Heading into a holiday weekend he and his crew had completed the front on Thursday so I paid him that day so he could deposit the check and pay his crew before the long weekend. He came back the next morning, dropped one tree and left without a word (and I was home, we had discussed the last 2 trees when he and his crew arrived). Numerous calls and text messages over the next several weeks just resulted in some being answered, lot of excuses and missed dates to come back and drop the last tree. The tree is still standing months later. Tom did not do the job we agreed to and I paid him to do. Again, get it in writing and don't pay until you are satisfied!

Beware! A couple of…read moreweeks ago, my mother woke to the sound of chain saws. Her neighbor, the men said, had paid Larry Gilliland to trim a tree near their property line. The problem was that the workers kept dropping large limbs onto healthy well-established yews that my mother had planted at the edge of her yard. When she asked them to stop, they yelled at her, asked if she was blind, and refused to stop causing damage. She is 78 years old, but she is not blind and she has carefully cultivated each plant in her yard. Finally, after it was clear that these workers had no intention of working with her to protect her landscaping, she called the police. When the police arrived, the workers stopped what they were doing, though my mother assures me that the trimming job was not complete. Think twice before hiring anyone to trim trees who would belittle and intimidate a 78 year old woman in her own garden.
