said much more politely and then left the Ventra Card area. Instead she displayed hostile body language, yelled, and blocked entry to the machines. I tried calling two CTA numbers to complain, but today is Sunday and no one is there. I tried calling 311 and they don't take CTA complaint calls. So unfortunately, this is going to happen to several more people until the issue gets resolved. The CTA should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!! read more

hahaha, you can review the blue line?! what the hell waste of time is that. about the same as yelping i'd say. "oh, it smells like the back of a bums underwear in here." no shit, it's public trans., welcome to chicago, bitches. read more

Riders be aware. I used to take this from Rosemont to downtown LaSalle every day. On three occasions, my wallet was lifted from my purse at the LaSalle station while purchasing tokens. As soon as the door open, I ran. read more
