I have been a patient of Dr Philip A Pine DDS since I was a child. He has been my go to dentists…read morefor pretty much my whole life. As a child My mother never had a problem and neither did I. Through-out the years they have made many upgrades to their office and with those upgrades it appears their prices have increased as well - maybe to pay for the fancy new digs - but the price of everything has gone up so I cant really be upset about that. Back in early 2016 when i found out i was pregnant with my first child following the advice of my obgyn like any nervous first time mother would do I decided to get any existing dental issues taken care of before i got too far along in my pregnancy. So I made an appointment in March to have a cracked molar taken care of. The dentist (not dr Pine himself but one of the associates) told me he could most definitely save the tooth if I opted for a root canal and a crown as opposed to my initial decision to have a simple extractions performed. I was reluctant because of the costs of a root canal and a crown but the Dentist told me everything would be fine and it was better to save the tooth than to pull it. Well apparently the office didnt accept my husbands insurance and their prices didnt not match up with the prices that my insurance company had listed for the procedure and we had to pay almost 600$ out of pocket which is pretty steep especially considering this didnt include the cost of the crown. which was going to be another $700+. I had the root canal done and it went well. the problem started upon my second visit to have the casting for the crown done. The associate who does this took one look at the tooth and asked me why i didnt have it extracted and told me there was not enough of the tooth left to hold a crown and that the root canal was essentially pointless and an unnecessary procedure. Upon receiving this information I agreed to schedule an appointment to have the tooth extracted. I also asked for a refund for the root canal. I was told that they could not refund me for the root canal because they already paid the doctor that performed the procedure but they would issue a credit to my patient file and I could use it for any future procedures i needed to have done and for the extraction. I had to inform them that under my insurance all extractions have a $0 co-pay so that wasnt going to help me and i would prefer an actual refund. I was told they would look into this and get back to me and i scheduled the extractions before i left the office. on the day before the extraction was scheduled i called to confirm my appointment and was told it would need to be rescheduled for another time because they did not have anyone on staff to perform the extraction anymore. this continued until may of 2016 at which point i requested i be refunded in full for the amount i paid out of pocket for the root canal and i requested that my xrays and patient files be sent to another dental practice. My appointment with the new dentist had to be rescheduled as well because Dr. Pine and associates neglected to send my files to my new dental office. I even physically went into the office to pick up my files but i was told they could not be released to me and she would fax them over immediately. This never happened. My new dentist called and told them they would be willing to accept a usb thumb stick with copies of just the xrays because they didnt want to expose me to unnecessary x rays while I was 4 months pregnant. and yet again dr pine and associates refused to comply with our requests. It is my understanding that the patient files are mine and i request to have them sent to any dental practice i choose but they refused to release any of my records. They Also refused to issue a refund for the out of pocket expenses related to the unnecessary root canal I was deceived into having done. Because I know for a fact that this refund has never been issued and I did not receive any services from Dr Pine and Associates since this fiasco I am hoping my patient file still has a credit for the out of pocket costs of the root canal for this is reason and because I have been using this dental practice since I was a child im willing to give them another chance and I will be scheduling another appointment this week with Dr Pine and Associates for some dental work i desperately need to have done I am currently awaiting a response for a quote on some new dental procedures that i need to have taken care of, if everything works out well and they honor the credit that i should have in my patient file as well as honor the prices my insurance company has quoted... I will update this review but until that happens i will be leaving a 3 star rating.

I met with Dr Pine about 6 weeks ago, he was actually very nice and understood my situation (Ive…read morehad have AIDS for 15 years and both the virus and meds destroy your teeth) anyways half of my teeth have already been removed. So with my insurance and finances im ready to get my new Hollywood teeth, dentures is what it has to be but at this point its my dream. My problem isnt with Dr Pine or his office staff. In fact if you need to see someone for just general dentistry he may be your man. The doctor I want to warn everyone about is Dr Pines in house oral surgeon Dr Joaquin Zaggara. That morning I was so excited to meet him and move forward to the next step. He looked at my x-rays and what Dr Pine had signed off on and most importantly my insurance approved the entire procedure. He looked at me and said I had 2 teeth that were in good condition. I said I was aware of that but its just a matter of time that they'll be bad too, but at this point with my disease and finances dentures were my only option and Ive basically have wore bottom dentures for the past 7 years. Yelling at me on how un-ethical it would be to pull my healthy teeth I just layed there in shock. I wasnt asking to harvest my kidneys or have an abortion. When a non insured patient walks into a dentist and needs a root canal and crown and the dentist looks the patient in the eyes and says its going to be $5000.00 yes thats very ethical!!!!! Back to Doctor Zagarra and his ethics, clearly he didnt want to pull my teeth because he wanted to charge me $12,000 to rebuild them but told me that they wouldnt match my other teeth. Why would I do that I ask, he replies rudley "so you have teeth" Then he gave me a tongue lashing about me having AIDS (way out of line) this man almost got punched right in the mouth. He yelled at me about how I could get an infection. I explained to him that my infectious disease doctor is all for this and feels me getting rid of all my decaying teeth would make me healthier. I also explained that for 10 days I would be on pre anti-biotics both oral and injectable and of course after the procedure. Nothing mattered, he said it was un-ethical and that he wouldnt do it. And still ranted about me having AIDS, I mean to the point that it was on the verge of bashing. So to all my brothers and sisters that may be in a similiar situation DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE.... They lure you in by telling you they will do the procedure and then try to rip you off with their ethical standards, clearly Dr Joaquin Zaggarra is homophobic and has no shame about it and he also has a sever problem with HIV/AIDS patients. I will do everything in my power from contacting the ADA and to every Gay organization to make this man does not practice oral surgery again. What a shame and I hope this review helps detour others from going to this office or I should say to Dr Joaquin Zagarra. I have never wrote a review online and im certainy even feeling guilty about possibly harming someones buisness. But people this was so bad and just way out of line I feel I must warn others. This man should be ashamed of himself.

I was sure this was just going to be another quick exam and a "we'll schedule you later" kind of visit. But the moment Dr. Miller and his team came in, the energy shifted. Smiles, calm voices, and a sense that I wasn't just another patient in a chair--I was a person they genuinely cared about. They made me feel at ease, even while I was silently panicking about what might happen next. Then Dr. Miller surprised me. "Let's take care of this today." My heart dropped. I don't do well with pain. I really don't do well with needles. For a second, I almost backed out so I could "mentally prepare." But something about the way he and his staff spoke to me--steady, confident, kind--made me trust them. So I stayed. And that's when I knew I was in good hands. The numbing process? I didn't even feel the needle. Not a pinch. Not a sting. Just calm. My wisdom tooth had grown in sideways, and I braced myself for the worst--but the extraction came and went without a single moment of pain. I walked out lighter, relieved, and honestly grateful. Dr. Miller and his team didn't just fix my tooth--they took away my fear. Takeaway: If you're scared, in pain, or putting off oral surgery because of nerves, this is the place that will make you feel safe. Dr. Ross Miller doesn't just treat patients--he earns friends. And I'll recommend him every chance I get.
