The cheese lady (sorry I forgot her name) was great about ensuring we ate certain cheeses in order for our palate, which was delightful advice. We ended up eating there, and I'm so happy we did. In our two week NZ tour, the sandwich from here (salami, brie, chicken, and veggies) was by far the best thing I ate. The cheese melted wonderfully and the combination of flavors with sauces was drool worthy. I wish we didn't get stuffed quickly, because I've heard their ice cream is amazing (one trip regret). Also, I have to say the price was so reasonable. You'd expect fr a fancy cheese place to have high priced meals, but my sandwich was massive for a small price, and the pizza my husband got was juicy not greasy, and also a super shocking low price for as large as it was.

So I just ordered some award winning ice creams and some coffee. The ice cream is fantastic, so creamy and yummy. Same thing can't be said about the coffee, it was almost as weak as water. I m not a big cheese person, but I can't resist a bargain. So I bought the single cream Camembert that is on special. If it wasn't pouring down outside, I would take a stroll around the grounds and maybe even had a play on the swings to work off those guilty ice cream calories.

It is quite obvious from the setting of this place why this competition takes place though - most of the seats look out to the placid Mahurangi River and the attractive boardwalk next to this, with ducks ocassionally quacking as they wander past. The service was mostly pretty good, however they were not so flexible with adjustments to the set menu; for example my mum wanted an extra tomato instead of a hash brown and they said they could only do this if they charged her extra. The food itself was also pretty disappointing - the pancakes I ordered were quite small with a total of 5 berries on top and two small slivers of banana, and my mums poached eggs came with supermarket sliced bread and hash browns that were obviously commercial ones that had previously been frozen. My 'smoothie' was also pretty average; $5.50 is quite pricey considering it was just syrup and milk. The coffee was good, but I don't think we will be coming back here just to enjoy that and the idyllic setting.

It's nondescript from start to finish; not unpleasant, but just completely lacks flair, which is a pity given it has the best locale in Warkworth. We sat outside, overlooking the beautiful reserve/stream area. A very calm, cathartic place, good spot for a heart-to-heart over coffee and a light lunch. Speaking of which, neither of us being all that hungry, we decided to split a plate of potato wedges. We were surprised by how small the portion was ~ near half of what we'd expect. The flavours were there (esp. nice seasoning on the wedges themselves), but the size just seemed teenie-tiny, even given how neither of us was inclined to gorge ourselves. Plus it lacked flair or 'love', as did everything else about this place. Coffee was very good though. Staffers were adequate in their service but otherwise complemented the (non)ambiance of the establishment. On the whole, a place with heaps of potential by virtue of its great locale... hence it's especially a pity to see it not being taken full advantage of.

The ambiance was vibey and loved that I was sitting outside, but still covered from the sun. The waiters were so nice and were able to answer any questions I had. I ordered an iced hazelnut oatmilk latte and a fried chicken benedict and they were delicious! The latte was the perfect drink to wake me up for a busy day ahead! They definitely do eggs benedict different but it was still so tasty. Instead of the usual english muffin, they used an herb rostis, which is a crispy hash brown round. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The herb rostis was also crispy and paired well with the creamy poached eggs! I miss this meal so much and dreaming of having this again the next time I go back to Auckland!

The toast was a little overcooked too but it didnt ruin the flavor The service wasny terrible but at some points it felt like it was servers first day on earth. When they brought out my latte, i asked if it was the hazelnut latte (as that was what i ordered) just to verify because she only said it was a latte. She acted really confused then said that she didnt know. Later when bringing out the eggs, as they were auctioning off the two egg dishes and we all pointed to the one at our table who ordered it and all said it was his, and they acted really confused until we repeated ourselves like 3 times. At one point someone at out table asked for raw sugar for their coffee (once again the server acting confused until we repeated ourselves a bunch) and brought out brown sugar instead. Its weird because it was not that loud in there to where they wouldnt be able to hear us Overall it was alright. Id go back got coffee and thats about it

Indeed, they were excellent with a unique tomato relish that complemented the flavor profile nicely. Typically, any time a restaurant messes with the traditional Benedict recipe, it's for the worse. But this was a rare win in these rarefied waters. I also tried a chocolate cake that was a bit dry and not worth the calories. They made my dry cappuccino exactly as I asked though the espresso beans were a little more bitter than I typically care for. The juices came from a bottle but were OK. Overall, it was a good experience with a friendly staff, nice view of the ocean and fast service. Definitely worth a stop if you're a Benny fan.

It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

And I can definitely see why. The ordering process is simple and efficient, the staff are friendly, the majority of the pitas are under $10 and the choices are endless. They also have a 'flavour of the day' (regular size for $6), which is fast becoming a popular lunch for me. Their falafel on Wednesdays and roast beef on Fridays are my favourite. But if you are looking for something more exciting, order the Tandoori chicken, and don't forget to add the mango chutney - seriously good! They have little to no seating, so best to take your pita outside - luckily Freyburg Square is just around the corner, so you can enjoy it in the sun!
