I still have family in Rapid and decided to get a recommendation for a florist for an arrangement rather than the old FTD route. I called Fancies and gave them a dollar amount we wanted wanted to spend. I asked that they include a Hydrangea but otherwise gave them free reign. I have not seen the arrangement but I can tell you my mother loved it. She called me right after it was delivered and went on and on a about how beautiful it was. She said she was pulling everyone into her room to admire it. I don't mean she liked it in the typical manner someone expresses when they receive flowers. She absolute thought the arrangement was stunning. The folks at Fancies did say its fun for them to do florist choice. Based on the call I got from my mom and her absolutely raving about the arrangement I'd have to say my next order will go to Fancies as well.

For me, the true test of a great business is not how few mistakes they make, but how they handle the mistakes - no one is perfect, so there will always be mistakes. Victoria's Garden is a great business. So, generally when I order flowers for someone, rather than ordering from someplace online that will just send the order to a local florist, I just find a local florist and call them directly. A couple years ago, I called Victoria's Garden to have flowers delivered to my mom at work on the Friday before Mother's Day (my mom lives in Rapid City, but I'm on the west coast.) When I do this, I let my dad know, so if anything happens, he can tell me. Well, I got a text from my dad on Saturday saying that mom didn't get the flowers. I called the store, and the associate I spoke with couldn't figure out what had happened, so she asked if she could investigate and call me back. Maybe 10 minutes later, I received a call from the owner. She apologized and said that the order had been misplaced, but that they would put my order together and have it out for delivery that day (on mother's day weekend!) Well, in the 10 minutes before the call back, I talked to my dad who was out and about town, and wasn't far from the store, so he offered to pick them up. I told Victoria this, and all was set to go. My mom got a lovely surprise when dad came home, the flowers were beautiful, and the bouquet was much bigger than I had paid for. Not only that, come Monday, a full refund appeared in my bank account. Victoria's Garden went above and beyond, and is now my go-to florist whenever I want to send flowers to someone in Rapid City.
