Called for a local delivery and a sweet employee found a great bouq for me that was $45 and only $5 for delivery...the same day! Literally within hours on a Saturday! I called at 1130 and they were able to deliver by 1! I can't speak to the flowers but the customer service was excellent. read more

Can't say enough about the Black Orchid. I was needing to send flowers for a memorial service that had been scheduled for a Saturday. I called on Friday mid-morning and asked if they serviced the funeral home I was needing the flowers sent to. They informed me that they could have the flowers delivered that day. They also offered to take the arrangement I had seen on their website and customize it for who the service was for. The flowers that were sent were lovely and I could not be more pleased. Living out of state you never know how an order can turn out just by picking out a picture on the internet. If I ever need anything sent in this area again I would not hesitate to use them. I had a very disappointing experience with Black Orchid Floral. My husband ordered flowers from their local website on the morning of February 13th for Valentines Day, but they were never delivered. When we called to find out what happened to the order, a woman who did not give her name and Alex (who seems to be the owner or manager) told us they never received the order. The woman actually laughed when my husband told her he'd placed the order online. They blamed a bad internet connection, and told us they weren't responsible for orders placed on THEIR OWN website, even though my husband received a confirmation email from them after he placed the order. Alex said he'd "turned off" the ability to order from the website a few days prior, so that they wouldn't get swamped with last minute orders for Valentines Day. Wrong! While I was on the phone with him, I was able to place an another order on the Black Orchid Altus website and get another (apparently pointless) confirmation email. He told me he knew there were problems with ordering on the website (and mentioned something about problems with Teleflora, their national floral partner) but he didn't apologize or offer any further explanation. Rather than offering to make it right, or reschedule the delivery, or take any responsibility whatsoever, Alex repeatedly told me "my hands are tied". The only thing Alex offered to do was to not charge our credit card if the order ever "showed up". Gee, thanks. It was all very frustrating. My husband specifically went to the trouble to find a local florist with a website before he placed the order. We are new in town and had heard nothing but good things about Black Orchid, but I cannot recommend a business that refuses to take responsibility for known technical problems and offers such poor customer service. We didn't even get a simple apology. I understand that Valentines Day is probably the busiest day of the year for florists. I also understand that good customer service can make up for a lot of mistakes and problems. That was what was most disappointing about our experience with Alex at Black Orchid. He just didn't seem to care. He and the woman we spoke with were both so dismissive, they made it seem pretty clear that they didn't care about keeping me or my husband as customers. I don't care how beautiful their arrangements are, next time we will be spending our money with another florist. read more
