Omg this place is heaven for anyone who loves reading. I was visiting and was looking to buy some western romance novels but couldn't find it at the book store in whitefish so they recommended this place to me. I feel in love with it as soon as I opened the door. The smell of books and feel of those old covers. Highly recommended. There are tons and tones of books here. I ended up with 15 romance. Most of it was by Linda leal miller. Must visit if you are near Kalispell. read more

This is my favorite store by far! Stepping in the door of Blacktail Mountain Books alone is like stepping into another world. The smell of old books. The excitement of not knowing what you will find on the next shelf. The immense selection both new and old. The books are categorized by genre, but not much beyond that. I love it! Give yourself plenty of time to browse for next page turner that you will undoubtedly find here. I prefer to go in when I do not have anything specific in mind. There is always something that grabs my attention. The owner is very friendly and a pleasure to be around. Blacktail Mountain Books is worth the visit every time. read more

I love this store. Is it the most organized? No. But it is a book lovers dream of a store. If you have an hour to browse, take the time to do so. The owner is a wonderful, caring book loving individual and is generous to those that also love books. I have spent many an hour in this store, as therapy. we stopped in on a road trip, i was looking for some specific books. if you have lots of time to look for books, this is the place to go. it really is a pretty cool bookstore, i would go here again. first the good: owner is cool and friendly. this place probably has the book you are looking for. just talking to and listening to the characters who come into this shop are worth going to this shop. why only 3 stars? the books are not really in order, alphabetical or otherwise. there are fiction books in non=fiction sections, there are heaps of books just kind of put here and there close to their section, so you may have a hard time finding what you are looking for. also, the store sort of smells like pee, at least in one spot. even with 3 stars, this was a super cool store and i would be happy to spend a day in it looking for books. i would probably find some amazing treasures. definitely go if you love to hunt books and spend time in an eclectic store with odd and very friendly people. do not go if you have OCD. yeah, only 3 stars, but it's really a cool place and i would recommend it. read more
