Looking in from the outside, you might get the impression that you're about to enter a jungle...it's filled to the brim with floral goodness! I had a quick chat with the lovely lady who was managing the shop that day and I told her about what I was looking for: a sturdy plant for an office - one that doesn't die of if you fail to pay it special attention on regular intervals. She pointed to a Money Tree, but one that is a slightly different species to the usual one - it's a bit reddish on the tips. I liked it right away - especially her comment about if the plant is growing, the business is growing ;-) Said plant - the shop owner and I named it Charly - is now living happily in our office...and it only takes one pint-ful of water to keep it happy!

Truly disappointed in both the service and flowers from this florist…read more As I don't live anywhere close to London, I had to randomly choose a florist to send my best friend some flowers for her birthday and hope that I chose well. I ordered the New York bouquet and what she received was not what I had ordered. Now I completely understand that due to seasonality and availability of certain flowers, an arrangement will not always look exactly as pictured online. However, what my friend received was nowhere even close to what I thought I was paying for. I expressed my disappointment to the shop and have yet to receive a response. I would not recommend ordering flowers through this establishment.

But here they are: Hiden Flower Stand (literally, a pop up trolley of flowers!) permanently parked at the corner of Baker Street and Bickenhall Street right near Baker Street Station. The convenience of this particular stand (between my office and my tube station) have caused me to stop by to pick up flowers on many occasions. Visiting a new baby after work? Done. Flowers for our childminder's birthday on the way home from work? Done. An arrangement for a colleague's birthday/work anniversary/promotion, etc -- easy peasy. This little stand keeps me in good social graces without too much hassle or planning. The pre-made arrangements are beautiful, especially if you are in a rush. If I have a bit more time they will happily take a budget and create something special for you. It's not super cheap -- but for £20 you get a really gorgeous ensemble that will wow whomever is the beneficiary. They finish it off with some elegant/rustic touches, and you'll be all set. Surprise! They actually also take credit cards. Every time I've stopped by, the staff has been really nice and very helpful...not to mention talented in terms of floral arrangements. This is one of my favorite reasons to work on/near Baker Street, seriously!

A family run stall; two brothers and their father, which makes it all that more special and me personally, I have no objections giving my custom to a hard working family and supporting local trade.

There isn't a lot of selection in that area, but I had seen Gingerlily and decided to check it out. I am so glad that I went into the little flower shop. The shop was decorated for Christmas and smelled of fresh flowers, I love that scent. I also found an ornament, a beautiful snow flake, which was a bonus. After looking around I found a bouquet of purple flowers and couldn't resist. I love fresh cut flowers and the owner's arrangements are brilliant, plus she's very friendly and we chatted for a bit while she rang up my purchases. The shop also sells cards, not a very large selection but a large enough selection where you can find a card to go with the flowers you just purchased. I saw several other floral arrangements I liked but decided I couldn't leave the store with everything and happily left with my flowers and snowflake.

Particularly if I am going somewhere for supper or something. For some reason their flowers seem to last for tons longer than any other florist I buy from, the owner says it is because she goes to the flower market most mornings so the stock is very fresh. I think they always have a really lovely range and she will make you bouquets up to any price, starting from about £5. Also she sells a few orchids and pot plants. The place looks gorgeous, and has pretty pretty walls with vintage mirrors up, and there are a few really lovely touches like the stamp on the brown paper wrapping they use on the flowers. Often there is a little cat in the shop too. I don't think he lives there, but he adds to the ambience! I highly recommend Gingerlily Flowers to anyone.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to get a lot because most florists are so pricey in London, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much we got for our money here! Myself and my friend wanted similar flowers, but both walked away with two completely different looking bouquets - which was great. I've had them for over a week now, and they're still going strong. I wish I lived closer to BW market - I'd be stopping by here every weekend!
