Great people, had my car insured with them all my adult life. Great car insurance company to go…read morewith. They are friendly, humorous and they get you what you want in insurance. It appears from the reviews of others on here that some people may feel overly entitled.. like the world owes them something. Obviously you won't get kicked out of there unless there's a damn good reason. I've been doing business with them all my adult life and they are courteous, funny and attentive to my needs. So just take my word for it.

On Wednesday, 28 May, I took my mother to Newcomer Insurance for notary work. Upon arrival to the…read morebuilding, the very first thing that I noticed was that there was no wheelchair or handicapped capable entrances into the building. This concerned me since my mother requires the use of a wheelchair on most days but can get around a little bit by walker. She has 24hr, oxygen requirements along with having suffered a heart attack leading to the shutdown of her glands in her legs which allow for the processing of water in her skin. The result is that her lower legs are 5-10x larger than normal due to water retention, which adds an estimated 20-40 lbs of weight. Mom is in her 60s and every trip to grocery or anywhere else bothers me because of the risk to her heart. So my immediate concern was how mom was going to make the step which was higher than normal, to get onto the deck and into the building which also did not have a door wide enough to accommodate a wheel chair. I have never been one to be concerned about discrimination but this was "Mom" that was in consideration here and in this matter I felt that this public business amongst a very heavily populated "Retiree" community, was unconcerned about doing business with the physically challenged. What made this visit worse was that we were actually there because Dad died 2 weeks prior and we were updating her Will and POA as I am the Executor of the estate. When we entered into the business, we stood at the counter while an older gentleman approached us and asked us how he could help. Mom started to explain what we needed, but with all things "dad" started to get a little upset and emotional when considering the circumstances that we were actually there, so naturally I interrupted and took over with the explanation of what and why we were there, to spare mom a little bit of pain. This guy actually replied with " I don't need this attitude, you can go ahead and leave" and proceeded to kick mom and I out of the building. I hadn't even mentioned my concern about his entrance and usually do not as I pretty much considerate it our problem, but at no time did he ever consider mom's health, abilities or even attempt to be sensitive to her situation, nor did he ask. The major issue overall is the Discrimination to Disabilities violation which is apparently not his concern in a city of retirees, but next a business which provides insurance services is incapable of sensitivity, professionalism and simply lacks the ability to be a gentleman to a crying little old lady. In no way is that guy a representative of business in Dixon, IL. I would think that this guy not only owes mom the sincerest of public apologies, but also should be held in compliance with city policies, related to disabilities, fire & rescue and any new policies which have been recently imposed regarding the River Front project and the image of business in Dixon IL.
