But they don't necessarily know what was quoted and when I had a closet painted (with a paint that has 1 coat guarantee), they told me I needed more paint and I didn't realize it was for a second coat that wasn't quoted. I didn't authorize a second coat and dale insisted it was necessary (for a closet it most certainly wasn't). His crew should know what is included in the work and when I pointed out they got paint on inside of door from closing it on wet paint he told me it was there before and insulted the state of my house in doing so. Should have waited for my regular painter to become available.

The head contractor will come out and give you an estimation. Take those words VERY strongly because it is definitely nothing but a estimation, which he willfully leaves the details out of. Basically, there are small details within the jobs that the contractor is responsible to ask as he is providing a service to customers who may not have full knowledge within the field. He will use this to come up with ways to increase your charges as the work goes along, instead of bringing your attention to them from the beginning during the quote. He will state this was not part of the original agreement wherein he did NOT ASK about specific details of the job where the average person would not know are not included. I say all this to say, you WILL WIND UP PAYING MORE THAN HE QUOTES. He will have workers stop the job (yes in the middle of it) until you agree to pay more basically pushing you into a corner. DO NOT BE FOOLED. Sometimes, paying a little bit more but going with a straightforward, honest company who will not blindside you along the way is worth it. Because trust me, if you choose to go with this company, you WILL wind up paying more than you expect. FIND OTHER CONTRACTORS, GET QUOTES AND PAY A LITTLE MORE TO GO WITH SOMEONE PROFESSIONAL.
