I bought a clock made from excess graphite and process tubes from the Hanford reactors (so it was never used in the actual reactor, with no chance of radioactivity), supplied by the B Reactor Museum Association. The gift shop proceeds are used to fund interpretative projects at the reactor, make displays, and support many other reactor related projects. The owner is also a former Health Physicist at the Hanford Vitrification Project. The rest of the shop has a dizzying array of books, scifi toys, memorabilia, and posters. There's even a cordoned off rare book room which contains books from the 1600's and first editions of books. This shop is a labor of love and much appreciated. They can be open even beyond their posted hours, so if you're in the area, it's worth stopping by to check it out!

Solid bookstore, although the prices are a bit higher than you'd like and they don't offer any used…read morebooks, which is annoying. Also the store was uncomfortably warm which made it difficult to browse for as long as I'd want to. Bathroom situation: it was reasonably clean, although there was a slight aroma of rotting death. Maybe spray some air freshener around, or improve the ventilation. Still, a throughly acceptable place to drop the kids off at the pool.

I highly suggest to have a membership as it gives you discount and the Starbucks in this store is a good place to sip your coffee and read books but doesn't not have enough chairs.

COME ON IN, GET YOUR POSTCARDS!!…read morewas looking for picture postcards of the area because this area is overflowing with card-worthy scenes and scenery and this is where I found 'em. some are about the tri-cities and local goings on, some are period pieces, some are just kinda fun or funny. not really sure why postcards are so hard to find around here (or anywhere?) on the front is a better snap than most people will ever take and on the reverse there's usually an interesting bit of about the image on front... and after picking out postcards there's regular cards, playing cards, incenses, desk signs, finger puppets, refrigerator magnets, posters, games, all manner of t-shirts and puzzles, and candies and nostalgic references to the dawn of the nuclear age to amuse people of all ages who get that an entire world existed before they were told otherwise.

Although it doesn't excuse the reaction from employee that I recently experienced; As a believer we are called into account to empathize with each other and forgive each other. The owner has a huge heart for service and this community. None of us are perfect and we need eachother. There are always 2 sides to the story as well, so I am sure from her perspective she felt like she was doing the right thing in the moment. Long story short, Went in to get a bible engraved for a young man who I am mentoring that I planned to give the engraved bible to this young man to encourage him in a very tough time in his life, none of the rest of the experience matters after talking with owner, thank you for your time on the phone.
