I love this shop it's always my first stop shop if I want an eye catching outfit. If you go in an are a little overwhelmed by the huge array of tightly packed clothes, I strongly recommend you ask for help. I always look out for Karen who jointly owns the shop. She has a great eye for what works for your figure. If you want a 'Yes everything looks great on you' person Don't pick Karen If you want someone who will show you something you've never tried before Pick Karen. The shop itself has some lovely items but the staff behaviour is absurd. They follow you around and make up nonsense as to why they are following you - clearly they have trust issues but you will lose business if people don't feel comfortable to browse especially due to the volume of items on show. Black Orchid is a very up-market, yet beautiful shop, hidden away in Stamford. This isn`t high-street fashion, but pure luxury in silks, satins and brocades, with ribbons and bows, sparkle and lace. What a surprise Black Orchid is! It is located just off the High street and I had walked past this shop many times without going in, wrongly thinking there was nothing in there for me. How surprised I was when my daughter took me in there when we were looking for a prom dress for her. As well as a fantastic range of beautiful dresses on display there are so many extra unusual items hidden away in this fabulous shop. No longer will I be stuck when I am looking for a pair of shoes or accessories to go with a particular outfit, this shop seems to have it all. The staff are so very helpful and patient. 'Black Orchid' is a great place to go for those less conventional items. From jewellery to dresses, the range is phenomenal, and the quality is present in all of the products. The prices are slightly higher than your standard high street store, but what you get really is worth it. The craftsmanship that goes into a lot of the items is outstanding, and when wearing a piece from this shop, you know it will not only look great, but It makes you feel great also. A lot of the jewellery is great for statement pieces and the dresses range from evening gowns, to more casual dresses. Black Orchid is a sensational shop a real find full of unusual and interesting styles , a lot of the customers when we were in seemed a bit old and we nearly passed but wow am i glad we didn't . Great service lots of attention but not ott really interested in getting something to suit you not just grab your money . My wife went in and bought a top labelled m/l. Back in our hotel she discovered in the inner seam of the top, a label saying size L. The tag had been put on by the store. Immediately I went back to the store, and was told 'no refunds'. I understand that is their policy, but most stores do goodwill when it's obviously a mistake. When I asked for a refund, they said they could only do a credit note. I mentioned that, as a tourist, that wasn't much use, and why didn't they excercise some goodwill. The wife turned to me and said, 'you've answered your own question, why would I give you goodwill when you're a tourist, you're not coming back'. She and her husband had been, both, talking at me incessantly, since there was no one else in the shop. They were brash and unpleasant. I would not recommend going there, if you do, check the labels very carefully, as they label them themselves. Personally I think that misrepresents the clothing, but I'm not a lawyer. Avoid. read more
