From thw very beginning, Craig was immediate with contacting me and ensuring everything was going well. They have the most organized planning tools on their website as well. Chris Monroe was absolutely on point for the wedding day too! Chris made sure we knew he was there for us that day, even bringing us drinks during pictures! It's been 3 weeks since we got married and we're STILL getting compliments on our DJ Tim! As soon as we had our zoom call with him I knew he'd be a great fit. He was so calm and relaxed and brought our stress level down. We were a little worried because neither of our families are big into dancing and didn't want the DJ to pressure them like we've seen at other weddings. But we had people consistently dancing the ENTIRE night. They all said they had so much fun and that he had an awesome music collection. All of his announcements were spot on and the way he faded out the music for the processional, my walk down the aisle, and special dances were perfect. I chose Craig and his team because their website/team was so unique. It was fun and definitely caught my attention. Their communication throughout the whole process was outstanding! I contacted Black Tie regarding DJ, photo booth and lighting services for an upcoming wedding. I was satisfied with their package and pricing and attempted to set up an appointment with them. Their availability and response time was concerning, culminating with a Friday phone call that went like this: "We are available anytime on the weekend except for Friday and Saturday." "OK, Sunday then?" "I will have to get back to you." I received the follow up call the next Tuesday, after I selected a competitor for a higher price that was worth the piece of mind. I get that it is wedding season and busy for them, however typically a business is going to be most responsive when they are trying to sell you, and it only gets worse from there. Maybe they are so busy they don't need the work, but I doubt that based on the fact I received a second quote within hours of the first at a substantially reduced price. I gave them two stars solely based on the fact that they were able to provide images of their lighting setup at my venue within their initial quote. read more

I hired Black Tie to do photo booth for my sister in laws wedding for a present. What a great idea.....everyone loved it and Mike did an awesome job! When people weren't dancing they were at the photo booth taking pictures with all kinds of different hats and props.....really cool! I wish we had gotten the up lighting too. This has been bothering since Saturday evening. I attended my nephews wedding. While people were arriving the DJ was playing "Dinner" music, at first not only I but other people thought "oh this seems like it's going to be fun, Motown, country, etc. " well as we were waiting for dinner to arrive not only myself but other guest (family members, and friends of bride and groom I just actually just met) noticed that the same songs were being played over, not once, twice (actually going on three..explain that in a few moments) I'm going to back up a moment When the guest arrived we were offered "A GLASS of CHAMPAGNE " There was also hot cocoa. Dinner was NOT served until around 6:00 Guest DID NOT arrive until between 3:30 /4:00 . The bar did NOT OPEN until DINNER was being SERVED! MOST people chose the FOOD when there TABLE was called instead of the BAR. During dinner we were chatting about the same songs being played over (zac Brown, oldies ..) once dinner was over family members and I were chatting about songs . I walked over to the DJ and said "hey, your going to take requests I hope?" He said "absolutely " I said "oh good , because we noticed that you've been playing the same songs 3 times over" his response " no actually it was only twice " me.. so does that mean you'll take requests " him" yes right after dessert " ( Which was being served at that time ) BTW. I have NEVER EVER in my life SEEN or HEARD of a DJ or PHOTOGRAPHER go up to get their food right behind the bride n groom n wedding party (seriously??????) usually they are the last to go !!!! ***weird*** Anyway .. my family and I were at a table trying to think of some songs. So, as we were all coming up with fun dancing songs, One person was already on his way to the DJ to request a couple songs (thinking his nephew/groom would like them . When he walked past the table he said the DJ told him he needed to ask the brides father if it was ok to request the songs he wanted because he had a "set list " (which I totally understand.. a bride n groom give a list of songs they want played /or not ) but as far as ASKING PERMISSION??? And he did tell me he would be taking requests, didn't say anything about asking permission!!! He did get permission like he was told thumbs up from the brides dad, went to tell DJ , as he walked away from the DJ , the DJ yelled out loud enough for quite a few people to overhear, "I don't tell you how to do your job" it was enough for him to turn around and say a few words and walk away . That's DJs job to play songs !!!! NO he wasn't drunk and belligerent (as I read in the comment that you responded too / / one glass of champagne and one beer is NOT going to make a person belligerent) Everything was fine at are table, we were all chatting, laughing etc. guys were talking hunting rest of us were mingling. ( (I have to add family member was totally over it , DJ must of been dwelling on this ) Are you aware that The DJ had the mother of the groom on the verge of tears??? Did he tell you he told the groom he was going to pack up his stuff and leave ???? (Because of the incident/he apparently was overreacting to a simple song request?? If he did not have a song maybe just say so ... He did play the one song /small things . Weird.. he played requests from the sister of the bride /bridesmaid I know this because not to many people danced. This was the most emptiness dance floor I have ever seen at a wedding. The two little ring barriers, Bride, bridesmaids a few other people Maybe 10/15 tops all night at once (not including bridal dance). Plenty of us wanted to dance, first time I never danced at a wedding. As for the comment/response you gave about getting paid well, you had a contract!!!! Of course YOU got paid !! It would be a breach of your contract!! And of course you received a tip !! My family ISN'T CHEAP (cash too ) I'm not sure what YOUR DJ told you, and I'm sure you will believe him, after all he is your employee, and you responded the way you did /as you probably will with mine. Well guess what??? I'm telling you the truth, I know what I said , what I saw , and what was said . I think your DJ was VERY UNPROFFESSIONAL!! Handled the situation wrong, he did NOT have to say ANYTHING to the GROOM!! IT WAS NOT THAT BIG of A DEAl!! And to speak to a wedding guest that way!!! I WOULD NEVER HIRE OR RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY to anyone, I would rather play a radio all night long than hire your company. DROP read more

Not as gay friendly as they try to come off as. Our wedding was not taken seriously. Our DJ was unprepared, didn't bring his information, and botched every special moment a wedding has including the first dance, the grand entrance, the bouquet/garter toss, and even interrupted our last few minutes together while we waited for our cue to walk for the ceremony to ask what music we wanted for the ceremony. Really? You could tell our DJ didn't care about our night and he was just winging it. He did not take it seriously and it didn't seem to bother him or the owner either. We sent in a 6 page letter with ignored requests and stressful moments caused by our DJ not doing his part. We were offered a fraction of our money back in exchange for a non disclosure and no reviews, but we found it more important to let other gay couples know this is not the company for you. They will take your money but not give you the service you deserve on your day. You can't get it back. I would recommend an preloaded ipod and a charismatic family member to announce the special moments over using this company, plus you'll save $2300+. At least that person would care enough to say your name right and use the right names for people they are announcing, unlike ours. You deserve a company that values your love and not just your money. If you do use them I hope you are able to write a review like the other happy ones I have read, but we were not as fortunate and that hurts. read more
