the owner is amazing such an amazing first tattoo experience he was so understanding let me take as many breaks as I needed.

Destiny, an apprentice there made it super uncomfortable to be there. I never plan to take my business here again. She continuously was talking bad on the staff members she works with, saying how she can do better work than any of them, telling me she belonged in a better tattoo shop, she continued by making threats about fighting this girl I've known for a few years now and is a good friend and how she would pull up to her place to "beat her ass". It reflected very badly on the shop and was very disappointed that this is the type of person they allow to apprentice here. I had my two year old with me and I definitely don't plan on returning for her ears getting pierced with the amount of unprofessionalism I saw. She even managed to make my two year old cry when she went off on me for allowing her to sit with me. read more

Jax did a brilliant job. Above and beyond anything I could have pictured for myself but now that it's said and done it's exactly what I hoped for. She designed it, helped me figure out how to get it detailed without shading it too much, and spent 3-4 hours entertaining me while she made it perfect. I am so happy. read more

when my husband came home on leave from korea, one of the things he DESPERATELY wanted was a tattoo. he wanted to get a dragon on his arm sleeved in. so off we went to black rose to see matty. watching the hubby get his tat, i started jonesin...BIG TIME. so i decided it was time for a new tat for me too. i gave matty references, told him what i was thinking and said i'd be back in a few days. i showed back up as promised and matty had an AMAZING sketch ready for me. there was one minor change i wanted and he was totally down to free hand the change. we got to work then and there. after sitting with matty as my artist, i realized that my first tat was a srsly disappointing experience. matty took control of the situation...it didn't matter that i flinched when he went over my kidneys, because he was SO in control. matty is a GOD among men...he worked wonders! three hours, two coffee/cigarette/bathroom breaks and a burrito later, my tat was complete. i recommend matty to everyone i meet and now that includes all my yelp homies. if you want primo work done, he is the man to see. he's reasonable in his prices (in my opinion) i paid $300...see the pics and make your own decision. I can't speak to the quality of the work - because after waiting for over an hour and a half to get 2 simple tattoos, my husband and I walked out and will NEVER return. We arrived and spoke to, who I assume is, the shop hand. Told him the tattoos we wanted (both very small, very simple, maybe 7-10 minutes each) and he let us know there were 2 people in front of us. No problem, we can hang for a bit. After sitting for an hour, my husband asked about how much longer we were looking at waiting. The female who seemed to be running the show didn't even know what we wanted, didn't know we were waiting to be seen, etc. Told her everything, and she found a tattoo artist who said it would be about 20 minutes. Okay, no big deal, I can wait for 20 more minutes. 15 minutes later he completed the tattoo he was working on, and I assumed he would want to get his station prepped and do our very quick pieces so he could finish for the night, as it was past 10pm at this point. NOPE. Didn't happen. Took 15 minutes to clean his station, of course while talking to friends and going as slowly as possible. Not a word to my husband and me, who had been just sitting waiting for 90 minutes at this point. Sits and takes photos of a couple of girls tattoos for them, rewraps them, all while he knows we have been waiting for an extremely long time. He has a drink, goes to talk to friends, eats some cake, whatever. At this point, we are so frustrated that it's taken this long but assume he's going to get his station set and call me back (I'm going first). Again, NOPE. He grabs his stuff to go outside and have a break, smoke a cigarette, hang out, who even knows. After being largely ignored by everyone in this building for the better part of 2 hours, we get up to leave. No one says a word to us, no acknowledgment about the wait, or anyone keeping us updated on what's going on. I have never felt so out of place. Black Rose Too obviously didn't want our business tonight, and wasted almost 2 hours of our time instead. If they would have told us ahead of time it would have been a 2 hour wait, we would have made appointments for a different day without issue. But expecting customers to sit and wait for that long with no interaction from the staff is insane. I have quite a few tattoos and have never experienced this level of horrible customer service and disorganization in a shop. Start to finish, awful experience and waste of time. The service was so bad that we didn't even get the names of anyone working there. will tell everyone I know to avoid this place at all costs. That is, unless you are friends with the tattoo artists, then you will get moved to the front of the line. read more

I went to black rose looking to get my new tattoo done with matti... everything was so cool and nice until 3 night later my boyfriend's friend went there and he did pretty much the same tatto to her but a little bit different... now im wonder how many people has something alike in sierra vista..... at least im not planning on staying in sierra vista......I knew i had to go to tucson to get my tattoo done... When I was 18, now Im 28, I wanted a butterfly from a painting i have. I took it to all the shops that were here at the time. I chose the other shop b/c they were 20 cheaper. I wasnt able to see the tattoo when it was completed, when i got home I realized why. It looked....well it wasnt what I had hoped for, or even close. Carlos at Black Rose Too, covered me up. The lines are clean and the shading is soft with true color, that has lasted over 9 years now. You cant even tell there was a bad black moth of death under there. For he transformed into a beautiful butterfly. Maty has also tattooed me. What a great job! These guys love what they do and it shows! Best in the southwest! read more
