Such a lovely library! The children's section is excellent with a toy alcove, puppet show, and wide section of picture books and chapter books. There are quiet areas for studying and common areas for visiting with friends. There is a great selection of new releases as well.

Cute graphic novel from the library! Recipes and tutorials through cartoon art

The local library is the most underutilized resource in every community. Go to the library website and find out what items you need to bring in order to get your library card. Just do it. You can rent magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, Wi-Fi hotspots, and of course, regular books. The Blount County public library even has a seed library, which provides free seeds for gardeners. If you don't even want to leave your home, once you have a library card you can rent movies, books, and audiobooks for free through the apps (LIBBY, HOOPLA, and KANOPY). From the comfort of your own home, you can hit the borrow button once you are set up with your library card and immediately have access to a book or a movie or the entertainment of your choice. This experience cannot be beaten. If you enjoy browsing at the library, this library building is beautiful. The staff does an amazing job picking out decorations for each season and ordering new books that are pertinent to the community's needs. I have been pleasantly surprised by the selection this library has, and recommend it highly. There is a cafe for snacks and coffee. They have live music on Thursday evenings in the summertime. You can book meeting rooms for studying or working.

I saw several computers, a decent sized magazine selection and a pretty large selection of books on CD and DVDs.

We love Cedar Bluff Branch Library! It is the best. Ever since I moved to TN /Knoxville I got a…read morelibrary card and then when I had kids I took them to baby bookworms and story time. They loved shaky eggs and singing and listening to more books. We will come and max out our library cards... so I was glad when I could get library cards for the girls (max physical items you can take at once is 50, max online from Libby is 15 loans and 25 on hold). Now we don't have to worry about limits since we have 3 library cards. The girls love Crafternoon in the summer and the scavenger hunts around the kid's section in the library. We could spend all day here if I didn't have to work. The online selection is really good and allows us to save lots of money on books. We love the library and all our Cedar Bluff librarians!

Libraries seem like a dying place in the world if Nooks, e-readers, iPads, downloadable books, and…read morethe Internet. This library is still vital to the community it serves. Walking around I saw students studying, foreign people reading books or visiting, children reading with parents, those without home computers and smart phones using the free computers. The staff are super friendly. Books are available for a 3 week check out with an additional 3 weeks (2x) for a 9 week total borrow time. Call or go in to have your books renewed. The library offers children's activities, story time, and adult reading time. Books and media can be returned day and night at the outside drop box.

There is also a Starbuck on the second floor along with a Pod Market so if you're here for hours at a time like I am there are always options! There is a tech support station as well which always helps me out because I don't understand my computer sometimes, they're so helpful and never judgmental! When studying with my friends we love to stay on the second floor because we're able to talk more, the higher floor you're one the more quite it gets! Overall, Hodges has really helped me figure out my work ethic and I definitely recommend!

My favorite time to come here is mid-semester, when no one is cramming and Hodges is relatively empty. At night is also the best, even into the witching hours of the evening, when you can see the Knoxville skyline from the 5th or 6th floor in complete silence. I've been visiting here for years and will not forget this place possibly ever, as it has been synonymous with my life in Knoxville during my early 20's. The best spot in K-town, in my honest opinion.

You can climb the 98 steps if you want the full Sylva experience but it is absolutely driveable and there is a proper parking lot right beside the building, which makes your visit a lot easier. Once inside, the space feels bright and open, with the kind of modern layout that still respects the bones of the historic structure. The windows give the place a calm, airy feel, and a few of the seating areas look out over the city of Sylva that makes you want to linger a little longer. There is plenty of room to spread out, racks of books arranged neatly and a mix of quiet corners and open tables depending on what you need. I was only here briefly and did not have a chance to test the wifi, but everything else about the library suggested a well maintained and thoughtfully run library. It is the kind of place that blends history and everyday usefulness without trying too hard, and it fills like a natural fit for the old historic courthouse rather than a forced reuse of the space.
