Book in advance if you know when you need it for say a special event. My positive experience here put me on blow outs for good. I told her specifically that I don't want any sort of spray because of the chemicals that could pose a risk to the unborn baby, especially during the first trimester. All I wanted was a simple wash and dry, and she didn't couldn't even get it right. I looked up the ingredients and what she used contained chemicals that could be harmful to fertility and the fetus. When I told her "no", she said, "oh, sorry" with a smiling face. Unbelievable. She did it on purpose. I don't recommend this place at all.

The stylist didn't know how to style shag bangs, and when she pulled out a round brush to curl them under, I had to stop her. She took massive chunks of my hair so that the overall look wasn't smooth at all. I left without saying anything and I tipped because she did do the work - but 3 hours later my hair is a mess. The dark interiors, green pops of colour and sexy lighted hallway is quite the opposite of the white, bright interior of the downtown location. Plus, they have so much free parking close by which is ideal for someone who drives like me. Both my stylists Michael (colours) and John (cuts) have moved to this location, which is great so now I don't have to switch stylists (not that I would even dare) or go to two different locations. Both Michael and John are hair Gods who have taken my long, long, long, dark, hair to the blonde, short-medium length bob it is today, and I am forever grateful. They are fantastic at what they do and have an eye for what hairstyle looks best. I fully trust them to do whatever they want with my hair and have full confidence it would come out gorgeous. I could actually confidently say that about all the stylists at Brush. I've seen stylists train here starting from an apprenticeship to earning their own chair. And when you're training under Michael and Calvyn (the founders), you're learning under some of the best! I'm sure any of the stylists at Brush can bring your hair dreams to reality! Airi was super sweet where she listened to my concerns and preferences, then gave me exactly what I wanted and better. She was patient as I asked her to teach me how to blowdry and style my bangs. She checks with me periodically and updates me on her thought process with the cut. At the salon, they help each other out. It was my first time with two people blowing drying my hair. Whoever is free will sweep the floor to keep a clean environment. They have lockers where they store their customers'belongings and provide a key to ensure the safety of their items. Also, very reasonable pricing for shampoo, haircut, and blowdry. I would definitely love to come back for my next haircut with Airi.

I went and got a cold perm, this is my first perm, and after the perm I wasn't given specific instructions on the aftercare of the perm. The only instructions that I got was how to style it by wetting my hair because the curls will only show up in a cold perm if the hair is wet. I wasn't aware nor was I told that I'm not supposed to wet my hair 48-72 hours after my perm. I washed my hair the next day getting it done and now half of the curls are gone. I wish my stylist would have given me more insight on taking care of my perm so I could've avoided this from happening. Again the only problem I had was the lack of communication with perm maintenance, she still did an amazing job with the service and cutting my hair.

Within 4 weeks the colour faded unevenly and turned brassy, and the roots did not blend. The layers removed too much density and made my hair feel thin and wispy. Nowhere near to the reference photo style. I declined a $90 gloss and feel the colour service relied on that to correct poor formulation. Permanent dye is also being repeatedly pulled through hair that's already been coloured giving it a dry, patchy look. On another visit, I asked for soft fringe bangs using a clear reference photo, but they were cut wet and left choppy and uneven! This is like basic hair technique 101!
