Arriving in Pickering and having wandered around enjoying this wonderful town we needed sustenance. This 'coaching' inn came into sight from the road, with a wonderful outside seating area. Perfect. Bar service was brilliant with a very nice selection of ales. The outside seating was unusual. The tables being made from old cable drums. No waste here. Had to laugh at the gents loo with its half casks on the wall as the urinals. Interesting, unusual and extremely likeable pub. In the future, when we are up that way again, we will pop in for a meal because the menu looked extremely appetising. read more

Had a lovely meal in here last Monday night. Few issues to start with, we had to wait quite a while for a specials board as there was only one and then for our order to be taken. The main menu didn't really impress me it was pretty average however the specials board had some lovely choices for both starters and mains. I had the lamb shank with bubble and squeak which melted In the mouth and the rest of our party enjoyed there meals also which were from the specials board. The interior of this pub is lacking and I wasn't hopeful of a nice meal but I was definitely pleasantly surprised! read more
