My friend & I arrived in Champaign by train at 6.30 PM & of all the taxi companies listed, Black Cab & Limo were the only ones to respond. Malik was very professional and kind. We scheduled him as soon as we arrived at the hotel to pick us up on our departing day. Don't be like me! Call Black Cab before anyone else! read more

A few months ago, my husband was hospitalized out of state, and it came time to get him home. As someone with debilitating physical disabilities, I couldn't make the drive myself, and began calling car services near the hospital. The quotes I received were frankly staggering. Then I called Black Cab & Limo and spoke with Malik, the owner. From the very beginning, he stood out--not just for his professionalism and reasonable quote, but for his genuine care. He was focused on one thing: getting my husband home safely. When delays in my husband's discharge occurred, leaving Malik waiting, he was patient and understanding throughout. When my husband recently had to make an unexpected return to the hospital, with less than 24 hours' notice, I reached out again, despite thinking our request was impossible. Once more, Malik came through. I don't have enough words to describe how much this has meant to us. Malik and Black Cab & Limo provided more than just a badly needed ride. We received kindness, compassion, flexibility, and peace of mind. In these increasingly troubling times, Malik is the kind of person who restores your faith in humanity. read more

GREAT experience, from booking the ride from Champaign to north Chicago, great communication with Malik while I figured out the times that would work best for me. The car was amazingly comfortable, the driver (Mo) was very professional, great conversation, great driving, and he waited for me when I got to my destination to make sure all was ok. This service is worth the price, I got the best of the best in terms of customer service. I am still impressed. read more

Outstanding service: Malik was punctual and friendly. Much better than the big tech ride-share services that exploit drivers.

Listen up, U of I parents, Malik from Black Cab should be added to your phone contacts. Let me tell you about this company. My freshman daughter needed to catch an early Saturday morning train. Like, REALLY early, with a 5:30A pickup. Dad swoops in to find a taxi willing to pick up that early. I made several calls to the taxis that showed up in my Google search. One had agreed to the ride but asked me to call back the day before to confirm. I did, but they now said they didn't have someone so I did more searches and made more phone calls for 15 minutes. Most other calls didn't pick up and went to voice mails with full mailboxes. I went to Yelp and found Malik's Black Cab company as the first result. I called, he picked up and was very friendly. He said to text him the details. I did, added my daughter to the text and he quickly confirmed. The next morning, at 5:30A, he texted that he had arrived. My daughter confirmed he was very nice and professional. Here's to Malik and Black Cab! read more

I have NEVER said that I was spoiled by a cab company, but Black Cab was the exception! The driver was very courteous, friendly, and professional. Not only was he on time, but he opened the cab door for me, and even carried my bag for me.... both ways. His main concern was that I was comfortable. The conversation was stimulating and interesting. If you want to be spoiled, don't look any further..Black Cab IS the way to go. read more

When your child is more than 1200 miles away from home and you need to ensure that he has an easy and reliable, early-morning airport transfer, this is the company to call. Malik was prompt and very kind to my son. He arrived a few minutes earlier than scheduled, kept in contact with the passenger (and his mother) and dropped him off safely and punctually. Excellent service at a reasonable price. Thank you, Malik. read more

When I travel for work, I usually just Uber everywhere. But on a recent trip to Champaign-Urbana, I had to leave on an extremely early morning flight and was worried there wouldn't be an Uber available. My hotel booked Malik from Black Cab, and the experience was perfect. Malik showed up early and quickly whisked me away in a really nice black mid-size car. He was super friendly and caring and even asked if I needed to stop for breakfast since there wasn't anything at the airport. Our ride was easy, pleasant, and efficient. Malik was also happy to take a credit card -- I love that he didn't try to force me to use cash like so many other cab companies. The cost was a few bucks more than an Uber, but the experience was exceptional and much more timely. I can see myself only using Black Cab on future trips to CU! read more

Malik, BCL's owner, just did me a huge favor. Earlier today, I was planning to take the Peroria Charter to O'Hare. Unfortunately, I forgot my passport at home and missed the bus. Malik picked me up immediately, caught up to the bus an hour later. That's not all! He turned on his blinkers to get them to stop on the side of the interstate, and he got them to seat me on the bus. I was stuck. He could have taken me all the way to O'Hare and collected a huge fare from me. Instead, he went out of his way to save me a ton of money. Malik, you are a hero, and the best driver I have ever met! read more

This is the best taxi service in the area. The cars are clean and the drivers are professional. Best of all, they take credit cards. Tip: If you need a ride from the airport, call as soon as you land. They usually need to come from downtown -- about ten minutes. read more

I was briefly in town, on business. Excellent, courteous service. I called the night before to book, for a ride from the Illini Union Hotel to CMI Airport, based on the recommendations seen on yelp. Because of the location I was calling from I had trouble hearing the person scheduling with me. He called me back to make sure we had scheduled correctly, then confirmed by text. When the driver came to pick me up he was actually early! My driver was friendly, shared details about the area on the way to the airport. He is saved in my phonebook for the next trip. read more

UPDATE: Sometimes, the owner may call a different cab company for you, e.g. Jet Cab. These other companies do not offer the same level of service and pricing that Black Cab does, and I am very disappointed when I get a different cab. Minus 1 star for the bait and switch. Very nice driver and punctual. Great price to the airport. Probably the best cab I've had in CU. Tip: Make an appointment; this guy is awesome and as such, is usually booked if you try last minute. read more

I called for a pick up at 8pm the night before and he had me text him the pickup address and drop off location and then texted to confirm he'd be there by 6am the next day. He arrived at 5:57 and called me to let me know he was out front waiting. The car was EXTREMELY clean and he was very friendly and personable. Reasonably priced as well. I appreciated him being very on time and getting me promptly to work. I will definitely use his services again. Highly recommended. read more

This is the first time Yelp let me down. 5-stars? Not even close. I would not recommend Black Cab & Limo for two reasons: 1) the driving did not make me feel safe and 2) the driver did not treat me like paying customer. The driver was late 7 minutes picking me up. He called me to ask what city I was in; information I had already texted the day before. There was another lady in the car. I thought she was his wife or friend. I didn't know she was another rider; we went to campus to drop her off. We were on our way to the airport when he received a call, so we picked up a new girl very nearby. We dropped her off at another part of campus. By the time we actually started heading to the airport, 20 minutes had passed. We arrived 30 minutes before my flight left. I didn't complain during the ride because I had already checked-in online and wasn't checking any bags. I thought maybe he would reduce the fare for the unusual circumstances. The fare was the same: $18! (overpriced!) I asked him if this ride was normal. Did he usually give other rides before taking a passenger to the airport? How could I rely on him to get me to the airport on time in the future? He assured me that he got people to the airport on time. He KNEW the roads would be empty, etc. I said that this time, it was okay; I wasn't planning on checking my bag, but what if I wanted to check it? It was too late now. His response was that he KNEW I wasn't going to because it was a small carry-on! Carry-ons can be checked too if I want, and I often do! Basically, HE DECIDED when I would arrive at the airport. I planned on arriving 50 minutes, not 30 minutes, before my flight. HE DECIDED I would have enough time. And HE DECIDED that I wasn't going to check any bags. This all would have been okay if he had only asked me. It was as if he was doing me a favor, not that I was paying him for a service! His driving was way too fast, with sudden braking, all in the fresh snow. He must be a good driver, but it didn't feel safe. It was like being in a third world country. Would it have been a different experience if I were a loud person, or if I complained, or if I were a man, or white? read more

The night prior, I called and scheduled a ride to the airport for 5:00 a.m. The morning of the scheduled ride, no one showed up and there was no answer when I called to inquire. I was forced to seek out an alternate way to the airport, making me late. Based upon the conversation I had with the dispatch when I scheduled my ride, there had been no doubt in my mind that a cab was going to be there. I would never recommend this company based upon this experience. read more

Making appointment was easy and was confirmed promptly. Came on time to take me to a hospital appointment. Pleasant and courteous. Wished me well on my appointment. Clean and comfortable car. Needed return earlier than anticipated and he came immediately. I recommend this service without reservation to anyone needing taxi service. So nice in these times to find a taxi service that is reliable, clean, and courteous. Worth every penny for the peace of mind. read more

Came right on time to my apartment for a 6AM flight at Willard.

Great service always had a good experience with this company one the only taxi company I would use

Malik is simply Superman! My wife and I had a trip to Cancun planned, leaving very early NYE morning. Our flight out of CMI was delayed due to weather. The only way to get to Cancun for NYE was to drive to O'Hare, where our connecting flight was still on time. I called BCL and Malik answered and was there in no time at all. He drove us safely and comfortably to O'Hare. The road conditions were terrible and it was as if he knew exactly how to navigate the bad roads and make sure that we arrived on time. Best Customer Service I hav ever had! Thank you Malik! Chad and Katie read more

The dude Malik that runs this service is awesome. Even though he was a little behind schedule he was very friendly and sincere about being late. He is inspiring in how he treats customers - something all cab drivers should take example from. He's just one guy running the whole business right now so try to book an appointment if you need a ride for sure. Needless to say, I have a go-to-guy for a reliable, enjoyable cab ride. read more

Awesome guy. Quick pickup, cheap delivery. Used him to and from the bar. If I ever end up in this town again I'll give him another call. Tip him well. read more

By far the best taxi service in Champaign. Friendly, punctual driver who didn't charge extra for all the additional stops we made! Definitely a refreshing change from the rude, hate-their-life taxi drivers in Chicago and New York. Would definitely recommend this service! read more

I will only use you guys as a service you beat the rest! And if you're tired of high prices and you wanted friendly service you better try them I promise you won't regret it!!!! read more

Malik's been terrific and responsive. Using text messaging is a real advantage for a car service. He also comes across very professionally, and takes great pride in providing outstanding service. That said, because he's essentially working as his own dispatcher with only a single vehicle, you need to be careful about what time you need the vehicle. I've waited for over 35 minutes for a pickup because I didn't text him which time I needed. read more

Driver did not show up. Had to call him myself to ask if he was coming. The other driver he sent was over 20 minutes late.

Called for a 5:15 morning reservation. The driver was here before 5 and didn't alert us, just parked outside quietly. Also he helped out with the luggage and responded to our request of stopping at a differmet place first. Overall 5 star service! read more

I can't recommend this company enough. They are honest and up front about fares, they go out of their way to be helpful, wonderful customer service. read more

Malik was the kindest cab driver I have ever experienced. He carried our bags INTO the airport for us and made sure that we made our rescheduled flight . Turns out our flight was canceled. He made sure that we returned home safely and he was back the next morning at 5 a.m. for a return trip. I am disabled and he checked out the sidewalk to make sure there was no ice that I would slip on and once again carried our bags INTO the airport. He did not leave until he knew that we were safely on our way. The nicest cab driver you will ever meet. Thank you, Malik! read more

I needed a ride to the auto repair shop and then back later in the afternoon. He is friendly and punctual and has a great system where you text your ride request to his phone and as soon as he is able he will text back to confirm. Excellent, friendly service. Very clean and comfortable Town Car. read more

I have yet to meet a better guy than Malik. Last year was my freshman year of college and one night I woke up in the worst pain of my life and knew I needed to get to a hospital. RA's aren't allowed to take residents to the hospital (ridiculous rule), and no way I could afford an ambulance. I googled Urbana cab services and BCL was actually the last one listed, but the only to answer. When he asked where I was going and I said the nearest hospital he said he'd be there immediately. I'm not exaggerating when I say he was there in five minutes tops. Not only did he get me to Carle in no time at all, but he refused to let me pay, and he came into the emergency room with me, because my parents were hours away. If that weren't enough the next day he texted to make sure I was OK and stopped by my dorm. Malik is such an incredible guy and deserves all the business he can get. If you get the pleasure of riding with him just know that you're in the presence of a real life hero! And Malik, if you're reading this - thank you so much for everything you did for me! I said it before and I'll say it again - you were my guardian angel! read more

These guys picked up my daughter at her dorm and delivered her to the airport. Her flight time changed last minute and no complaints from them on that either...they rearranged the time last minute. Super nice, on time, safe. Price seemed Okay, but we haven't used another cab in Champaign. Don't think I would anyway.....they seemed very reliable and professional so it's worth it. read more

Writing this review only a few minutes after I was dropped off. I called the night before and asked for a taxi to pick me up @ 5:30 in the morning. Lo and behold, I walk out @ 5:30am and the taxi is there waiting for me. While I was charged $8 for a ride that was less than a mile, I feel that it was worth it for the service and trust. The can was clean and very nice. Would use this service again. read more

Called the night before for early morning pickup. Turned out black cab wasn't able to pick me up on time so they arranged with classic cab to pick me up. The gentleman was woken up at 5am and was at my house in 10 mins..right on time. At my stop, the black cab owner personally came to take my payment. Big props to both companies for their efficiency and organization. read more

This guy is really great! Arrive on time, clean cars and reasonable price. We lost luggage and spent some more time in airport, he waited us with patient and helped us a lot. read more

This is my first review on yelp! Malik is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. He was early and was waiting inside my apartment building to help me bring my luggage to the car. We had a great conversation the entire ride to the airport. We arrived at Willard and he walked me all the way inside and since I was early for the first flight out, he told me to wait until 5 and who to call in the off chance no one showed up. He is reasonably priced and I will DEFINITELY use him in the future. read more

Excellent service. We needed to make it back home for an appointment after being delayed at the doctor's. Our other taxi choice needed over an hour to pick up. Time was tight.
