Here's a clean, readable Yelp-style review that keeps your experience intact but flows more…read moresmoothly and sounds polished: First Visit to Splash Zone - Overland, Ohio This was my first visit to Splash Zone in Overland, Ohio. Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Outdoor pool My kids…read moreloved it! I have been to splashzone for years and this was my first time utilizing the outdoor pool. It costs $8 per person no matter the age. We had three young children with us. You enter through the main pool area and walk to your right out a set of doors. There is a large pool area that is sectioned off for different uses. There is a gradual entry area with a water playground for kids, this is connected to the main part of the pool that gets about 5 feet deep. There are 2 slides that you have to be 48 inches to ride. The lifeguards have a break for 15 minutes after 45 minutes of swimming. All kids have to get out of the water. While waiting there are lots of lounge chairs, a snack shack offer ice cream, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. along with a playground and swing area for the kids. There are also two indoor areas you can take the kids to play with the frog pool for younger kids and the indoor water playground.

In the Spring of 2020, I signed up my kids, ages 2 and 3, for water babies. It was supposed to be a 6-week class for $85 each, so $170 total one evening a week at 6:30. We'd done it twice before, and we all enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit. Understandably, the classes were canceled, then rescheduled and canceled again. I explained that the day didn't matter so much as the time, and we needed a late class because my husband and I both worked day turn and could not make an early class. They followed up with me once or twice after that, and I followed up with them as well, but they never again offered a 6:30 class. Finally, after two years of constantly checking for a late class, which again was never offered, I asked for a refund, which the manager refused. I called, but he never returned my call. I sent FB messages, but no one returned my messages. My husband called a few more times, but not a single message or phone call was returned. I hoped to work this out amicably, but I've since filed a dispute with my bank and Paypal. I've seen a lot of poor customer service and bad business practices since the pandemic hit, but this, by far, has to be the most unprofessional, incompetent, and shameful service to date. TLDR: I paid for classes which THEY canceled, now they are no longer offering those same classes, but also refuse to refund me or allow me to use that credit towards something else. UPDATE: After the recommendation from my credit card company, I reached out to the Atty General's office. The AG rep was able to actually get somewhere and someone from Reform replied with an unsigned email falsely accusing me of bullying and harassment. They've blatantly lied about speaking to me multiple times on the phone, but okay I'll take a gift certificates. But then after I accepted their offer, myself and the rep from the Atty General's office had to reach out an additional 3 times before someone replied again and said that they now would only offer me a gift certificate IF I removed my reviews. The mere fact that I had to go all the way to the Atty General's office to even get a response speaks volumes to their business practices. They have had my money for over two years now and have not once provided any type of service. At one point, I would've gladly used the credit towards private lessons but their lack of professionalism and frankly immoral business dealings makes me sick to my stomach.

So, I have been a member of many gyms over my lifetime. I use to live in LA and have been a member at high end gyms all the way to your middle of the road. The same goes for here in NE Ohio. I will honestly say I am very happy with The Natatorium. The customer service I have received has been great, the gym and locker room has always been clean, the equipment has always been functioning properly and the people have been pretty cool making it a great environment to get a good workout in. I really love the fact that this facility has a wide array of machines, free weights, Hammer Strength equipment, basketball and racquetball courts. I also love that there are many stations where you can squat and also a place to deadlift which I have found in the past has been frowned upon in some gyms. Another plus is the fact this facility has an upstairs with tons of cardio equipment, an ab area and a track that you can choose to walk or run. Just pay attention to the lane that you are suppose to be in and the direction it changes daily. I almost forgot about the steam room and the pool area if you want to take a dip or swim some laps. When your workout is done you can buy some smoothies, sandwiches, coffee and açaí bowls at Sandy Bottom Bowls. I have purchased a few items and they have been pretty darn good. My favorite is the PB@A Bowl. Make sure you get one of the cards and get it stamped at every purchase. I believe after 10 items you get a free bowl. So far I am very happy with The Natatorium and look forward to many more epic workouts. Thanks!
