If I could rate Blitz Pest Control and Dexter below zero, I would. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, my experience would be a -13.
On May 12, 2026, I hired Blitz Pest Control to remove squirrels from my elderly mother's attic and walls in Saginaw, Michigan. During the initial conversation, Dexter sounded knowledgeable and explained that he would trap the squirrels, return every other day, and seal the entry point once the issue was resolved. He also stated that cleaning and sanitizing the area was unnecessary for squirrels, unlike raccoons. The cost was $149.00.
Unfortunately, the service quickly became frustrating, unprofessional, and poorly managed. After the first squirrel was captured, Dexter promised to return later the same day because we informed him that additional squirrels were still present. He never returned and later admitted he forgot because he was occupied with a personal fence project.
The process itself was highly inefficient. Dexter used only one small cage capable of trapping a single squirrel at a time, creating long delays between captures and allowing squirrels the opportunity to re-enter the home before the opening was sealed. Communication became increasingly unreliable, with missed arrival times, unanswered calls, and inconsistent explanations regarding pricing. An additional $45 charge for each squirrel was never clearly disclosed up front and only appeared as handwritten on the receipt. He also insisted on cash payments and repeatedly failed to provide receipts until we demanded proper documentation before making further payments.
When concerns were raised about the delays, unclear pricing, and an ineffective process, Dexter became rude, loud, and dismissive, repeatedly talking over me instead of addressing the issues professionally. He frequently referenced his "20 years in business" while refusing to acknowledge the poor customer experience.
The most egregious issue occurred when the entry point was sealed while visible feces remained in the area. Dexter also attempted to charge an additional $75.00 fee to seal the opening, even though that service was already included in the original agreement. A second company hired to correct Blitz Pest Control's failure confirmed that the area should have been properly cleaned and sanitized and advised that leaving the feces sealed inside would eventually have caused severe odor problems in the home.
Overall, this experience reflected poor communication, ineffective practices, a lack of transparency, inadequate sanitation procedures, and extremely poor customer service. What should have been a straightforward squirrel removal service became an unnecessarily stressful and frustrating experience for my family. Based on this experience, I WOULD NOT hire Blitz Pest Control or Dexter again and WOULD NOT recommend their services to others seeking reliable, honest, and professional pest control assistance. read more
