Although I live in Frankfurt, this very pleasant shop was brought to my attention through an article in an American home architecture magazine, Dwell.com.
Natalie, the charming shop owner, claims that her concept of a boutique specialized in high-quality woolen blankets from all over the world is unique in Germany. I can't confirm that claim, but I can say it is a really nice shop.
Natalie's blankets are extremely colorful and also varied in their materials. I myself just needed a baby blanket for a newborn, but used the opportunity to let her explain to me the various pros and cons of merino, cashmere, sheep's wool, mohair and whatnot.
She also told me she could order bespoke sizes and colors, e.g. for a beadspread. I plan to keep this in mind for end-of-year holiday shopping...
By the way, there is a quirky Brazilian cafe next door and Natalie was kind enough to offer me a hot chocolate or a coffee. I let her treat me to a "café pingado" which was delicious, similar to a Portuguese "cafe galao". So, my visit to Blanket Store ended on a refreshing note. read more
