Other places I checked out either had monthly rates only, or you had to bring your own cymbals. Coming from out of town, that wouldn't work for me. The space was roomy with everything you needed to hook up your laptop or any instrument you play. I was able to get in for an hourly rate which was super affordable. I went in late from 11pm - 2am and what impressed me most is that Patrick acknowledged that I was a woman out late alone and he let me know he was one phone call away if I needed him and ensured the door was locked for my safety. If I ever make it back to Austin, I will definitely stop here to practice!

It's nice to have a rehearsal space north of Austin. This one however is a pit. the photos online are misleading. the spaces are tiny, filthy and the smell was unbearable. The bigger problem was a lack of sound dampening. a rock band was rehearsing in the space next to us and we could barely hear ourselves think. For the record, I'm not a Prima Donna. I don't expect much from a rehearsal space. However, showing large, clean rooms on the website while delivering cramped, carpet stained stink holes is misleading. clearly the owners have zero pride and believe that musicians don't care. Make the trip down south to Space. the extra 20 miles is nothing. This is not a professional rehearsal space. Perhaps it's fine for garage bands, but pro players will be put off by it. As a band leader it reflects poorly on my professionalism.

I was sure that every wrinkle and double chin would be preserved for posterity along with some cheesy smile that made me look like I sold life insurance from ads in the AARP magazine. Cameras scare the CRAP out of me. I have always taken bad pictures and pictures make me feel bad about myself. But -- I needed a damn picture for my website; my friend/webdesigner insisted. So, based on the nice pictures on his website and the good Yelp reviews and recommendations, I appeared with trepidation at his studio - a bit of a nervous wreck - certain of my coming humiliation. Steve calmly assured me that this was going to be ok. He calmly explained what he would be doing. Somehow, magically, he got me to smile. He got so into his craft, I actually relaxed. The results? Dude has voodoo magic camera mojo. I am serious. I really had no idea how many intricate adjustments of position, lighting, camera settings, computers settings one could use as variables in getting a good shot, but whatever space shuttle he was piloting certainly worked to my advantage. Dude knows what he's doing. When he showed me his results, I almost fell over. They were great pictures. I'm an old lady of 47, but I didn't look like an old lady at all. And this was before the touch ups!! I'll be proud to use these. I totally recommend Mr. Steven N! (Even if he won't take my family Christmas photo with my dogs in santa hats.)

They clearly know how to properly record everything (including hidden mics for ceremony, even the musicians!) and - IMO, even more importantly - understand the importance of handling the footage and recording well over the necessary amount in case you want even more video later on. On the day of they were great at staying low-key and still efficient at grabbing people quickly for important shots post-ceremony, etc. Very reasonable pricing, and they're willing to accept full payment after the wedding in case of last-minute budget crunches (they film everything day of but won't send you video until after payment (duh)). 2nd Generation Video was one of the *very* few things that I actually feel like was worth the final price and that's saying a lot when it comes to weddings.
