So we flew from LAX to Buffalo, NY, which allowed us to visit Niagara Falls (stunning) and then take a quick drive south to Bradford, PA (home of Zippo lighters). The first thing one notices when entering this part of Pennsylvania is how well-kept the homes and farms are. And when you turn onto the access road to the Glendorn Lodge, you see their farm-to-table patch of a vegetable farm. Once through the gate, the drive is a couple of miles to the main lodge and check-in. The staff are so wonderful and polite, calling us by our last names, which is very formal but a nice touch! Our home, cabin, was lovely beyond description. The master bedroom was stunning, the screened-in porch was perfect for 10 to 12 people hanging out (ideal for a family reunion), and we had an outdoor fireplace/pit blazing and roasting marshmallows for the kids. The next morning, we rode bicycles that you keep at your cabin home. We went out on a small lake with paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, etc. We also played volleyball and had lunch catered and delivered to the lake - fantastic service. The next day we played tennis, swam, basketball and even shot skeet! As our time at Glendorn came to a close, we reflected on the unparalleled service and the deep sense of relaxation we experienced throughout our stay. The staff truly went above and beyond, ensuring every detail was perfect, and their personalized approach made us feel like cherished guests rather than just visitors. To cap off our trip, we took a leisurely drive back toward Buffalo, savoring the memories of Niagara Falls and our time at the resort. We left Glendorn with our spirits lifted, ready to cherish the beauty of nature and the luxury of wonderful hospitality. If you ever find yourself in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania, I highly recommend Glendorn for an unforgettable retreat. It's a hidden gem that beautifully combines nature, comfort, and top-notch service!

I was greeted with a smile and a cup of coffee, played frisbee with one of the dogs and enjoyed checking out the log cabin style interior of the place. I was able to enjoy a hot tub (during a cold rain, which was amazing!) and a fire under cover of a gazebo that night. I woke up to coffee and was served breakfast at the table, so personal and amazing! My smoker blew an axle, the owners came out with a tractor and spend a good amount of time before I left making sure that I was loaded and good to make my return trip. Way above and beyond! Here is quite a story for you. My husband booked the Buttonwood in for me because it was the only…read morehotel around in Emporium that was open and taking guests and it was an emergency. It was the last hotel on my list, having been born and raised in Emporium, and I knew it's reputation. But, I needed to get to Emporium. I had a family member that was in final stages of life. So I did it. What I walked into was a hotel room that looked like it was part of a Hollywood scene for an ax murder screenplay. There was black mold on the inside of the windows, Rust in the bathroom on the floor by the toilet.... Rust inside the shower. And the bed. Oh the bed. I checked out a day early because I could no longer stomach the bed. The bed smelled like someone had puked all over it. When I checked out and told Amanda about this, she told me under no uncertain terms that I would not be getting a refund for the day I checked out. It's in the print she said. Now if you look at the print, even with reading glasses, you can't read it. It is so small you would need a high density magnifying glass to read it. There is no check in or check out times listed anywhere for this hotel. there is no coffee anywhere in this hotel. They do offer a refrigerator in a microwave. And beds that apparently smell like puke. I can honestly tell you that because it was the only hotel I could get at that point, I didn't want to complain. I was only in that room to pause and sleep while my family member was transitioning between life and death. This is a heavy subject for me and not one I normally would ever share online. But the way Amanda treated me was heinous. This whole family does not care about their hotel. Or their guests. They should not be in a business that faces people. So I may as well spill the beans. there are supposed to be an extra lock on the door that protects people. It's the little safety lock on the door that is supposed to give a person extra protection. Half of it was broken off. I really didn't feel safe, but my only option was to have stayed in St. Mary's, which was 20 miles away. Here's my recommendation. If you have time to plan a trip to Emporium, stay at a bed-and-breakfast if you can. There are some that are around town, and some that are outside of town. Please do not stay at the Buttonwood Inn. It's not safe, it's not health safe, and I don't know how the health department does not shut this entire place down. And by the way, this is all in my humble opinion. :-)

We were back in the back part of the campground and the directions she did give us were to back into our site, which made it a little tricky, but my husband managed it. We were on site 62. The sites were heavily wooded in the back, which was nice because it provided a lot of shade and was mostly quiet. I will say that the Electric post are very low to the ground and ours was 30 amp, but it didn't come with a 110 V which was kind of frustrating and it seemed like the 110 V didn't work on our friend's site so we had to use another friend's site. We purchased our wood from them and it was super wet and it was difficult to burn so I would also recommend as another reviewer said to get your wood offsite until this is more seasoned. It appears as though they are putting a lot of work into this campground, and I imagine more improvements will come as they continue to work through everything.
