Oh Black Bart's! You are a beautiful oasis in the land of Nebraska! The colorful York water tower always alerts me that you are near and I make my exit to you. Yes, for some bizarre, long standing reason, my family has always waxed poetic about Black Bart's in York, Nebraska. I'm not sure why, but visiting this gas station always puts a smile on my face. One year, after Lisa H and I were spotted snapping a photo of Black Bart's, the owner gave us two Black Bart's magnets as a gift. They were so tickled that we love this place. This past year, I chatted with the cashier about his "Je t'aime bobbies" bracelet and how it was grammatically incorrect in French, although I loved the sentiment. He was over the moon that he finally bumped into someone who spoke French and could confirm or deny the grammar of the bracelet. Whatever the reason may be, I'll always stop at Black Bart's when passing through Nebraska. And you should too! read more

I frequently stopped here over the years to get gas on my way to and from Omaha from North Platte. Yesterday I could not get a receipt at the pump. The attendant was rude and combative when I asked for a receipt inside. Today I stopped for gas on my way home. The pay at the pump failed and it gave me a receipt without pumping any gas. The receipt showed a zero dollar purchase. I went inside and talked to the attendant and guess who was working, the same person as yesterday. She wanted to have my card and guess at the amount. I said no. Once again she was rude, disrespectful, and combative. She blamed it on my card. I left and gassed up across the road and had no problem with my card. I called the credit card company and they said my card was fine. I reported this to my card company for monitoring this incident. Needless to say I will not longer stop at this establishment again. read more

Cashier was very rude and threw my change on the counter instead of putting it in my outstretched hand. I said thank you and she just glared at me. Restrooms were disgusting with unidentifiable liquid on the floor (May have been urine, I wouldn't be surprised). Overall mean atmosphere with extremely subpar hygiene. read more

Stopped here for fuel and to use the restroom on way my way home. The fueling process was smooth and as I passed by the attendant she was friendly and said hello. The bathroom was a nightmare absolutely filthy looks like it has not been properly cleaned in years. Black moldy looking slimy looking substance around the toilets, urinals, base of stalls, grout on tiles etc.. don't touch anything ! I will never go in here again ! Did not see a " gender neutral " bathroom, but I am sure if there was one it would have been in the same condition. read more

The staff and management here is very polite, the store isn't too bad and they offer something most gas stations seam to not offer any more, Premium 91 octane fuel. Us high end sports car owners that sport turbochargers, cant run our vehicles on anything lower. Being a person that makes cross country trips it's nice to know that someone has premium 91. But the 2 downfalls of this fueling station are, the annoying ads on their pay at the pump system. NOBODY likes to be hounded into having to press tons of buttons for questions at their gas pumps. "do you want a car wash today" why should I have to answer that before I complete my transaction to get my fuel??? Then if you do decide to want to wash your car, You drive to the back where the car wash is located and it does NOT accept credi/debit cards, so then you are stuck having to try and back out. read more

I do not recommend going here. The people who work here are have terrible customer service. The absolute worst I have ever, ever experienced. We parked on the far west pump and went in to prepay. We told the lady we wanted $30 on gray car by pump #5. Pump #5 is the only visible sign from inside the store. We were actually on pump #6, behind pump #5, but since the sign with the #6 faces west, we could not see it from inside the store. So that's why we said to the lady "$30 on the gray car by pump #5." No big deal, we were the only car at that pump, right? So we go out to pump and the pump doesn't work. We go back inside to tell the lady. Meanwhile a car drives up to pump #5 and starts pumping. When we tell the lady our pump doesn't work she said, "Oh sh--(expletive)! That guy just drove away with your gas! Did you get his license plate number? Sorry (shoulder shrug) there's nothing I can do." We asked for a receipt and she said, "ha ha, you're funny." We asked if she could make a photocopy of "her" receipt and she was hesitant but finally did. I asked to speak to a manager and she said with much teenage-like attitude, "She's not here." I asked for any contact information for the manager and she said, "I can't give you that information." Then she called her manager and said very rudely, "I have her on the phone (and then she over enunciated every word while bobbing her head back and forth with attitude) would you like to speak to her?" Yes, I would, I replied. She then went into the room behind the cash register with the phone and shut the door, leaving the store unattended. She finally came out and handed us the phone. The manager told us over the phone "technically it was our fault, but she was going to be nice to us and let us fill up with the gas we paid for, even though it mean that her register would be short." She emphasized over and over how nice she was being. We hung up the phone and the girl at the store said, "you are so lucky, my boss is never that nice." We still don't know what we were charged, but decided not to bother asking because we weren't getting any answers from the lady. We left with 1 receipt for $30, and a photocopy of another for $26. We will have to wait and see what our bank account was actually charged. We left with $26 worth of gas. Telling someone when there is a problem that there's nothing they can do and not giving them any contact information for a manager is not acceptable in any public store. I have never been treated so rudely in all my life by a 20-something, teenage-attitude-filled, rude, mean, stupid little girl. read more
