So glad I found JPK Golf Instruction. I am self-taught,…read more have about a 25 handicap, and for the last 20 years I usually only play a few rounds a year - this year I wanted to change that. I figured I should get fitted for clubs and then try a golf lesson. I found JPK golf instruction here on yelp, read the great reviews and decided to book a half hour lesson. I am so thankful I decided to do this. John was friendly, took the time to ask me about my goals, about my game, any injuries, my best club vs. worst club and even spent the time to review the data from a Ping club fitting session that I had just gone through earlier in the day. He then had me do some warm-up swings and took some video which we reviewed together as he pointed out what I was doing well and what needed fixing. He gave me three things to change/work on and before the half hour was done I was hitting the ball better than I ever have. I could not believe it. It felt so good to actually hit the ball down the middle of the fairway! hah hah! After I left I was hoping that what he thad taught me would stick - and apparently it has. I just got back from the range this morning and I have never had so much fun hitting balls. Just this one lesson has changed the whole game for me. I'm looking forward to doing more. Thank you John Kostis!

Overall 3-star experience. $90 greens fees for a 7am tee time in the middle of summer in AZ and the…read moreconditions were pretty mid. Definitely not worth the price tag. Course designed was fun but too much of the greens-side rough was muddy or patchy. The greens were also not great and seemed like nobody was fixing pitch marks. Service was okay. Everyone was nice but didn't really interact with the staff all that much. They did offer cold towels mid round to help combat the heat, so that was nice. Overall 3 stars - decent experience but I'm not coming back unless it's for a better value (cheaper rate). Have paid far less for much better conditions.

Thoughts from a 22-handicap golfer:…read more This course was nothing short of breathtaking. We played during twilight, with the sun setting over freshly cut fairways, where each hole felt like stepping into a new painting. After finishing nine, my friends and I grabbed a drink and shared a pizza at the bistro, enjoying a scenic view of south Scottsdale. It was a genuinely memorable experience, and I'd gladly come back to play again.

When we started he cautioned me that…read moreas we reworked my swing and my game I would be frustrated for a while until it all came together. He was right, frustrated was an understatement... But then the pieces started to fall in place. Distance, control, game strategy, consistency all started to improve. Gradually at first and then significantly now. Typically a high 90s low 100s in the past, I'm now consistently low 90s upper 80s. My handicap has dropped 5 strokes. I've added 20 yards plus to all my irons. Better control and distance off the tee. I'm really enjoying the game. Only criticism would be that the video technology isn't quite what you see on line and no forward projection of shot performance. Time to renew my lesson package, and I'll be sure to sign up with DK and GolfTec again.

From the owner: Our philosophy in golf schools and in golf instruction is that we don't teach a strict method…read more However, we do have a system and a strict method of how we teach. Jim McLean's system is unique in that he has a lot of room for individual differences and allows all of his teachers to use all their creativity. We don't believe, as some other schools and instructors do, that everybody is going to fit into the same golf swing. Everybody is built differently, so there are a lot of different ways to make a golf swing and play golf and do it well. But we keep in mind basic fundamentals: body motion and club action. In our teaching method, you can do it your own way as long as you stay within the parameters or limits where we find good players who have been able to do it very well. Jim McLean calls those parameters the "corridors of success." This is a huge part of our teaching success. Once outside those corridors, virtually nobody in the history of the game has succeeded.

We initially thought the golf course and Inn were affiliated, but learned they are separate. The grille is very convenient from the Inn--just a 2-3 minute drive up the hillside--and the morning views are phenomenal. The food was good as well. Unfortunately, the service seemed understaffed for the number of people they were accommodating. There was only one server/bartender handling the bar, indoor seating and outside patio. She was very sweet, apologized often and was clearly doing her best, so we had a lot of patience for her. Still, there were long waits for water, placing our order and eventually receiving our food. We visited over Memorial Day weekend and were on vacation time, so we weren't in a huge rush. However, if we had been waiting to golf or had just stopped in for a quick breakfast, the delays probably would have been more frustrating. This place has a lot of potential. The food was good and the view is definitely the highlight. With another staff member helping with orders, drinks or food delivery during busy periods, I think the overall experience could be much better.

It is rare in life to experience this level of service and expertise. Baylor came out to my car to…read moreget my clubs while I was putting on my shoes. That doesn't even happen at the high end public golf courses. Let alone by a manager! Once inside James asked me to go through my bag. Being a weekend workshop tinkerer on my clubs for over 30 years, James listened to my stories and gained perspective on my game all while I was warming up. He then brought me over an iron to begin comparison. After hitting multiple heads and shafts he called me over to show me the numbers. I'm a feel guy, but my wife the engineer was impressed with the data. He then blew me away by telling me my tendencies on the course. He was dead on. Pointed to the numbers that told him and then started making changes. All the while checking in on my "feel" parameters. I liked the look of one clubhead but the feel of the other shaft. When James found out I played often at his college course we shared some course strategies, all along he was gathering info for the fairway woods and then on to the driver. The trackman technology is amazing, but like any good tool, you need a skilled technician to make it work and James made it sing. When my drives were inexplicably fading, he switched screens to show another aspect I had never considered. A few adjustments and we had maximized results. He didn't push for a sale, just provided information. He asked about my putter and I hesitated, as it works well for me. James didn't even go there. The iron shafts we choose were the same ones in a prior set, just with WAY better heads. He also adjusted weight to correct ball flight. James insight into my wedges after knowing my swing and looking at current set up was again RIGHT ON! It's like we had played several rounds together and he knew my tendencies. We set down, he asked me what was on my mind. I said to do his best. My wife, the engineer was impressed with the technology, I was impressed with the level of service and overall experience. Everything but the putter is on the way. The Director of Product Design predicted it should cut my handicap by 4 strokes. I can't wait!!!
