I found Black Black thanks to Yelpers. And I found Brittney by luck! She is a skillful and attentive and sweetheart of a stylist. I came to her with ragged hair and my bangs were out of control. She cleaned me right up. Made sure to get all those split ends and made my bangs bangin' again. It was so sleek and healthy again that everyone thought I had touched up my color. I had to convince my mom that I didn't color it, just cut. This place hasn't been open very long but it was already quite busy. Lots of guys coming in to see a barber, even walk-ins. I hope with time they can get a little more flavor in there, since it is a bit sparse, but talent wise I think they are 100. Guy or girl, check out this place and you should be pleased (if you aren't one of those indecisive, never satisfied with your hair, crazy people). I've have not seen many stylist in the Sac area, I admit. I would try one out, be disappointed, then drive back to my stylist in Menlo Park. Did this for about 10 years, until I found Justin! I truly do not trust my hair to anyone else. I'm a busy mom and work fill time, so I don't go back as often as I should. The proof is in the pudding, my hair always looks great months after because the original cut was done so well. I've been going back to Justin for about 2 years now. He talked to my boyfriend about different styles that would be possible with his thicker, curler hair and offered several different options for him. Extremely disappointed in my last experience at Black Black. The owner Justin has done my hair for over a year and I have always had a good experience. But the last cut was horrible. He continually berated the intern he had shadowing him and made snide comments to me regarding her - not cool in the least. He made for a very uncomfortable situation. Now for the cut. We have been working towards a specific cut for over 6 months, I have no clue what he was thinking but he cut all my #%*%^#@ hair off. So I spent the thanksgiving holiday explaining what had happened to my head. Extremely satisfied with this place!! Brittany is an amazing hair stylist she did amazing work on me and helped me get all the products I needed at an extremely fair price! I went from brown to teal with box hair dye on my hair which is extremely hard to do! Brittany worked 5 hours straight on my hair and even styled it and took pictures for me. They even gave me a nice cold beverage and offered to run to the liquor store for me if I was hungry. I will never let anyone by Brittany touch my hair ever again. She's done my hair before at their previous salon and it was good, but today, I came for a lighter/ashy/pinkish color and she did awesome! I am so happy with the results of my hair. She was also doing another girl's hair when I came in and it looked so good!! This salon also specializes in men's cuts. Atmosphere is cool, with hip hop playing in the background, to staff/customers sippin' on some cold brew. They have hair products for both men and woman. Black Black, the name is catchy and the inside reminds me of a LA studio. No complaints. I might be a little bias, since my childhood best friend works here. I can be bias if I want. That does not take away from the craftsmanship work these barbers conduct here. The staff is highly knowledgeable and super friendly. Justin, who is a haircutting guru is true to the Japanese heritage. He definitely shows his respect to the culture. My wife came in last week for a consultation and was blown away with the service and advice Justin provided. She's nervous about changing hairstylist but we left confident coming back to her upcoming appointment. David usually cuts my hair and although he is new to the trade, you'd swear he'd been cutting for years. He has no time restraints to a cut. His work is amazing and gets better with every cut. After scouring the internet I finally picked this place to do my balayage and hair cut. Allie is a very talented hair artist. She is experienced and has a flair for color and design. She listens very well and was hesitant to cut my hair too short because I had been trying to grow it. She also read it right that I had come to terms with it after a few more days of struggling with my previous bad cut. She did a great job and I will come back. That says a lot because I feel like the pickiest person on the face of the earth for hair. I love Christina!! We followed her to Black Black from another salon. She has been doing both my and my boyfriend's hair for years now. I have a very long, fine colored hair and he has short, thick, curly hair. We're both pretty picky (my boyfriend especially so) but we're always pleased with the job Christina does. Along with being talented and professional, she is also incredibly sweet and funny. My color appointments usually take a few hours (I have LOTS of hair), but it always flies by because she's such a pleasure to visit with and does such a great job. The salon itself is easy to locate, bright, clean, and comfortable with a laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Everyone is so nice and seems happy to be there. My 12 year old son really needed a haircut and my daughter called me from Black Black. She checked if someone would be available for a haircut and with luck was on my side, we arrived in about 45 minutes. As soon as we walked in the environment was very inviting, clean and upbeat. Everyone was busy working and chatting; seeming to enjoy what they were doing and whom they were working with, both clients and co-workers. A pleasant, friendly gentleman came over right away to check us in and offered us something to drink while we waited plus brought over a couple of chairs since all the seating was taken. The wait was only about 15 minutes however the time flew by and my son was seated in the "hot seat" ... I spoke with "Panama" about what I wanted and then my son explained what he wanted ... both our wants were incorporated and my son absolutely loved his new look ... nothing crazy however very nice clean young man hair style! Panama was absolutely professional, wonderful, friendly and did what we requested not just what he wanted! As we left, my son was already talking about his next appointment.
