Had it not been for that, I'd have been out of the office in 10 minutes. He zipped from place to place, nothing seemed thoughtful. He dilated my eyes (didn't ask, perhaps this practice doesn't?) and then did the vision exam which perhaps is the usual order but was harder for me. The viewer glass kept fogging up (apparently) but all I knew was that I couldn't see a thing. Finally he tried wiping the glass. All this led to the exact same Rx for contacts and a new eyeglass Rx. He didn't seem to care to evaluate whether the current monovision rx (from another MD out of state) was appropriate for me now. He recommended an optional glaucoma test which I will go back for, but i'll be looking for another practice next year. I felt rushed through and that he was just trying to check me off the list. Before I'd even stopped at the receptionist to check out, he was in the waiting room calling the next patient. (Oddly too, the receptionist was sitting in her office in complete darkness and there was no sound anywhere in the office. Maybe she had a migraine -- that's an odd environment for a doctor's office.)

True story: Dr. Lonky saved me from the Corporate Computer Screens of Death. Maybe some of you are…read morefamiliar with this: you're a consultant and are constantly hunched like a gargoyle over your laptop screen for hours on end. Because there are no second monitors at your client site, you have 4 Excel windows open, all of which have numbers and text in Arial size 8 font. Let's not get into the Powerpoints, where as much infinitesimal text as possible is jammed onto a single slide. The Computer Screens of Death eventually caused me eye strain and migraines that were intolerable. Enter Dr. Lonky. After an extremely thorough eye exam, which included both distance and reading exams, tests for cataracts, etc. he was very honest in his assessment of my condition. The magnification for the glasses that I need are the type that can be purchased from any Duane Reade (aka those cheap glasses that are glorified magnifying glasses), but he would be willing to write me a prescription and have me start on the frame-selection process. Naturally, the fashionista in me opted for selecting designer frames. If I'm slowly going blind, I need to do it in style, right? Dr. Lonky has an adequate selection of designer frames and often runs sales on certain brands. Unfortunately, he does not have Chanel, but he does have Gucci, Fendi, and Michael Kors, amongst others. Two weeks later, my glasses were ready to be picked up. After a quick fitting and test of the glasses, I was on my way to becoming the best-accessorized consultant. Saturday appointments are difficult to come by, so if you know you need an eye exam, book at least 2 months in advance.

I ordered them on 4/24 with an expected date of 5/7. Not hearing from them, I called on 5/8 for a status on my order and was told I could come in anytime; they were at the store. Shame the customer needs to call to find out if their order has arrived. I went in on same day to pick them up, one pair fits nice, other pair looks crooked on me. I am told there is nothing they can do about it, that my eyebrows are crooked! Did not offer in any way to help resolve the issue. Over 55 years of wearing glasses , this is the first time I have received a pair of glasses that did not fit right and could not be adjusted. I did not raise my voice. but feel future customers should just be aware of my experience at this store and location. I will get some tape or something to raise one side up to make them look straight ... like every pair I have ever purchased in my 55 years of wearing glasses. If they read this review and try to help me, I will politely decline since they already told me there was nothing they could do to fix them even though they are new and I was very dissatisfied. Buyer beware.

I especially recommend this office to anyone is having a vision issues that perhaps might need they provided to actually discover the correct prescription for glasses or contacts for them, something places like LensCrafters usually.botch. The reason I went to LensCrafters again was I didn't want to wait for my ophthalmologist appointment which takes forever nowadays, but I needed new glasses. I made an appointment to see the optometrist, she did a fairly comprehensive exam for 87 $ and since I was there, I selected some frames and lenses which were comprehensively priced with the discount available. Overall the experience was low pressure and they have a good selection of frames. The result was a good pair of glasses. Unfortunately they dropped the "glasses in about an hour" in favor of the more common " in about a week" Conclusion: Nothing spectacular but painless low stress and competitive prices especially when there is a discount.
