Not sure why, as I have no affiliation with Care Animal Center and am just a very satisfied pet owner/client. Can't update the old review given its "not recommended" status but I just wanted to include an update that we have continued to get great, nuanced care from Dr. Spencer. She effectively uses the history and physical exam to get the right diagnosis and avoid over-testing. As a result, our little English bulldog is thriving and so much healthier than her peers, despite a bunch of inherent bulldog-specific health issues. Dr. Spencer and her staff truly love their animal clients and are good with their anxious/worried human clients, too. They've been very patient in educating me and our dog is so excited to visit the vet -- she remembers and loves everyone there. We also had a session with Melanie Brown, a trainer who works as a veterinary technician in the office. I didn't expect much from our very bull-headed bulldog but in one visit we saw major changes, including obeying several commands, less pulling on the leash (she was so out of control I could no longer walk her), and no more lunging at the neighbors' barking dogs during walks. Two days after our training session, our dog calmly spent 3 days uncrated in the same room with grandpa's Chihuahua, whom she had previously attacked (clamped down on his neck with her jaws). Now we can visit without keeping one of them locked in a crate or separate room. We are going to see Melanie again for help in socializing our dog so that we can go to dog parks and put her in daycare. Once again, I have no personal or financial affiliation with Care Animal Center, Dr. Spencer, Melanie Brown, or any CAC affilliates. I'm just really grateful to have found CAC as before that point we were struggling to care for our adopted high-maintenance and illness-prone bulldog.

As soon as I walked in, the staff helped me right away. Even though there was a short wait (which is totally understandable), it was absolutely worth the 15-30 minute drive. Morty ended up needing another rabies shot, and I was nervous at first, but the doctor was so reassuring and explained everything clearly. They told me that if my pup had any kind of reaction, I could bring him back immediately, and they would take care of him. That gave me so much peace of mind. What surprised me most was the price; coming from Illinois, I expected it to be much higher. When they told me the cost upfront, I honestly thought I had misheard because it was so affordable. They repeated it, and I was shocked in the best way possible. The service, compassion, and value they provide are outstanding. I'm incredibly thankful for the care they gave to Morty and for how professional and kind everyone was. I couldn't recommend Bell Animal Hospital enough to anyone looking for an affordable, trustworthy, and caring place for their pets.

Yelp, please do not place this review in "not currently recommended" and please can you move the 7…read moreout of 9 good reviews that somehow fell into that category back onto Animal Care Clinic's (ACC) main page? Thx in advance and feel free to keep the above as part of my review. I was recommended to come here YEARS ago (1999). I had three cats (Prelude, Gismo and Nala) and they were all treated with compassion on each visit. Please note, I no longer have the first cat (an old friend took him) or third cat (in heaven), so the rest of this review is for Gismo only. I moved out-of-state back in 2010, therefore had to find a new vet for him (side note: flying Gismo was probably stressful). I've been to 5-6 vets out here (i.e. annual checkups, shots and once for Cali's crappy flea infestation/deworming treatments) and so far they've all been either rude, uncaring and/or aggressive. I know most people would say their pet is the best, but my baby Gismo IS the sweetest being one could ever meet (EVERYONE - including those who hate cats or even allergic to cats - love him)! So you can imagine how I felt when he's not getting the attention he is used to and deserves. Another side note: Gismo is currently sick at 15 years of age and I believe I finally found a comparable place to ACC so I'm thankful (hopefully he gets better asap). WHY DO I GIVE SUCH A HIGH/GOOD RATING? In November 2014, I decided to DRIVE 2,000+ miles back to IL (avoiding another plane ride for him since I know he actually likes car rides) so he could have a visit with my great vet in Rock Island, IL! That speaks volumes for this company and I want others there to understand how lucky you all are!!! I did not know they changed owners, nor did I read posts on here beforehand and during my visit NOTHING HAD CHANGED (I did not notice any difference from all the years I had been there). They took pix of Gismo with their winter scenery and even mailed me the prints, too! I love this place and highly recommend it. Thx for taking the time to read my Yelp review.
