My little one was Blends' youngest client today (at 4 months!). He was born with A LOT of hair and it was getting unruly, especially around the ears. Though I was excited to learn and cut boy hair eventually, I didn't want to mess up on his first one since he'd be seeing extended relatives for the first time for Thanksgiving. Called around and found this place that makes you forget you're in Merced inside. Very cool atmosphere. Vince was our barber and he was super nice and gentle with him. He took his time to explain about the anatomy of my son's hair and the different tools he was using on him, knowing that I wanted to learn to cut in the long run. At the end, he said no charge! What a nice guy...but of course I still insisted to tip. Welcoming place for men (and babies!) to hang, chat, and get cuts! They take their time with you and have passion for what they do. They're artists! read more

Just want to be able to plan his week ahead bc he works Great cuts by David though- plan to be there an hour All love read more

This Shop is seriously not worth the wait. I came in 2 days in a row and was turned away on both because of the overwhelming appointments they had. So if your looking to go here (not recommended) definitely make an appointment. I liked the vibe I got from the place so I decided to book an appointment, that day started of pretty well until it was my turn. I sat in the chair, explained what I wanted done and how, showed pictures and everything. The barber said that he understood and asked follow up questions so I assumed he did. Not even 3 minutes into the haircut I was already worried cause he was more focused on talking with coworkers then the haircut. That being said a few more minutes passed and I began to get dizzy, I've never been to a place where I was spinner so much and in a complete circle; to the point that even he was tripping over himself. I wasn't sure if the spinning was necessary for the haircut or if it was to buy him time to complete a sentence to a coworker. At this point I wanted him to finish and hoped for it to be decent or at least fixable. Boy was I wrong, I asked for half an inch off the top I got an inch & a half off instead. I asked for a design with two lines a combination of the pictures with the long straight line on top and a shorter one underneath; I got one curved line. I honestly don't know how much clearer I could have been to Aaron. I understand it was early but if you can't work early mornings then don't. All in all, the vibe and customer service was good, but the barbers overall performance wasn't even remotely okay. I also had my hopes up cause i'm from Temecula Ca. and joints like this can deliver on both customer service and performance. If your debating on going to get your haircut I recommend steering clear from this place cause they are way overpriced for results... I mean 25 dollars for a bad haircut all because I made an appointment; and that's not to mention the 20 dollars they charge for walk-ins that have to wait hours before being seen. With that said I'm a student at Uc Merced and for the Merced area we can't expect much, but come on. I have yet to find a decent barbershop here, if anyone has any recommendations please let me know! Have a Good Day. read more

Since I've moved to Merced, I've been trying to find a good barber. I called this shop and made an appointment for the next day. I went in 5min before my appt and none of the barbers acknowledged or greeted me. I sat there awkwardly and uncomfortably until 15min past my appt time before I decided to just leave. There was nothing welcoming about this place. Would highly not recommend. read more

Came in for an appointment, waited 25 minutes, barber never showed. Place was at-least clean and the others were nice but I'd rather not waste my lunch break waiting for a cut that won't happen. read more

This place is WAYYY over priced for what they actually do. I have lived at some of the most expensive places in the world (central London/uk and Bay Area for example) and I never paid for a hair cut for the amount that this place charges. And they had top professionals. The folks/owners should come down to earth and actually start charging for fair prices otherwise I don't see this place lasting for very long considering they have so many competitors who does the same job if not better for much less. read more

I mean it's a barbershop with typical barbershop things going on. Each barber has their own prices. Appointments are recommended. Cut quality varies by the barber, obviously. Some are great, some are okay. read more

I took my brother to get a haircut for the Christmas season and the barber did a fantastic time! I was a bit nervous since he's only 4 years old but he was very accommodating to him! The haircut was very nice and the price was moderate. Thank you! read more

New to the area and really needed a haircut badly. Called and immediately got set up with an appointment with Vince. He was really professional and knew what he was doing. Was able to line me up perfectly though my hairline isn't naturally straight anymore. But definitely gave me a really good taper that most barbers can't achieve. Definitely if your in Merced, go ask for an appointment here with Vince. I'm sure all the other barbers are great too. Highly recommend. read more

I walked in with my 21-month-old toddler son and Jesse kindly took him and gave my son an excellent haircut. My son was anxious and crying the whole time, but Jesse was patient and kind and still managed to give my son a nice, blended fade and clean, straight edges. My husband and I were thrilled how well our son's hairstyle turned out. Even after a few weeks, his hair still looks great. It's growing in well. We will definitely bring our son back to Jesse. Thank you! read more

I was very happy with my haircut at Blends. I strongly recommend booking with Chris. His work was on point. He was communicative, experienced, patient, and very professional. Overall, Chris is an excellent barber ---- it was by far the best cut I've had in Merced. And besides the cut itself, the appointment was easy to schedule and we started precisely on time. That is attentive and exceptional customer service. In general, Blends was clean, spacious, and welcoming. The price of the haircut was more than fair and the other stylists were helpful, friendly and professional. If you're looking for a barbershop in Merced, you should check this place out and I recommend asking for Chris. read more

Great barbershop and great atmosphere. The welcoming staff will always make sure you leave happy and looking good.

I called in to make an appointment a week out for a haircut. When I arrived 5 mins early and entered the shop. Not a single barber gestured, welcomed, or asked if I had an appointment or if I was a walk in. They continued to cut their clients hair or watch the tv(Kat Williams stand up comedy was playing). So I sat down and waited for the barber to call me for my appointment. I sat there waiting for 15 minutes after the appointment start time, so I was in the shop for basically 15-20mins and the barbers or owner didn't even speak to me. To top it off, I overheard the two barbers on the right side closest to the entrance talking about me asking each other "who's that?" "Is he waiting on someone" while the other responds "idk, he is been there for a while", didn't even bother to ask me directly when I'm like 5 ft away and continue to go about their day. Not sure about the quality of their work bc i didn't even get the haircut. If you are looking for a barbershop that feels welcoming or has that "vibe" feeling don't come here. They seem clueless on how to properly implement friendly service or just don't care. read more

Awesome group of guys provide a great service at a reasonable price. Me and my son visit this place about every month and its always a very pleasant experience. Cesar is a great guy and spends his time, rather than rushing to get the job done. My son wont let anybody cut his hair besides Cesar! Big screen TVs with games, beverages for customers! What else can you ask for in a barber shop. You wont be disappointed! Thank you cesar read more

If anybody is looking for a clean, efficient, chill barbershop this is the place to go! After taking my son to different barbers and leaving with your typical, quick, get it done child's haircut I got multiple recommendations from friends to try Blends. I've brought him here for his last couple of haircuts and left more than satisfied. Alex is super professional and extremely patient with this wiggly little worm. Download the Booksy app to insure you get in. Alex is wonderful but the rest of the guys there look pretty legit as well. Highly recommended! ‍ read more

Not Very Black Friendly... went in for a Walk-in & was never assisted they took care of everyone but me. Clearly the Barbers are not Trained on cutting African-American hair. Either that or they just don't like too. Very Disappointed. Won't be returning. Won't Recommend. But they'll probably be happy with that anyway... smh read more

Awesome custom service and quick and fast. Izzy, took me in without an appointment and did a wonderful job taking care of me.

Can't cut hair at all. Just started hacking away at the back which is not even close to what the photo looks like. Never going back and never going to recomend this place to anyone ever. My Birthday is now ruined once again. I hope you guys go out of business because what was done to my hair was horrible and you shouldn't call your self a barber. No every prerson want a fade espically when there is none in the photo I showed in the first place. read more

This barbershop is really cool and gives me a good vibe. They do a really good job on fades and tapers and it's my go to barbershop. I recommend an appointment because it gets really crazy and walk ins takes forever. I once waited for 2 hrs but lesson learned. The haircut I got made it up and looked nice in the end. All the barbers here know what they are doing so I highly recommend coming here. read more

Blends are such great barbers and will never let you down even with a clean cut fade. They have great customer service and some gentlemen in there go the extra mile and work overtime. If i could give this barber shop 0 stars i would! RUDE staff... un attentive to new clients. Their fades weren't faded correctly you could see the line ( lazy takes them about 1.5 hours for just 1 client) because they cut hair for 2 min go on their phone for 10 ... were all watching a game and having their own personal convos... never again you will regret coming here read more

I called to schedule an appointment about 2 weeks in advance. I asked for someone highly experienced, and they said not a problem. They never told me who my appointment was with, but I didn't think anything of it. When I arrived, they asked if I had an appointment. I stated I did. The guy in the first chair, asked with who? I said I didn't know. He didn't look in any appointment book or anything. He basically threw me in the back with whoever was a viable. I asked for a very simple cut, line up and taper. It was the quickest cut, I've ever had. I was only In the chair 10 minutes max. The guy had no idea what he was doing. My line was uneven, taper not even faded properly, and I'm pretty sure he didn't even cut the back of my head. It looked horrible, but I was just happy to have a cut, even if it was a horrible one. I didn't care to complain at the time. I kind of already knew I was going to get a bad cut. That's been my experience thus far in Merced, high prices and very bad service. read more
