They said to bring it in with no appointment , I was happy and one lucky first time client. They did a diagnostic first and let me know what was the problem then call me to let me know what was wrong and what needed to be done at the same time chk to update my oil change .. it was time for Carlani oil change.. he gave the price how much it was going to cost before they fix the problem. I was happy with the price and happy with the service. Save me gas and time to drive off island for my yearly service. Praise the Lord! There was one major issue. I told the owner that I was going to be taking my car on a long road trip and I needed all the safety checks done, tires checked, oil changed etc etc. When I went to pick up the car I specifically asked him about the tires and he said they looked good. Part way on my trip the sidewall of one of the tires gave out. The tire repair shop was flabbergasted to find that my tires were 25 years old. I had absolutely no idea they were that old (I did not put the tires on the car, I bought it second hand). I was relying on Blue Canary to do the paid for safety checks for me. When I returned to Blue Canary and told the owner (manager?) what I had discovered he definitely did not act surprised, dismayed, or even apologetic. He said he doesn't typically check the age of the tires. Something that several tire experts I spoke to said should be one of the first things done! It is extremely fortunate that I did not end up in a serious accident. I definitely would never rely on his assurance that things were taken care of and safe. In addition to the subpar service related to tire safety I also paid a considerable sum of money to have my engine cleaned. It definitely was not cleaned (didn't look like it had been cleaned at all). A rodent deterrent pack had been put inside the hood.... A very EXPENSIVE rodent pack since it appears that was all my expensive "engine cleaning" involved. He did offer to re-clean it when I got back to town and he was willing to do so when I brought it back in. However when I started talking with him about the situation with the tires I got totally disgusted with his attitude and left. I will not be back. And if you are concerned about anything that could be related to safety I would be cautious having it serviced by Bainbridge Blue Canary. read more

Reliable. Honest. Professional. Knowledgeable. That about sums it up. I had always taken our cars to the dealership for service - after all who could do better? However, living on Bainbridge Island, it was a full day's effort to get our cars to the dealership and back. A neighbor recommended Blue Canary Automotive Repair on Bainbridge Island. They are simply the best! Everyone working at Blue Canary is an expert mechanic. They even detected an intermittent "warble" in a heater fan that the dealership couldn't find. When the Costco tire center said they couldn't get new Michelin tires for my Ford Fusion, Blue Canary in Bremerton had them in two days and they did a perfect wheel alignment - no more pulling to the right! Jeremy and Carl are my heroes. I showed up to the shop 20 minutes from closing with a recently bought Subaru that suddenly wouldn't start then turned over with the check engine light on. I'm supposed to drive this car cross country next month. Stressed and teary eyed with 2 large dogs in tow and an anxiety attack looming, I meet Jeremy. I swear anyone else would have run away. But Jeremy made me feel immediately better. He and Carl looked at my car and determined my battery was low. They assured me the car was in good condition and didn't even charge me. They gave me back my confidence in the vehicle I'd purchased and in humankind. Thanks to these 2 gentlemen, I regained hope that great human beings exist. One visit they told me my brakes needed to be replaced. The very next visit, they told me my brakes were good! This specific experience made me lose trust in them and I switched to another mechanic on the island. Those folks were consistent about my brakes being good, then gradually reducing to "need to do it soon," over the next YEAR after Blue Canary initially told me to do my brakes before they finally needed to be replaced! As someone who is not car savvy, I need to trust my mechanic to advise me, not try to make a buck out of me. read more

I am mostly writing this review in regards to my 1984 Volkswagen Westfalia. If you have a VW & want it to have a relationship with a GENIUS mechanic go see Kenny he's AMAZING. I have definitely had my van worked on at other places which specialize in Westy's but here is by far the best all around. Also I get my Audi Q7 serviced at BC and they have done great work on that car as well. Thumbs up to Jeremy for always helping to make it happen. read more

I like the potential here. Clint, the owner, is very personable and is happy to share his knowledge of cars with you. He is very selective about who does work under his brand, as well, so he is obviously concerned about long-term relationships with the community. Good prices on most services that I inquired about. Had to get my battery jump started on the Bainbridge ferry. Called Blue Canary and they had ordered me a new battery before I got there and, as we no longer live nearby, they moved us to the front of the line, tested the rest of the charging system, replaced the battery and sent us on our way. We've always had great service and fair pricing here and we'll continue to use them. They're worth the extra trip. Highly recommend Clint and his great staff! read more

My father-in-law gifted our family with a 1997 Lincoln Town Car and it's a great second car for our 20-year old daughters - a real smooth driving tank. However, being 22 years old the car is very temperamental. Cary at Blue Canary owns a similar old model and knows it inside out. He has been able to diagnose and fix recent stalling problems quickly and has showed me some of the Lincoln's secrets - like the fuel pump shut-off in the trunk. Before getting the Lincoln this January I have been bringing our 2007 Nissan Sentra to Blue Canary and the team there really keeps it running well. I've had two experiences. The first was we had our Jeep in for an oil change and found a big oil stain in our driveway a week later. I found the oil filter had not been screwed in all the way. The second was that we had a water pump installed and it went bad less than 2 years later. I was happy to hear about a 2 year 24000 mile warranty but was told "sorry your 500 miles over". When I asked about these two things I got mainly the "oil filters can wiggle loose" and "it's not uncommon for water pumps ($550 per) to go out every two years". They did wave the assessment fee but could have told us "no go" on warranty even before popping the hood. They didn't want to make concessions on the work given the situation so we won't be back. I guess business is good enough with so few options on the island. read more

I was able to get scheduled for service quickly and the the diagnostic report and estimates I got back we're clear and easy to understand. I was able to understand the priorities I needed to address and the detailed cost estimate broke things down perfectly. On the contrary, when I brought it in for service you took it for a test drive and said to bring it back because you would take care of me- I had it towed per YOUR REQUEST to your shop. Then, you told me nothing could be done. Seems strange to bring it in for service, have it towed back for service and still not get service! You blew it on this one, as did your mechanic! read more

Let me try to count the accolades for Blue Canary. I was stuck across the street with my Acura, which wouldn't turn over, although the battery was strong and no noticeable cables disconnected. Took a walk to Blue Canary where I was welcomed by Kerry and Sterling. Clint would be right with me. Clint took charging and diagnostic equipment to the car, then determined that the distributor assembly needed to be replaced. One could arrive by 2:30 p.m. with the Acura ready to go by 5:00 when they closed. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised with a call at 4:30 that the distributor assembly was replaced and the car ready to go! What incredible professional and customer service! I also appreciated that I didn't have to get a tow truck to take my car across the street. BTW, Clint is an ASE Master Technician and owner of Blue Canary. read more

I would give them zero stars if that was possible but unfortunately, it is not. Stay away from Blue Canary. They are not trustworthy and incompetent! My wife took her car there to have them look into an engine light. It took them 14 days to get the car back to us after replacing just the thermostat. The bulk of this time was lost because they forgot about the car until I called to see if it was ready after the first weekend. The remaining time was a comedy of errors as they went back day after day trying to get the correct part to complete the job. On the 9th day after dropping off the car, I received a call from Blue Canary stating that my wife's car had been vandalized while on their lot. Needless to say, I was frustrated because had they done the work right away, the car would not have been there. The owner assured me that they would cover the cost of the repairs. We took the car to the body shop they requested to get the repairs done but when we called to get the car, we were told that Blue Canary was not refusing to pay the cost. The shop would release our car until we either paid or gave them a claim number. I called Blue Canary (leaving a message because they never seem to pick up) to see what was going on. When they called back later they said they were not paying because their insurance was not going to cover the damage. When I asked why they failed to let us know, the person I spoke with said they had told us, which is a blatant lie since neither my wife nor I had received any calls from them. Now we are stuck having to work this out through our own insurance company well after the fact. In order to avoid a similar experience, I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere like we will be doing. read more

Same location as the previous shop, definitely new ownership! The building has been redone and the new owner seems very low-key, professional, open and competent. I just got my oil changed but it seems like they're set up to do full maintenance and mechanical work as well. Yesterday, on my way to a work meeting in Seattle, my vehicle suffered a mechanical issue in the ferry terminal that made it virtually undrivable for anything beyond a very short transit. I was definitely in a bit of a bind considering my resources and being quite a distance from home. I did a search for mechanics nearby and fortunately located Blue Canary. I have now returned to Blue Canary twice for service on my 2008 Prius and it has been a great experience both times. First, I got a long-overdue oil change and inspection. When I picked up my car, I received a checklist of everything they had inspected and my car's status. I was told I needed a minor part replacement in the near future and given an itemized price quote. About a month later, I had that work done at Blue Canary too; the price was exactly as they had quoted, and, as with the oil change, they completed the work well in advance of the pickup time I had requested. Every time I have called to schedule an appointment, I have received a prompt reply, and they handle everything in a very professional and organized manner. Plus, how can you not love taking your car to a place called the Blue Canary?! So far for me, they have taken the stress out of car maintenance. The convenient location is great. (I also got a car wash at the same location, which appears to be a different business, but it was very thorough and very affordable!). read more

The proprietor seems like a good person. Last Tuesday I had an appointment for an oil change. I showed up when they opened at 9 am. He did not find in his computer that he'd made the appointment with me 5 days earlier but agreed to take me in anyway. He told me there was one customer before me, and that it would cost $92. I said that one year earlier it had cost $61. He said he'd look at that. Our arrangement had been that I would wait. He took my cell # and I walked down to a coffee shop. One and a half hours later I had not been called but walked back to the shop anyway, and saw that the van had not been moved. I walked on home (only a half mile away) and had lunch. I then called and got the answering machine and left 2 #'s to call. Nothing for another half hour. My wife arrived home and said that the van was in the same place. I finally walked back, and at 2:10 pm, 5 hours later, got my keys back from an employee and drove home. The van had never been worked on, and to this time I've never received a call explaining what went wrong. No apology, nothing. read more
