They were also nice enough to give us a tour of the inside of the life center. I think this center is so awesome in the fact that they support the local community who experience hardships from divorce, health issues, job loss, the pandemic, etc. They use a holistic approach over a one year period to provide assist and help you with a plan. They offer food programs, bill assistance and clothing. They do have a drive thru food pantry and financial assistant for rent and utility bills for permanent residents of Coweta and Fayette counties. They help families save around $9k a year which is amazing. They have the most organized clothing area and food pantry, you can also volunteer in the food pantry. This center also provides cooking classes and they teach you different recipes that you can use for the fruit and vegetables they provide. They do have other fruits that you can pick and they also have a garden. This was a great experience and I was more than happy to volunteer for this community.

I learned about the procedures our firefighters utilize, and particpated in many drills that the cadets learn as part of their training towards becoming firefighters. Bottom line: I recommend this training for all citizens. Academy Mission statement: In keeping consistent with AFRD mission statement, the Atlanta Fire Training Academy is dedicated to progressive training that will allow all members of the department to maintain local, state, and national certifications, as well as meeting the challenge of municipal fire, rescue, and EMS delivery. To recruit, train, evaluate and reinforce the knowledge, skills, and abilities of initial and incumbent firefighters to deal with anticipated emergency conditions. The curriculum will provide the necessary skills to command and control emergency operations involving fire, rescue, and hazardous material incidents. Provide the development of newly promoted officers in managerial and leadership skills while conducting ongoing training for existing officers. The development of skills in fire department support functions which include public fire education, fire prevention, and fire investigation.
