One unique thing is that Scrays is part of a small network of sharing others products. They carry other items from other small businesses there also. True family Like business! Their retail shop is small but delightful, with a local, welcoming ambiance. They offer not just cheese but Scray merchandise, accessories, and even ice cream. This shop even has a drive thru available in case you need your cheese curds on the go. The fact that you could watch the factory floor from the retail shop was a fun surprise, taking me back to my Mr Rogers show-me-how-the-crayons-are-made days. Service is personable and I could tell that the person working knew most of the regulars. I'm sure all the locals already know about Scray Cheese but if you're from out of town, definitely make a stop. You'll be happy you did.

During trip we got the Krohn brands Mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, regular cheese curds and cheese curds with garlic all fresh made on the premises. All the purchased cheeses were very flavorful and fresh where the mozzarella had a creamy texture with nice milk tones, some of the best I have had and the cheddar had a nice tangy earthy note. High marks for both. The cheese curds, while not my cup of tea, were well received by my Wisconsinite brother-in-law who thought they were quite good as well. Aside from the cheese products this business also carries a large assortment of fresh made ready to cook pizzas, a large assortment of home made dog treats (definitely dog lovers own this business), and other assorted small merchandize. The other thing to mention relative to Covid is that this business practices good safety protocols where everyone is wearing a mask, hand sanitizers are readily available for customer use and most importantly free masks, if needed, are available as you enter the store. Nice!! Overall a nice cheese store to visit if you are in the area as there is nothing better than fresh cheese when you can find it.

Their cheese curds could very well be the best I've had anywhere - every bite squeaks! You know they are fresh when they bring them out of the back and stack them on the tables before chilling. Highly recommend.

My husband and I shared: - Loaded Cheese Curds - French Onion Melt - Hot Honey Chicken Mac And Cheese - Strawberry Basil Lemonade Everything was fantastic. The cheese curds were the best we had while in Wisconsin. The flavor of the French Onion melt was so good. I loved the hot honey addition to the mac and cheese. We bought a ton of their cheese too and it was fantastic. They have so many other great goodies too. If I lived nearby, I would be here all the time. This is a must stop in Door County!

They had a wide range of cheeses and oils out for sampling, and the staff was friendly and walked us through the different varieties. One of them had us try a cheese dip with ghost peppers, which was hands down our favorite, creamy up front with a slow burn that built after. We picked up some cheddar, a tub of that dip, and a few beers for the road. We also grabbed food from the in-store café: a grilled French onion sandwich, tomato basil soup, and cheese curds. The sandwich and soup were the standouts. The curds were fresh and squeaky. We finished with their ice cream, which held up to everything else we'd eaten. The prices were low enough that the whole stop felt like a steal. A must-visit when you're in Sturgeon Bay.
