When we moved back to KC in 2015 we spent about a year trying to find a vet that would treat our big guy with care and love rather than recoil in fear when he lashed out at the vet. After the recommendation of a friend we called and were connected with Dr. Hodes. We warned her that he can be a bit ferocious at the vet, especially unmedicated, but she wanted to see him in his natural state for the first visit and while it ended up with him needing to be sedated, she explained that this can be normal behavior for cats, and for the first time ever our cat was treated like an actual patient and not like a problem. From that visit on we agreed to home visits and Dr. Hodes and her team have come to our home yearly to examine him and see him thriving in an environment that doesn't terrify him, and makes for an overall better experience for everyone. Now, I would give them 5 stars just for their compassion and coming to our home, but what puts them over the top is how communicative they are. This isn't the first time I've had to email Dr. Hodes with a question, but this past week our guy started to act lethargic and very sick. On a SATURDAY, Dr. Hodes responded to several emails and gave us tips, and even scheduled us an appointment, all over email on the weekend. Our cat is very sick this week, and while the prognosis is a bit unknown as I type this review, what I can say is that Dr. Hodes and the whole team at KC Cat Clinic worked their butts off for him while he was in their care and gave us honest and thoughtful advice and feedback. Some reviews may mention that their price can be a bit high, but if you want the very best care for your cat this is hands down the place, and I feel like the cost all balances out when you consider not only the quality of the care, but how available the vets are, and how invested and thoughtful they are with each patient. I wouldn't ever take a cat anywhere else.

I've been working with them for several months, but today Julie went above and beyond. Loki (Shepherd) had recently had a foot wound with some stitches and was in a cone. Julie found that he had gotten out of his cone and demolished it and had been licking at it. They called me and let me know and even stayed with the dogs as I sped home. I wouldn't use anyone else. They really do care and treat your animals like your own.
