A few things...we called them first and was given an estimate of around 3-350 because ours returns were so simple. Then, we came in, sat down and went through everything we had brought. Basically, we could not do long form because we did not have any real income from jobs to get those deductions. Is it fair? So, we also were told by friends to get a coupon online for an additional discount in fees. We found one for $50 off and we're excited to be able to use it when we were ready to pay our bill. Well, when we came in to pick up our taxes and get them sent in, our tax preparer told us our bill was $505. Yes, for a simple 1040 was $505. I do realize everything has gone up, but we were quoted a different cost. So, let's just say, we came out in a negative number in returns. No, we didn't pay anything, but... And in the meantime, having a conversation with our tax preparer, we tell him we have a $50 off coupon towards our service. Here's the funny (Not!) he informed us that we needed to present the coupon before he started...that was not conveyed to us, when we first met. Now, he decides he's going to honor it, but only gives us $25 off, not the $50 as on my coupon on my phone with an official confirmation number. We were not happy! So, in the end we take our return up to the receptionist to pay. Take care of it and leave. Heres the real ball burner!!! We put it on our credit card and our company offers rebates of businesses we select. H & R Block, which was bought by Block Advisors offered a 10% cash back...wait for it...false! In the fine print it only gives a max of $18. Yes! $18! I'm pissed and they certainly will hear from us! Do not use Block Advisors or H&R Block. They are deceitful!
