Which was approximately $1700. Midas appealed the court's decision. Therefore, I was forced to attain an attorney to represent me in the appeal process. I hired a law firm named Armstrong, Betker, and Schaffer, which is located at 511 Renaissance Dr, Unit 110, Saint Joseph, MI 49085. One of their attorneys Mr. French told me that he would charge me $2000, with a cap on it. Because the defendant has nothing to appeal. Nevertheless, the attorney promised me that the judge will have the defendant reimburse me his attorney fees in the amount of $2000. Because Midas filed a frivolous appeal. The only reason I hired the law firm is because I was promised that I would be reimbursed lawyer fees. Which was more than the amount the court ordered the defendant to pay me. Unfortunately, On the day of the hearing the judge told the attorney that he didn't file the correct documents in the correct court. So the hearing was adjourned. Afterwards, the attorney ignored my phone calls and texts. As of today, I still haven't been reimbursed the attorney fee that I paid this law firm. I previously had a meeting with attorney Betker. Approximately three months ago Betker claimed that he was going to talk with his partners and get back with me in regards to reimbursement, but as of today I have not been contacted. I believe that I was scammed by this law firm because of my race. So if you're non white , beware of this business.

I filed a grievance with the Attorney grievance commission and his response was that he never agreed to me being reimbursed. He also said that it wasn't in writing. Which was true, it wasn't in writing because I trusted him. I never imagined that a lawyer would be so desperate to lie to a person just to get hired. He was able to get the ticket turned into a non-moving violation, which as we discussed prior to hiring him, was the outcome we were best hoping for. Mr. Wojtowicz is very professional and responsive. He didn't over promise that he could deliver some that that he could not, but discussed the steps involved and what to expect. I didn't have to email or call him on the court dates as he would email back that evening with the results. It did take an extra court date to get the final resolution. From what I read online, Mr. Wojtowicz was a former Berrien county mediator, which to me signifies that he knows the inner working of the system there and is the reason I chose to hire him along with the other positive reviews!
