ON THE DEEP END The last time I stayed at Bally's, which is now The Horseshoe, was in March 2014. At that time the Blu Pool wasn't open for to the public as I believe due to drainage issues. About 9 years later I stayed at The Horseshow where I stayed for 5 nights in the second of July this year. During my stay I swam at the Blu Pool multiple times including on the day of my check-out when the weather at Vegas was 116 F. Each pool at each hotel has different features. At the Horseshoe the feature of the Blu Pool is the deep end, which is 15 feet deep. The deep end incentivizes you to swim. This isn't a party pool as a lot are in Vegas and because of that this pool isn't very crowded as others. Even though I enjoy the atmosphere of party pools there are times I want to relax when I'm at a pool. One of the most relaxing times when I was at Vegas was swimming at the deep end of this pool. You only get to swim at the deep end of the pool is if there are lifeguards at that area. The one thing I didn't like about the Blu Pool is the lifeguards aren't at that area the first hour and last hour when the pool is open. Even though the Blu Pool is free for the guests, people are on vacation would like if the deep end of the pool is available for the whole time. If you want to unwind I recommend swimming at the deep end of the Blu Pool.

Benches along the sides to relax when you're tired from swimming.

If you're going to Vegas with kids, this pool is perfect for families. This pool has a deep end and a shallow end. They divide the depth by buoys. The shallow end is 3ft-5ft and the edges of the pool are lined with benches. So it's perfect for kids to sit and chill when they're tired of swimming, but still allows them to keep their body submerge in the water. Upon entering we just had to show our hotel key and they asked how many towels we needed. There was a crowd but people were still considerate in trying to distance, but it's a pool so what can you do. There's still a lot of lounge chairs but they ask that you not move the furniture We prepared ourselves by bringing our kids floaties and their own goggles, but they do have equipment for rent if needed. We had a pleasant visit and will definitely come back again.

No bells and whistles but still a great pool! Loved the seating around the pool. Has a deep end of 13 Feet or something deep like that. Seating was always easy to find. There's food and drinks to order via bar or the servers that walk around. Bartender Ace was really cool and easy to talk to. Our server by the pool was very friendly and prompt with food. Drinks and food is high, I would recommend leaving out to eat at the Food Court. The palm trees surrounding the area made the pool look really nice. Not a very loud environment with the music or party goers. Very relaxing place.

Rented cabana for $100 for the whole day.

My husband and I really enjoyed the Blu Pool. We highly suggest investing in a cabana for the day. You get it from 9am to whenever the pool closes. They keep the fridge stocked with bottled water, there is a TV, a ceiling fan, and misters. If you get there right away at 9am, you can probably pick which one you want time be in. It was $100 well spent. If you think you will finish a pitcher of drinks, get that. It's the best value.

Okay. Edible.

Uh. NO! No. I mean, it's fine if you and/or a group want drinks and a pool with a low key crowd. Don't eat food here. It's a for real for real Cafe. Like, not a bougie one, but an 8th grade cafeteria kind of cafe. The chicken strips tasted like Dino nuggets, not 100% breast meet. AND not cooked all the way. Same for the tator tots, cooked enough to be defrosted but not long enough so they just mushy Music is no bueno. Not hip, not trendy. Just a bunch of older top 40. My Green Eyed cocktail was good. Typical Vegas high price, but good. Some of the veggies were dried out, but my little hummus and veggie kit was edible. Just...plan to eat elsewhere later and be with people for conversation. Or read a book in the shade.

Love pool was okay. We enjoyed our pool day. I would suggest making an announcement when the bar is closing. We walked up and so did 3 other people behind us and waited to be told 5 mins later it's closed by staff. There was a dj and we heard him the whole time so maybe make a "last call" announcement at least. But if I stayed here again I would suggest it. Just honestly to secure seating or rentals.

What an enjoyable way to spend a late morning and early afternoon! We arrived at the registration desk, and were greeted in a very friendly way by the staff. We were given our fresh towels, and when we inquired about a daybed the process was simple. The daybed is essential on a hot July day like the one we had. A tip for visitors, the day beds can be rented for half a day, as opposed to the full day. Overpriced drinks but that's to be expected. Both of our drinks were delicious and very enjoyable while we were poolside. The pool itself is very well-maintained and was fun to swim in. I would absolutely visit this pool again!

Not a day club with a big name DJ. Also a pool that is good for all ages. It's not the greatest, but more lax than the clubs with cover and overcrowding. There is music, waitresses, cabanas and two big pools and no cover. Because it is a pool for all ages they block off the deep end of the pool and the shallow end. There are plenty of pool chairs to get a tan and relax.

Some things to know: *The pool closes early...like 6:00. *The bar closes even earlier, 5:00 on the dot! *The drinks are terrible and they are insanely expensive. *In the late afternoon, there are people trying to swim laps in the deep end. It's super awkward. *The pool and its surrounding area are old and dated, and your view is of the tram tracks and the hotel. This pool is a little sad.

We came here for the weekend, such a great pool. We were happy they were open as we have heard many pools have a nationwide shortage of lifeguards. They have a 12 foot deep end !! Staff was friendly and they have some great frozen drinks during a hot Vegas summer! I enjoyed my day bed and hung out by the pool. They were open 10am till 5 pm.. thanks for a great experience at Ballys!

Quiet Tuesday

Stumped for where to kill time, Tim M. and I furiously searched online for cheap day pools. Blu really did the trick for us! We waltzed in for free (not sure we were that special, but it made us feel sneaky) and snagged a few lounge chairs pretty easily around 3pm on a May Tuesday. We stayed until the sun went behind the parking structure. I definitely liked how non-pretentious the pool was. The crowd is very "come as you are" and perhaps more on the older side, at least on this day. But I definitely liked the chill factor. There's a nice ledge on the longer side of the pool, which faces the setting sun and is perfect for hanging out. Sure, it's not super classy. You hear and see the monorail every 5 minutes, and the view all around isn't particularly stunning. Oh, and the birds sound wacko. But if you want some over-priced drinks and an easy place to hide away, this spot is definitely a good choice.

Steve and I enjoying life at Blu pool.

Dina and Derek make this a perfect experience. Awesome customer service and hospitality. We feel our vacation has reached a level of greatness unmatched by any other. Thank you Ballys for supporting your staff and employing wonderful people. We highly recommend!!!

Decent, long walk from rooms. $17- drinks (ridiculous) they aren't worth $9-. Not warm.

While I was sad I was not going to be basking in the sun under the Eiffel Tower, the Blu Pool turned out to be a great pool.

And I was surprised to see just as many people (well, towels) staking their claim of chairs. So again, get there by 10am if you want a good spot for your needs. We hung out at one of the lagoons (east? west?)... can't remember. All I know is that the other lagoon was closed all day. Maybe due to a shortage of life guards or waitstaff, but it did create a lot overflow into the one lagoon. You can order food/drinks at the counter stand or wait to flag down a server (and they come around pretty often). Clean restrooms onsite, a pool shop selling pool needs like swimmies, flip flops, sunscreen, etc. The only thing I ordered was an aperol spritz, and for some reason, the cocktail server brought me a big gulp size (instead of asking me for my pref). Def too big and not something I would have opted for.

I am not a pool person, but my family is booo. (Just kidding) of course they enjoyed it. I just went for a tan. Anyway the cabana basic whatever that means starts at 500.00 bucks.... They have a lazy river but you have to buy the inner tube. I did see others bring your own and there is air stations for your convenience. This visit we didn't bother with it. You don't have to stay here to use the pool: Mandalay Bay Beach offers a limited number of day passes to non-registered hotel guests depending on availability. My family enjoyed it!!!

They did a good job guarding their posts and did not create an awkward environment while photo taking. I have been to the pool for photos or for pool use and it's nice. I don't remember if there was DJ music during my pool use or if it was quiet to keep the classy vibe. I would recommend staying here and taking advantage of this pool and the gym. The gym has a fancy water dispenser with your choice of flavored syrups (I think) and also the level of sparkling bubbles to add to your water. Some flavors may run out for the day, but by tomorrow will be there. It was really nice to have that option as well to choose the temperature of the water. It made working out enjoyable to have a little treat at the end. In the past, there were bananas and oranges they would have. That was a nice amenity and I wish they would bring that back for those who suffer from blood sugar levels dropping and muscle cramps for people like me.

Even though I was told the pool is heated, the water didn't feel as warm as I wanted it to be. I did appreciate that they had 2 life guards on duty for a pretty small pool. Since we're well into autumn and basically entering winter climate, only the Sky Pool was open when we visited (and 2 nearby jacuzzi pools) for all the hotel guests. Towels are up for grabs and readily available. There was plenty of seating (probably cuz it's not that warm) so we didn't need to reserve the large seats/cabanas for our large party. I was a bit bummed to not know the full "Sky Suite private pool" experience, but our kids had a blast playing in the pools!

I will definitely be back for the jacuzzi and some more sunbathing.
