First of all I should say that I liked these guys personally. I can tell they care about their work…read moreand want to do a good job. When it comes down to it, this is pretty much the most important thing when it comes to the trades and I can't fault Amortech here. It's hard to find people who care. The main problem Armortech has is with their communication skills. I had a simple project (a small kitchen counter). There was a hiccough after their initial inspection (part of the counter wasn't level, had gaps in it, and it needed fixing - this couldn't be seen when they first looked at the counter because it was covered by a cabinet). I sent some photos and en email early on after the initial bid to show them what we had found. At the time they didn't seem to think it was a big deal and they had told me when they did the initial inspection that, if it came to it with that section of the counter, they could always cut that part out and put in a piece of plywood. I also asked at this point if they could do my tub surround and they said yes. We talked through all the particulars via email, they rescheduled me (necessitating me to reschedule my other subs - tile and carpenter), and we agreed on everything including the additional price for the bathroom. Not a huge deal and I was a little surprised that they "didn't have time" because the tub surround is actually quite small - only two sides. But not really a big deal. Time passed and I think they got crazy busy, especially with new requirements for jobs post-Covid. I was a small project and a new client. The day before they were supposed to come I sent another email reminding them of everything that was going to get done, the time we'd agreed to meet, my phone number, etc. Just to be sure. I had this feeling that maybe they weren't on top of things. All of a sudden, they wanted to reschedule again. They couldn't work with the countertop. I needed a carpenter to do it and they couldn't do the bathtub surround either because there was latex paint on the old surround (there wasn't - Armortech and I had already talked about the pain in the emails and I'd verified with my painter that there was no paint on it.). I suspect the real issue why they couldn't do the tub surround was they didn't have time. I also suspect they were relieved to have an excuse (they couldn't work with the countertop) to reschedule me again because they didn't really have time for me anyway. I told them that after all this, I expected them to show up and just figure it out. If you look at their website (and recommendations I got from other customers) these guys do lots of complicated work and can absolutely cut a piece of counter out and put a piece of plywood in it's place. If I'm being super generous, that's probably an hour or so of work. They just didn't want to do it (because I think they got too busy). I feel like I tried very hard to keep them abreast of the project, what we had found as we demoed part of the kitchen. I emailed repeatedly. Sent pics. Etc. They didn't reach out to me at all as their situation changed. It ended with us deciding we were a bad match and they withdrew their bid. Well that was true! Ha! We were a bad match. If they respond to this review, I'm sure they will point out that the real problem was I changed the scope and we had bad communication. Can't disagree with latter, although I certainly felt like I put a lot of effort in to trying to have good communication. And as for changing the scope - I did! But I don't see that as a problem. We agreed on the changes and on more money for the additional work. That's a win-win in my book. My recommendation to you: I do believe Armortech does good work. I have reports from other developer friends that I know and trust that this is true. I believe they care about the quality of their work; they were certainly proud of the pictures they showed me when we first met. I *really* appreciate that sort of thing. But if they are busy and overwhelmed, if your project is small, then they aren't likely to give you the attention you need. And, if they get their back up, *they are going to drop you*. There's no sense of..."look clearly we've had a miscommunication but I want to do right here. How can we make something work out?" To be fair, that level of professionalism is hard to find these days. Nevertheless.... I do a lot of work around town and I like to try new subs out on small jobs before doing anything else with them. I think it's very revealing and it proved to be here. If you feel like you can manage the communication absolutely clearly and on your own without a lot of ownership on their end for the process - you will probably be happy with the outcome. If you are a small job, new to the remodel process, or expect a high degree of professionalism and an ability to do what's necessary to work things out - I recommend you take a pass on these folks. Bottom line, there was no crack in the foundation and no water intrusion. We agreed to fix the sheetrock, and I asked about painting the room. I got an estimate, and we set a date. Upon arriving at the scheduled time, TJ let me know he did not have to replace the sheetrock but could do a good repair. I added in an additional project to install two cabinets. Both projects were done quickly and efficiently. Both TJ and his co-owner, Logan, were professional, and the work areas were always cleaned up. Because the sheetrock did not need to be replaced, TJ immediately removed the costs involved with that. I appreciate the great work, and I highly recommend Tri-Mountain contracting.

The rooms are so spacious and comfortable. The HiLine team was great to work with. Michael was pleasant, and thorough. He explained all the available options and was able to answer all our questions. Wes, our project manager, was also great to work with. He was always responsive and willing to help us with any questions or issues that we had. He answered all our phone calls and texts and that had to be a chore at times. We love our home, it is well built, beautiful and we are very happy with it.

I picked the 1780 home because I like the way the front looked after I got my permit and financing. I was eager to get ready. It was June 2024 and I told Hiline we can only start this year if you can get the roof on by November 1. if you know Trout Lake after November 1, the snow starts falling and it makes it very difficult to do anything. I said "if you can't get the roof on by November 1, we'll start in April". I was given a verbal assurance that they can get it done and so it began. There was a fire up there that delayed a little bit, but it shouldn't have affected my build because we weren't in the evacuation zone. It was slow going from the very beginning, but I was still assured he can get it done by November 1. The foundation went in and then the framers showed up. I was up at the property every Friday and I think I've only seen the framers once the entire time. Yet again, I was assured it will be done by November 1. there be times I'd go up and see no work done from the previous week. When I started, they told me with new Washington laws say they can't put can lights in. I walk over to my neighbor's house to look at their build and found that they were using can lights. I called the state Electrical Inspector to find out it was legal to use can lights. I called them and they said it was a misunderstanding. They're just trying to make a good seal so they can pass their door seal test. They were not willing to work with me about putting can lights in. I wanted to put a fireplace in but again they're not gonna put a hole in the roof cause they wanted to pass their test. They said they can get their guy out there to lay out the hole so later I can put the chimney in. that never happened. I made it a point not to be the reason the house build would be delayed. Septic, power,and water were ready to go. He called and told me foundation is done and it needs to be backfilled before the framers showed up. I had it done in two days. I made sure that there was no snow around the house. The streets were plowed by the county. They never made their November 1 deadline. Started to rain and snow, and my lumber was laying in the mud. The exposed wood timbers was put in place with muddy footprints all over it. I asked Hiline "is that finished product". They said "yes, you can just pressure washer and sand it." I was shocked that that was finished product and turned over to me. Part of this build was saving money by doing my own building trash pick up. I guess the workers thought they could just throw cigarettes, pop cans, and lunch trash in my bushes. I thought that was very disrespectful. Part of the reason I picked that plan was exposed wood front. If you looked at the pictures on their website or in their catalog, it showed the supports were exposed wood. when I saw the 6 x 6 treated post, I asked "Why am I not getting the nice Unfinished look". they said that's what you paid for and that the pictures on the website were incorrect. To me that's false advertising. By the way, I don't recommend the model 1780. The quality of wood they use in the front is pretty low. The roof finally got put on the eve of Christmas Eve. Two months late. in that time my house got soaking wet, the lumber was muddy. no matter what I do you're not gonna dry that out with the temperature outside of 17°. So the next three months, I did my best to dry that house out. April came around and it was time to insulate and sheet rock the house. I must give credit to the sheet rockers. They did an excellent job. I was very impressed. The house got so wet and sat, mold started growing underneath the house. I had to get under there and spray the entire thing before they could insulate. Their delays cost me money. The criticism I have with the builder is that he's not very proactive. He reacts to each situation. For example , schedule the next contractor out as soon as their schedule fits and when that contractor is done, he'll plan the next guy to come in on their timeline. which really draws out the project. He needed me to put in the microwave range vent. He called me during my work week and told me I needed to get up there the next day so that the carpenter can finish. A 2 hour drive, one way. How about telling me a week before. I could've finished up that weekend I was up there. The house build was delayed by two months. I was financially penalized by my bank for being late on the build . Again, Their delays cost me money. The county gave me occupancy to live in the house, but I'm still sanding the front because of the dirt ingrained in the lumber. Hopefully I'll be able to stain it this fall.
